Where are you located?Definitely try the Fire Houses, VFWs are also good but they require you to use their alcohol.

Ahh sorry I'm no help in Suffolk. My mom called a lot of places like this for my shower.
I'd do a little google searching before I just started calling random fire houses.
Also, check out places like the New York City Irish Center which is where I had my shower. That particular one is in LIC, but I know my cousin had her daughter's Christening at an Irish American Center in Nassau.

Re: okay wedding planners...a new task
i know the firehouse my dad volunteers at does rent out the room/bar they have, but i beleive you have to be a member or family of a member to actually be able to rent it, not sure if all of the fh' s are the same! that is worth a shot!but def if not that then a vfw hall def lets you have a dj and bring your own booze.
trying to think what else...
what if you even have it at a local bar, might be just as much money to do an open bar for a number of house as it would to buy all your own booze...and some places you can include appetizers

What about in a private room in a restaurant? That might be a better deal if you can upgrade to an open bar in the package..

I know the Hibernian Hall in Babylon Village does it, but that might be a little far west for you. I've been to lots of parties there.
