ok girls I need some help

so now that the reception is over we are doing our church ceremony....seriously this is giving me HUGE anxiety...planning an entire wedding was easier than doing a church ceremony!!!

Here is my dilemma....my church that I grew up in and made all my sacraments in has a $600 fee and they do not offer pre cana I will have to go through the diocese which is another $300 fee...Ok I am having palpatations bc I am already at $900 before the flowers, pew decos, programs...I really never thought the church and pre cana would be that much.

So a question to my suffolk girls...can you help me???? am I ust dilusional and just in sticker shock or are these the going rates?

We paid 700 to the church and 300 for precana :( so it is the goi g rate!!!

The church I got married in I think was cheaper for pre cana - but its in riverhead. The fees were 400 and then the singer and organ was another 275. I dont remember waht it cost for pre cana but it wasn't 50. I didnt do it there, but they dont offer it very often.

My church fee was $650 and it included cantor, organ, etc. The pre-cana was $200.

Can you go through a local florist to get a better rate on church decorations? I went through a local florist and found that decor, flowers, etc were more affordable than the 'wedding florists'.

Also, you don't NEED to do programs but maybe you can do them yourself. I printed my programs at home, Staples also prints for cheap, you just have to have the file and they do the rest. I spent less than $25 on 75 programs.

My church fee was $700 too...but our precana was only $50 or $75. I think $75.

As for the church decorations...I didn't get any flowers at all for the church, and it was totally fine. The church actually suggested that I didn't get any flowers, because they do every week. The altar had a ton of flowers, none that I had to pay for. Maybe ask your church what they do?

I was planning on doing pew bows, but I just ran out of time. If you want to decorate that way, I think Michael's has them for really cheap.

Oh and I also skipped programs...ran out of time for that one too. The ONLY thing that bothered me...I really wanted them.

You can make them yourself (maybe in Word?) and print them with your printer...you'd only have to pay for paper and ink!

I paid about a thousand dollars to get married at my church...... my brother in law made pew bows which never made it to church - didn't even notice. there was already alter flowers so we didn't need any. I had help from a friend to make our own programs... def didn't even need programs. i made almost 100 i think i have like 50 left :/

I am def going with a local florist :) they are def way cheaper! Thank you! My mom is calling today since she used to do Ccd classes at that church and my grams was VERY big in the church. Apparently some of my friends that got married there have gotten quoted different fees with pre Cana included ( the church does offer it but the priest said there is no class ) which is funny bc I just found out that my friend did a one on one pre cana with her fh the deacon and his wife at their house....... hopefully mom gets some answers! :)

I'm def not decorating the church with flowers just need bouquets for me my sis an 2 sister in laws and then mini bouquet for the moms. And I'm thinking mini kissing balls for the flower girls bc the church has rules about not dropping petals.

I paid 500 and that included precana but I decided to do precana at St Patrick instead because it was only one weekend for 75 so

total 575
