has anyone ever been? where's a good recommendation to stay?

DH suprised me with the idea of going for our anniversary. It might be kind of hard to get reservations since we would go july 4th weekend but i just started looking into it and i love that he suggested this!!!!

i went with a girlfriend once ... we took the ferry from RI and stayed at the wesley hotel in oak bluffs ... the hotel was old but nice, with a wrap around porch - and it was at the end of the dock where the ferry comes in ... lots of restaurants & shopping in oak bluffs ... we rented bikes and rode to edgartown ... it was a beautiful weekend and we had a really nice time ...

we want to go at the worst time of the year- july 4th weekend.

how to get there also? it seems so complicated with the ferries etc

you need the steamship authority to get over to MV or nantucket.

they do have ferries that leave fridays and come back sundays that leave out of new bedford RI and i think they have one that leaves from manhattan but my guess is that at this point... its sold out for the weekend you want.

you dont need a car over there though. they have great public transit buses that have stops all over the island. lots of taxis for local trips.

bikes are a big thing over there!!
