NWQotD Weekend Edition

If you or DH got an amazing job opportunity across the country would you move?
I would, but I want out of NY bad. I know my mother refused to move away when her and my dad were newlyweds.

Re: NWQotD Weekend Edition

If you asked me a couple years ago, I would've said yes, in a heartbeat. I was really not digging NYC at all, even though I'm born and raised here.

Now my answer would be 'depends on the location'. I've been to most major cities in the US, and none of them hold a candle to NYC. The only one I would be gung-ho about immediately would be Seattle.

My opinion of the city changed when DH told me to stop focusing in what I hate about it, and focus on what I love. And he's right...my list of what I love about NYC is much longer than my list of what I dislike about it.

Re: NWQotD Weekend Edition

I'll one up the question as we just had a fairly intense conversation at dinner last night...

But, I will kind of start my answer with the summary. Regardless of where we may/may not move we both could NEVER imagine 'settling down' anywhere other then NY Metro area (we don't want to live in the city but we want to be within a stone's throw....Westchester or LI)

DH has something pending in DC that he REALLY wants...so if he gets it, we will move to DC....soon.

He also has a mentor who appears to be cooking up an overseas opportunity for DH...and if he wants that, we will move overseas!

So ya, for the RIGHT opportunity - we would move just about anywhere for 2-3 years. My heart would definitely be a little heavy being so far away from my parents...but again, 2 - 3 years would be the MAX.

Re: NWQotD Weekend Edition

with ZERO hesitation.

because i don't want to stay here anyways because of how expensive it is... and because i've already moved a zillion times already for the short term and already made one 'permanent' move across the country.

DH is the one who has never lived anywhere else. in fact getting him to move out to suffolk county is as big of a move as he's made. he lived at home or around the corner form his parents for the first 31 years of his life.
