Our First Anniversary <3

I don't post on here much but thought I would share our first anniversary with you which was August 15.

DH had to work on Saturday the 14th and when he got home I had a candle light dinner waiting for him. One of his faves, chicken marsala.

On Sunday the 15th we were lazy getting up and then made our way to a few wineries/vineyards (we're in VA btw) and saw an old church that was built in 1757. We went out to dinner to a place we've never been to before. DH wanted Italian. The food was good but the atmosphere was a little on the casual side. No big deal.

Afterwards, we got back home to exchange cards and open the ones that were sent to us from family members (another story for another day but a little hurt MIL didn't send a card. My parents and FIL did as well as my 2 aunts, grandma and cousin. DH's family isn't one to send cards to begin with but they are also the people who believe an anniversary is for the couple celebrating only). Anyway, DH and I decided no gift exchanging this year. Then we pour some champagne and toasted to our first year and nervously cut into our year-old wedding cake.

The cake was great! I've heard good and bad stories and I'm so happy ours was a success (La Bonne bakery in Port Jeff. Giorgio's staff boxed it up). I had taken the cake out of the freezer on Fri the 13th and left it in the refridgerator until Sun when we got home from dinner. It sat out for about a half hour.

After we cut into our cake we ate it and watched our wedding video. Hard to believe it's been a full year already! Then we called it a night because the next day we were heading to VA Beach for 3 nights.

VA Beach was great! A little rain but no big deal. The reason we chose to go there is because that''s where we got engaged in 2007. Although we didn't stay at the same hotel we made a point to walk past and see the balcony DH proposed on and the restaurant we ate at that night, On our way back home we made a stop at Busch Gardens and Water Country USA to end our vacation.

One year down, a lifetime to go!

yay! glad the cake was still good... ours was from la bonne/giorgios too so thanks for letting me know how you defrosted it.. i was planning on putting it in the fridge a few days b4 also.
