ugh i feel so stupid!

this woman called my office and said she had just gotten disconnected from our marketing manager while she was in the middle of getting some email addresses, so i said 'ok hold on one minute and i'll transfer you.' well she called back 30 seconds later and said it went straight to vm so i looked and the mktg manager was on the phone so that's what i told her. so she said, 'ok, then maybe you can just finish giving it to me.' and then she asked me for the ceo's email address and i was really torn about giving it to her but in the end decided it was probably fine since she said that the marketing manager was giving it to her and she even let me transfer her, etc. well come to find out it was a lady from a client that we've been having some issues with!!!!! and she's been trying to get it from other ppl by emailing them but i guess no one is responding to her. i feel so stupid but at the same time i'm so angry bc 1. she lied to me 2. no one told me that this woman could be calling to get it and not to give it to her and 3. i was stupid enough to believe her and give out the ceo's email address

I probably would have done the same thing! How would you know unless someone told you this crazy woman has been calling trying to get this info! Don't stress!

I would have done the same thing, and honestly, if no one warned you about her then it's their own fault.
