Returned my china from the shower

All I have to say is...............DH was absolutely right! It was a waste to put the Vera Wang fine china on the registry

Our friends and family got us everything EXCEPT the china for my bridal shower.

I figured we'd use the 3 place settings eventually-but then a few weeks ago I went to a bridal shower for a friend, and she didn't register for any china at all. And I had a lightbulb moment and was like 'why did I register for that?'

So yesterday DH brought the china to return to Bloomies (it was like 3 place settings, 4 wine glasses, 2 serving dishes and a serving utensil)...ummmmmmmm we now have store credit for $900 bucks!!

We're totally gonna buy new home stuff that we'll actually USE.....

And we literally just made the cutoff because our registry expires 1 year from the wedding date (Oct 3). YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

Doesnt pay to register for super duper expensive china IMO... but it def worked out in your situation

Re: Returned my china from the shower

I never registered for fine china either. My reasoning was that if I know a plate is worth over $100, there is no way I'm letting anyone eat off of it. In the end, my mom took the liberty of buying us the Mikasa Parchment set. To me it looks like fine china but it's priced like casual china.

I think maybe if we had a house we wouldn't have returned it....and if we had gotten all of it (or at least the majority of stuff we would have kept it all.

BUT right before we got engaged, we bought ourselves gorgeous every day plates/silverware/glasses from Crate and Barrel. Which we always end up using anyway.
If we were going to complete our china set, to complete it would be over $2,000!!

SO instead we're now getting some Le Crueset cookwarse and a deluxe keurig. And a nice pair or 2 of shoes

Re: Returned my china from the shower

That's awesome!!! If we ever get a house lol, I'm debating returning my box set of Parchment...only would be a $200 credit, but I've got service for 8 in Countryside Italian, service for 8 of the Pottery Barn Reindeer collection for the holidays, plus 2 patterns of service for 4 everyday plates...dishes up the wazoo! So do I really need another service for 8? I just wish I'd get 900 for mine too
