NWqotd Sunday July 31st
Dh and I saw Crazy Stupid Love yesterday and there was a running theme of 'one, true soulmate' throughout the movie. Do u believe this? Do u believe that DH is ur soulmate and there is only one soulmate for each person on earth?

Re: NWqotd Sunday July 31st
My friends and I had this conversation just a couple of weeks ago. We got very 'deep,' so please excuse the long response. I do not believe in fate; I believe in God, ultimate rewards for good behavior, and that He ultimately wants us to be happy. Therefore, I think that every single person is born with the potential for greatness in at least one area - whether that is finding your perfect mate, obtaining your dream career, etc. (or a mixture of some of these). Like I said, everyone is born with good and potential. We all have gifts. However, it is entirely up to each individual's free will as to how she/he chooses to utilize these gifts or abilities.
I think if you work hard and to your fullest potential, in the field of love, you do ultimately wind up with a person who is perfect for you. Like I said, I don't believe in 'fate,' so I wouldn't say someone who you are 'meant' to be with necessarily, but rather the person that makes you completely and totally happy because you have both made a concentrated effort to make a relationship work, to put your all into a relationship, etc.
When things don't work out, I won't say, 'It isn't meant to be,' but I will say 'Look to the positive. How can this situation improve?' Personal positive decisions are rewarded.

I'm not sure if I believe in only 1 soulmate..people change over time so I think people make others happy in a different way.For example if God forbid someone become a widow at a young age (I guess cause this happened to my mom I think about it) I think they can find someone who they feel close too in a different way...KWIM

thank you for your well thought out answer! very eloguently written and i agree with much of it.
I don't think I believe in fate or destiny myself...then what is the point of having free will if you are bound by 'destiny' to end up one way or another? I do believe in keeping an eye out for signs that the universe sends you to guide you in the right direction.
I also don't believe in one soul mate...while it's romantic, it's also depressing as well. If you were to lose your loved one at a very young age, does that mean you will never fall deeply in love again?
I always thought it was kind of messed up when at the end of the movie titanic, Rose dies and is reunited withJack...
what about her husband who she spent the majority of her life with?? that sucks.

While I don't exactly believe that there is only ONE person who can be your soulmate in life, I do believe in some sort of fate. When I look at my relationship with DH, there are an infinite number of signs that just attest to the fact that we are meant for one another. That does make me feel like he is my soulmate.
However, I do believe that people change over time, and regardless of how or why two people are brought together, the 'soulmate' relationship can change and have different depth and meaning depending on who the person is and at what time in your life that person is present.
