Wedding Photos

is anyone else not happy with the way they came out?
we paid alot for our pics, and i mean alot and i thought they were going to be fabulous, but they are just ok. we didn't even break 1,000 pictures

I'm sorry to hear that! Were you expecting certain kind of shots that you didn't get, or is it the editing that bugs you?

I know exactly how you feel. We barely got 350 and alot of the standard pic werent taken. Have you let your photographer know that you didnt like them?

I haven't recieved all my proofs yet so I will have to let you know but yeah, I'm soooo nervous to see them all because we paid a lot of money too and I will be so disappointed if they aren't what I expected...

maybe do a trash the dress with another photog to get more pics?

is it the quality you are disapointed with or the amount?

I'm REALLY nervous about this, too. I haven't gotten mine yet, but all I keep thinking about is the photos I know I DIDN'T get (like a shot with just me, DH and our nieces/nephew or ANYTHING with my grandma).

What about yours are you disappointed with?

You really need only a few pictures of you and DH that you LOVE. You'll put up your standard enlargement and slowly your house will be filled with new pictures of you guys and your children (if you choose to have them). You'll need some good pictures for the album too, but you won't really look at the rest.

I know it's disappointing, I HATED my pictures at first, but then I really looked through them and made piles -- 1 pile that I loved , 1 pile that I liked, and 1 pile that I hated. I was surprised how many made it into the like pile and from there, I moved a lot more to the love pile.

thanks, this really does put it into perspective for me a little. but i'm still upset, lol.
its not that i don't like my pics but i really am miffed because we spend over $7500 on pics alone and i thought we would get at least over 1,000 pics. Most of them were standard shots - nothing outside of the box and not very photojournalistic at all. Some shots that i really wanted are missing and some of them are just effed up. Like when we first kiss walking down the aisle after we are married. we got one shot, but its so far away you can barely see us. that's it, no other shots of that. very dissapointed. then, when we first made our entrance and our bridal party made an arch with their hands and we walked under, he got one pic of us kissing each other but our BM had swung his hand out at that exact moment and our BM and his hand ruined the pic and that was it. no other shot of us underneath the hand canopy looking at the camera or another one b/c he would have said, oh! that guy was in the pic let me take it again..no...
FH wants a really nice pic for our enlargement - obvi, but we don't have any good ones! we got gorgeous pics outside but they are all closeups or we are all looking away from the camera! not at the camera! none where you can really appreciate the background

Unforunately yes...and I got my album layout and was even more disappointed in that... I am having trouble even editing my album and picking enlargements because I'm really just not a fan of them.

Hopefully when you get your album layout you will loveee it.

Are you sure these are all the photos? Maybe they are just the edited ones! Definitely speak to your photographer. Does your contract outline how many photos are typical for your package?

i agree, great advice. I did something similar when some pics were posted on my photog's blog. I didn't like a few AT all and at first could only criticize those but the ones I LOVE, i absolutely adore so I'm satisfied...for now lol. still have to see the rest.

Our contract doesn't state it either, but I was hoping maybe yours had an average to expect so that you had something to hold over their heads. Maybe you'll feel differently once they are edited?

i have to say, the quality is amazing as it is, so once they are edited they will look even better. but just not much to pick from and there are repeat shots galore!

At least that's something! And like everyone said, you won't ever look at all of them! We have tons of unedited pictures from Duet, and 500 edited photos. I only ever look at those 500 and about halfway through them I get bored.

We spent about the same on ours and I am NOT happy. I don't even have a shot of DH and I that I can use as a formal to blow up. The shots they took with my grandparents are horrendous and I have hardly any of me and my bridal party. We ended up with under 1k photos and yeah people who end up with higher numbers sometimes have tons of dupes and we really didn't but they didn't take any of us inside the Woodlands (ok one) but I must have told them at least 10 times how much I loved the inside of the venue. They kept me outside forever and by the time I realized what time it was there wasn't enough time left to take any other pics indoors. And even the pics we got of our first dance stunk. I had better shots from random people. Of course they're not good quality so I can[t use them for anything but it annoys me to know that random people got better shots of us dancing than my photogs. They hardly got any of our BP walking down the aisle at our ceremony and the ones they got of the during the entrances were even worse. They are my biggest regret about the wedding.

Also remember that those aren't photoshoped yet. Anything too far can be pulled in, hands can be taken out, and more. Just voice your concerns and they should be able to fix those thongs for you.
