Question-Re Friend's Shower

Hi Ladies,
We're planning a bridal shower for my best friend and she knows about it-no surprise. However, we would like to come up with a few things for that day to surprise her with. Any suggestions on cute unique things that we could do for her (aside from just the bridal party gift-which we are planning on doing) I guess just little touches that we could add to make it extra special and unique for her.
TIA

Re: Question-Re Friend's Shower

How about the bridal shower candle basket. Here's the poem and meaning of each candle

A Basket of Candles For (Bride's name)

A basket of candles that come in a pair
in all different colors, for you two to share.
The white ones burn first;
they are wrapped in white lace
to celebrate your first married night
in your new chosen place.
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner;
burn with the first company you have over for dinner.
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight;
use them to burn while making up all night.
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
for your first married Valentine’s Day.
Now, when your first year of marriage is through,
the cream anniversary pair, will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright;
celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
you can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you’d put these away,
take the light blue ones out for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left - for the big 'two five' -
the anniversary pair that will keep your love alive.
Congratulations (Bride and Groom)
on the start of your forever.
May the two of you always be happy together.
And burn these candles just the way we said,
but please don’t forget: blow them out before bed!

-- Candle Poem Bridal Shower --

For this gift, you will need two of each color candle:

White
Green
Navy blue
Pink
Cream
Red
Purple
Light blue
Silver - although the bridal shower candle poem doesn't mention this color directly, silver symbolizes twenty-five years of marriage.

Re: Question-Re Friend's Shower

I also saw at a shower where the bride received a basket from each member of the bridal party filled with holiday decorations. Each BM was assigned a holiday, and created a basket filled with cute household decorations. Loved this idea, and wished someone would've done this for me

Re: Question-Re Friend's Shower

How about putting together a newlywed cookbook? I went to a shower and the MOH sent a blank recipe card with each shower inviation and asked for each guest to share arecipe by mailing the card to her. MOH then had a spiral cookbook made and they gave it out as the favor. I thought it was such a great idea!

This is such a great idea I'm going to have to remember this one for a future shower I go to.

Re: Question-Re Friend's Shower

I made my sister in law a football survival kit. My BIL loves the Jets and SIL loves Heineken. I took a metal ice bucket and put a Heineken mini keg in the middle, used a box to tilt it up so she could see it! Then I taped Taco Bell, McDonald's, and Dominoes gift cards to the keg. Then I added green cups for the beer and a jets shirt. I also added two pairs of green underwear, a lacy pair and a thong. Then to top it all off I wrote a cute story about how to use it. I can't remember exactly hat I wrote but it was super cute! If you really want to know FM me and I can try an remember! Noone believed me when I said it was an original idea! It was a great success!
