Thank you Ali for choosing me this week! I hope I do well!!

So, school started for me today!!!! Happy to be back in a routine (finally) and see the kiddies again!! I get to relive coming back to school (elementary) with the excitement and confusion, so my question:

If you can remember, what was your favorite memory of elementary school and why???

I loved coming back to see my friends but I always wanted to visit my old teachers!! And I don't know if anyone else experienced this but the first couple of days always had a 'school fresh' smell!! So cool!! I'm weird I know!!

Congrats on becoming NWOTW and on your first day of going back to school - so exciting!!!

I didn't start school until the last 2 weeks of 4th grade, so unfortunately I never got to go to Kindergarden, 1st-4th grade, which sucks because I feel like a lot of people have memories from those years. Oh well. What I do remember is not speaking a word of English, not knowing how to really write anything (especially in English), and feeling like the little refugee in the corner. Not fun at all, 5th grade got a bit better, but it wasn't until the 6th/7th grade that I finally started having friends, truly learning things, etc. I'm excited now because my nieces are both in elementary school and I'm kinda living it thorugh them - seeing how excited they are for their first day, getting new clothes/back-packs, etc. It's awesome.

This is one memory that really sticks out

I think it is because our nephew started Kindergarten today, so I was thinking about this this morning...

I had a really mean Kindergarten teacher. Like, she should have retired 10 years before I made it into her Kindergarten class! Anyways, we were coloring in letters at the little tables one day (it was a letter M and I was coloring it in red) and the principal came to the door and started talking to her. I started watching them instead of my paper, and colored outside the lines of the M.

And she yelled at me!

Who does that?!

My favorite memory from elementary school was my now DH picking on me on the school bus

It wasn't at the time!!

my favorite memory was in kindergarten when this little girl asked to sit next to me because she liked my teddy ruxpin bear. That girl became my best friend, and 20 years later became my MOH talking about this exact moment in her speech
