was it just too early on?
I just realized last night that SIL never invited me to her baby shower ....Her son was born two years ago which means DH and I were together for about 10 months at that point (not yet engaged or even living together yet)not that i wanted to go cause this is the SIL i don't like ... but shouldn't she have invited me anyhow?
MIL gave me hell about doing the 'proper' thing and inviting all sorts of idiots who didn't deserve it to the wedding .... wouldn't she have given SIL the same hell?

Re: was it just too early on?
i think showers are for a more select groupi know even for my bridal shower (i didnt invite all females, only close females), i didnt invite girlfriends of DH's good good friends. why? they were dating under a year, we didnt know where the relationship was going, and i didnt want to look desperate for gifts. meanwhile....now a few of them are happily engaged/married. of course they were invited to the wedding, but not the shower
but i think for IL relationships, its a bit different, so i probably would have invited you......
but just as a friend, probably not....

Re: was it just too early on?
My SIL wrote out her wedding invitation to us as Mr. Lawrence M and Guest.... after we were living together and engaged
Bottom line: some people think they are the exception to the etiquette rules. they are stupid.

Maybe she figured that you guys were together under 1 year, so she didn't. I've heard people use the 1 year mark.
