What to wear??

I'm going to a marketing party with my brother tomorrow to help him promote his buisness (since my SIL is out of town)... I know they have a 'blue' carpet and a step and repeat. They are having a CH and a reception all at the Allegria hotel.

What do I wear??? I want to look professional but it's also a party.... HELP!! This is all new to me lol

sofisticated/trendy??? does that even make sense??? (i.e. stuff like in Express)...

Do you have a black dress thats more on the business side rather than a party dress? That with balck pumps would be perfect I think

I dont' but I am going shopping for it today so I can try and find one. I wear jeans to work. That's my problem... lol

I think I would wear a black pencil skirt with a nice possibly trendy silk blouse and pumps. And obviously nothing too revealing.
