NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
Good Morning Ladies!Just a happynote to keep us going this morning! Today may be the Shortest day of the year and the First Day of Winter - however - beginning tomorrow, the days will start to become longer!
On to todays questions...
Lets be honest, we are all married now and DH's will never see this post. When you first saw your ering, were you happy? Was it really what you wanted? If you could change it, would you? Does DH know what you really think about your ring? Or are you in love with it as ever?

I had no say in my ering, never even gave hints and I was just ecstatic. I love my ring because he picked it out.

I love my ring, it is exactly what I wanted and DH picked it out himself. Round diamond with pave stones around the center diamond and on the band.
I actually gave him some pictures of rings I wasn't to fond of to see if he really knew my taste and he did.
I love my ring and would never change it.

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
my first ring was beautiful, and exactly what I wanted. But we had a hard time finding a wedding band that looked good with it. DH eventually decided to take the diamond out of my solitaire ring, and put it into a gorgeous setting. I never would have imagined having a ring like this, but now I am in love with it! And it matched my grandmother's wedding band perfectly.

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
At first sight I was confused, because it was similar (but different) than the one I sent to my DH over and over in an email for years
But, as it turns out, he bought the one I wanted, and when he got it the ring was very underwhelming (he got it from Blue Nile...they have amazing reviews so I'm not sure what happened.) It was yellow-ish. So he went to our local jeweler and got the ring he gave to me. I actually was like 'wait...what?' at first glance, but I actually love it even more than the one I picked out for myself!!! I get so many compliments on it still...he did SUCH a good job.
He returned the first one with no issues...and I held it side-by-side with my ring...the color (and size) were so different!

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
When you first saw your ering, were you happy?I was happy with it, DH took my suggestion to have two separate rings i saw combined to make it the one i wanted.
Was it really what you wanted?
It was, but I really thought the diamond would be bigger. and before you all think i'm a total gold digger, let me explain. DH comes from a very tradtional, OFT Italian Sicilian family, where they always have to show off and outdo everyone else. DH made sure that my ring was significantly larger than my sisters, just to prove a point. My ring is also much larger than SIL #1. SIL# 2 was married 3 years ago and when BIL bought her her ring, he bought her a 1.5 carat diamond center stone. DH bought my ring and its a 1.75 center stone, so its larger than SIL #2. I always play around with him jokingly that he should have just gone bananas and gotten a 2 carat diamond to really show off
If you could change it, would you?
I would probably go for a larger center diamond stone
Does DH know what you really think about your ring? Or are you in love with it as ever?
He knows that i LOVE my ring

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
I dropped hints about the ring I wanted, I told DH I wanted a round diamond that was set high and he could decide if there were side stones or not. I LOVED my e-ring!!!!!! But it was too high and broke
DH let me pick out a brand new setting and I'm even more in love with this one!!

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
I LOOOVEEE my ring!! we had been looking for a while together and i did not really see anything i was in love with.finally, i saw the perfect setting by hearts on fire (gorgeous but very overpriced). i also told him that i wanted the ring to be two-toned. i wanted white and gold.
so, totally to my surprise (as we continued looking together!!), he went to a jeweler and designed me ring. its a similar setting to hearts on fire, but better!! and its two-toned. its platinum with some yellow gold on the side.
its absolutely gorgeous and unique. i love it!

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
I have a very unique personality. I majored in renaissance history and LOVE all things antique.here were my hints to DH that i gave him in 2004 (like 6 months after we started dating). i tried to put it all out there right away:
- if it's less than 1 carat than it can't be a solitaire (laying down the law
)- i hate round or oval stones on my fingers because they are short and it makes them look shorter
- nothing crazy - one of my friends got a heart shaped diamond and personally i don't like it
- no baguettes - i hate those stones because i feel like they lose luster overtime. that's just me
- 'antique' looking
this is what i got (not the best picture but most of you have seen it before):

and it's right on the money! the only thing i would possibly change is to have the center stone set a little higher. it is a big stone but doesn't look as big as it could because it is set low next to the trillions

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
I picked out my e-ring.I had seen the setting and loved it and when we went to look at rings, I picked it.
Looking back I wish I had looked at maybe more antique-looking settings, a bit more intricate. I got engaged 7.5 years before I got married, so my tastes changed a bit. Also, my wedding band is my grandmother's from 1939 and I really can't wear the two together, so if I had known I would have chosen differently.

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
i picked it out a few months before he proposed. i love my ring. i was still taken back because i only saw it that one time it had been so long since i saw it, so it took me back like damn i cant believe this is my ring!!he actually picked it when we went ring shopping together he picked the setting and we chose the stone together.
i originally wanted a ring with colored stones around it. there was a vintage tacori with yellow diamonds that i wanted so bad but DH is very much a traditionalist and couldnt get behind an e-ring with any colored stones.

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
i picked out my ering but he had to go get it made b/c the place where i found mine was in vegas. i absolutely looooooove my ering. The only thing that i was thrown off by was the thick band b/c the original one was thinner but now i think it goes w/ the stone and all. i'm so happy! i wouldn't change it for anything

Re: NWQOTD *~*~*12/22/11*~*~*
I let him know the styles I liked, but he also had a pretty strong opinion. He would ONLY buy me something solitaire, he felt like an engagement ring should be just 1 stone, and that was fine with me. We did go ring shopping a few times, because I wanted to see what looked good on my pudgy fingers. I knew I wanted something with a thick band. We went to Tiffany's just for fun and I tried on the Lucida and fell in love, but still left it up to him. A year after that, he proposed. Got the ring made in the diamond district. Oh yea, my other requirement was that it had to be over 2 carats. He did good. It's like 2.00001 heheWelcome New Vendors
