Need some work advice asap
Ok I have had it with my supervisor. Myself and another woman have been here for three years and work extremely hard. We are both at the same level and it has taken a very long time for us to get more challenging work from our boss.Well last month they hired a new woman. She is entry level, so two levels below us. My supervisor is giving her all this hard work....some work that neither myself or the other woman has ever gotten!!!! Today I found out he gave her something new to do that we never got before. Its the last straw. The kicker is this new entry level person is dumb! She doesn't even know what a debit and a credit is.....if your accountant then you know this is basic 101. ( i wouldn't expect just anyone to know this but an accountant should)
So me and the other woman are going to say something to him this afternoon.
What should we say? How do we approach this?

i would not bring up the new hire woman at all.You should just say you would like different and / or more challenging things to do.

see this is the thing, we have been complaining for about year now how we want to take on more challenging work but never get it, or its like pulling teeth....now this chick walks in and is getting stuff neither of us have ever gotten, its not fair.

hmm, i don't know then .... i don't think you're supposed to compare yourself to others in a work environment .... but i suppose you can say that you noticed the new hire getting so-and-so projects and you would like to work on those projects too.
good luck

i definitely don't want to compare myself but how he is handling the situation is not fair. both myself and the other woman are going to talk to him together about the situation.yes barb i guess i'm crazy, i'm a workaholic.

if u want harder work i would just ask ur boss..i think honesty is best policy in this situation...just say u feel ike u could be of more use etc etc....just be careful what u wish for

i agree just have the conversation with your boss. you are probably a good worker and an asset to the company so i dont think he'll do anything if you say something.... just explain that you would appreciate any challenging assignments that come along to be assigned to you...

Hmmm I totally understand the feeling like you need to bring up the new hire but I do agree with the other girls that you should focus the conversation on why YOU deserve harder work...not why SHE doesn.t ya know?I hope it works out!
