~*NWQOTD Monday*~

First off I want to thank eternitybride for naming me as NWOTW. When I was a newborn NW this board was so slow and it took a few months for it to get hoppin. I thought I missed out on my chance, but I guess not! Thank you!

That being said, I've seen so many NWQOTD it's hard not to repeat any, but I'm going to try really hard not to. So my first question is...

Since the wedding, have you noticed any major changes in your relationships with your family? What about DH's family?

I would definitely say there's been a change. My mom has always treated me like more of an adult than a kid, but since the wedding it seems as if she treats me more like an equal now than just her daughter, like we've reached the 'my daughter is my best friend' phase of our relationship. We still have issues, but she's more willing to lean on me when she's stressed out and needs advice. My dad, on the other hand, has totally regressed and constantly hugs me and calls me by my pet names because he misses me so much (especially now that we've moved to California). I almost feel like I need to give him a Grandchild to calm him down.

As for DH's family, I don't think his relationships with them have changed that much. I think if anything, they tend to exclude him more because they always think he's too busy with my family to bother with them, which I know hurts his feelings.

Since we got married, DH's family has been so incredibly loving and kind to me. They have really gone out of their way to treat me like a daughter. They are generous and loving, I feel really lucky.

Def...I see a lot less of his family which isn't really a bad thing.


I think we see a little more of my family b/c we have our own place so they come visit a lot.

DH and my family's relationship hasn't changed much. The only difference is now my mom loves to say things like 'my son in law' or 'your husband' which is kind of cute.

No, I don't think so. The one change/adjustment is that a few weeks before the wedding we moved into the apt upstairs in my parents' house. We lived together on our own for a year, so at first (before the wedding) there were some big fights with my me and my mom. But it's been better now. I think we just had to get adjusted to the change. Other than that, things are the same with my family. We just see them more now since we live upstairs, but there are days we dont see them at all.

With his family, no change. Everything is pretty much the same.

Nothing has changed with my parents...things kind of hit a fever pitch with my ILs...my MIL has been kind of really horrific leading up to and since the wedding. I hate her.

We have always been super close to our families & it hasnt changed at all. We are very lucky to amazing families that we love to be with all of the time.

big changes with dhs fam. we no longer speak/see his grandma and aunt uncle. they caused major drama before our wedding and than said they werent coming the last day possible to rsvp. they never acknowledged our wedding or our daughters birth.

That's really horrible, I'm sorry. We had some issues with some of DH's family pre-wedding so they didn't even bother to RSVP a no, but they eventually came around when his dad was sick.

Nothing has changed. My DHs parents are in FL.. and my mom is here. Everything is exactly the same.

I've gotten much closer with DH's family. Unfortunately I can't say the same about mine. I barely talk to my oldest sister anymore
