My MIL swears by compare foods for the pernil. She says they have the best price.

Re: spin off to food shopping question

I go to target and shop&stop. Target has my lean cuisines for under $2 all the time and usually has good sales on snack foods (like the 100 calorie packs and baked chips).

Stop&Shop I really like b/c they have boar's head meats and I feel like its the cleanest supermarket near me.

I also usually try to find which store has a good sale on cans of soda, b/c DH drinks coke 0 like its his job.

Re: spin off to food shopping question

we only shop at Stop & shop cause its so close to our apt. but now we're moving in a house and the closest supermarket is King Kullen and i'm not sure how i feel about that. i'd be willing to drive a little further to get my Stop & Shop fix in!

i always spend more at stop and shop. plus i think their meat is rank.
cheap is def pathmark but im not crazy about their meat section either. i like king kullen meat or walbaums meat.

ITA on the stop and shop meat!! also, the veggies and fruit isn't always good..... last weekend every single box of strawberries was full of mold!!

Re: spin off to food shopping question

i always go to Stop & Shop and Target.

Pathmark is cool but I always find it's their brand on sale...not a major brand.

i used to live near a Shop Rite and they were hands down the cheapest

Re: spin off to food shopping question

Shop Rite and Waldbaums are our favorite.

We throw Target and Trader Joe's in there too.

Re: spin off to food shopping question

I go mostly to Trader Joe's and Stop Shop for my larger things.

For my meat, I go to the Butcher, for my fruit and vegetables to the fruit stand. I'm strange about where shop, I still buy breads from the bakery and specialty cheeses and cans of tomatoes from the Italian store. These all happen to be within two blocks from my house.

Re: spin off to food shopping question

I actually think Waldbaum's has pretty good prices...for the stuff I buy, I find that Stop and Shop is more expensive than Waldbaum's (brand for brand). I'll go to both though, depending on the sales. I find overall the produce is much better quality wise at Stop and Shop, though not always less money. When I lived at home my mother would go to King Kullen, and I always thought that it was very expensive there.

ETA: Trader Joe's is very reasonable for frozen healthy foods, but their meat is VERY expensive.

Re: spin off to food shopping question

I shop at Wild by Nature which is an Organic store. So its pricey but Stop & Shop has better prices then Waldbaums for sure.
