Today is a hard one but it's a conversation that DH and I were having recently. We were watching some program about sex change and were amazed at how some men and women look after going through the transformation. We've come a long way from just putting on a wig or slapping on a mustache. People who have had sex changes can and do, look very convincing as the opposite sex.

Which leads to my question. If DH were to confess that he was born female, could you stay with him? And vice versa? I mean really think about it. You two have obviously already fallen in love. Are sexually attracted to each other. He now has all the right parts. But mentally, could you get over it?

Kind of a heavy question for a friday, sorry! But DH and I love having bizarre what if discussions like this

Mentally I honestly don't think I could. Don't get me wrong I love him for the person that he is and am sexually attracted to him. But for someone who I trust in so much to keep that big of a secret from me would hurt me too much. Basically keeping that secret is protecting the person that had the sex change from being judged by the one they love. I just don't think it's right.

I had to think about it for a while but I honestly don't think I could get over knowing DH was born a woman. I would feel very betrayed and tricked. I just mentally couldn't get over it and I think our sex life would be shot!

Dh said ' no offense but he couldn't be with me if I was born a male.' He didn't really elaborate

Sorry, couldn't do it. I think i would be heartbroken and shattered at the lack of trust in me and our relationship that he wouldn't have been able to tell me something so big earlier on.
I know for a fact that DH would not be able to stay with me as well.

ugh, honestly, i don't think i can do it. i mean, yea he/she is the person i fell in love w/ but mentally, i would always be picturing a woman and i wouldn't be able to block that out. i would be devastated

this was the show transgender america with lisa ling. awesome shows. The man above was born tina! he was AMAZING. omg would never think he was born a woman on the show.

I dont think I can get over it. Althought I do love him and he makes me feel great sexually, it's difficult.

On the other hand, I dont think he could be with me if I was born as a man.

No one really knows how they would react unless put in the situation. That being said, I think I would be much more excepting than DH would be of me. On a positive note, I would hope that if he were born a woman, he would remember to put the toilet seat down....LOL

You would know. Medical procedures have come a long way, but doctors can't replicate genitalia from a female to male transition. It's not a secret people would be able to hide if they were intimate with their partners .

I've had a few transgendered students and listened to quite a few of their stories (personally and through panel discussions). It's a ridiculously tough journey!

I don't think I would be able to get over it. I don't feel that its a secret one should keep from eachother.

On the note about coming a long we I had two friend in college that changed from men to women and omg they looked like barbies I couldn't believe it.

I really don't think I would ever be able to stay with him because although I love him, he lied to me and trust in a relationship is my number one thing! Once you loose my trust, you loose me.
