OMG realtor just walked into my apartment...

ok so DH and I live in manhattan and are moving into a new apartment aug 1st. so they are trying to rent our apartment out and have been showing it to people.

they asked if they could have a key so they could come by whenever. We first said no because we dont want them showing it when we arent home (we have a dog so we don't want people coming in and out when we are at work). They said they promised to call first but it would be easier if we are all out they can still get in...so we finally said yes but they MUST call first.

Yesterday...i got home and was sweating to death so i was like in this tiny nightgown...all of a sudden the realtor comes to the door (luckily she knocked)...but i had to jump up and change and get the dog. She apologized for not calling but i was annoyed. DH called and said this is not acceptable you have to call first.

Today....DH just went to meet a friend for drinks so I am sitting on the couch alone (thankfully dressed lol)....a realtor just walks into my apartment I jumped up like ummm what the heck (a different realtor but from the same company). I am soo friggin mad!! They are out of control...what don't you understand about call first...and you just walk into the apartment?!?!!? grrrrrrrrr!!!

DH is fuming and is like I am calling them and we are getting that key back!

That's awful!!!! I feel like you need to ask the landlord to cut the sh*t or give you money back for the trouble!!!!!!!!

I would tell them to leave when they show up unannounced. Im sure in your lease there is a clause about showing the place but i'm sure it also states that both parties need to be reasonable and showing up unannounced and not even knocking first is not reasonable.

OMG! That's insane!!!! I would be livid. Get that key back pronto!!!!!

ugh yeah i am too nice and i let them show the apartment....but I just feel bad for the people that came to check it out. I know how annoying apartment hunting is and if they went out of their way to come see it I wanna let them. both days the person coming to look felt awful when they heard the realtor say 'sorry for not calling...blah blah'. Its not their fault.so i felt bad and let them in.

i think we just really have to demand the key back so this doesnt happen anymore!

Thats UNACCEPTABLE!!! Take the key..

My realtor make sure she calls a million time before even allowing another realtor to come by.. Hope you work things out soon.. G/L

get a door stopper that you can use from the inside. i used to have one in my old apartment. it is good for safety....and for crazy realtors!

Omg!!!!!!! I am soooooo mad for you!!!!! I would tell them to come up then have them walk in while u r having sex on the floor...that should make them call first

YES!!!!! good idea, next time you hear the door opening start moaning!

seriously write an email ot realtor documenting these incidents and demanding kay back as well as some sort of compensation

Do you have a chain lock you can use while you're home so they definitely can't just barge in? I'd hate for them to barge in if you were in the shower/bathroom ... or doing other private things ...

i actually have a top and bottom lock...we only gave them a key for the top one bc we normally only lock that one...so today when I left for work I made sure to lock both so they wouldnt be able to get in while we are out. I dont trust them anymore!

GOOD, and you should keep both locked at all times from now on! It's a complete lack of courtesy, etc. (I could go on!) for them to come in unannounced.

When you are home keep the chain on the door. Or jam the door witha chair.

If they come by unannounced you DONT LET THEM IN!.

wowwww!!!!! thats crazy, i would call em up and start cursin them out. i understand their tryin to sell the apt, but they said theyd call before they come. w t f is that all about?! id be soo mad.
