New Orleans

I've decided to plan a trip to New Orleans for our 1 year anniversary.
I've always wanted to go and am super excited about it.

Do any of you ladies have any advices or suggestions regarding hotels, eats, sights?

TIA

Re: New Orleans

We stayed at the Marriot right in the French Quarter and loved it. We were literally blocks from Bourbon Street and by all the action. There's tons of other hotels in the French Quarter that you can stay in.

Make sure you eat at Acme --- AMAAZING oysters. Like ridiculous and this was my first time eating them.

Go to Bourbon Street and get a 'Hurricane' - you just need one and you'll be good to go lol and will get a bunch of beads :P

I forget what they're called now, but it's the above ground train - get a day pass and go visit the Garden District, and other areas. You can do all this within a few hours, and it's a beautiful thing to see.

Loved New Orleans - enjoy!!!

Re: New Orleans

Take a swamp tour! Visit Oak Alley and other plantations. Go when there is Jazz fest definitely! or mardi gras/family gras.

Eat at Jacques imo's cafe - i love buttery corn bread. eat a po-boy. all so bad for you but so good!

touristy stuff near bourbon, just walk around, cafe du monde - coffee and beignets. Mother's - for some jambalaya or gumbo... don't expect 5 stars! I literally saw a lady get electrocuted there! that's not a joke, a worker got a shock on wet floor.... but it is a famous tourist spot to eat! I liked the jambalaya.

Mardi Gras world- so you can see all the floats in storage if you don't go around mardi gras time.

They've got a Harrah's casino too?

I can't remember what else at the moment.

Expect to gain weight and have fun!

OOOOPS! Not a newlywed yet, just snooping.. Good luck!

Re: New Orleans

I stayed at the Marriot as well, it was right in the middle of everything :) and it was so nice! The pool was closed :( but they let us use the pool across the street. My suggestions...have your palm read on burbon street, take the boat over to maradi GRAS world, go to the aquarium, try the slots at harrahs, sing karaoke at the cats meow, drink a hurricane, visit the outdoor flea market in the French quarter, Visit st Patrick's church....it's beautiful :) explore, explore, explore...but just be careful :)
