Who knows how customs work while on a cruise?

Who knows how customs work while on a cruise?

I want to bring back cigarettes and booze from my cruise. I know they allow 200 cigarettes and 2 liters of liquor. What happens if you bring more than that? I know you have to pay taxes but do you do it on the ship or airport or when you get home? I remember the last time I had to fill out a paper with everything I bought but I didnt go over the allotted amount. This time I think I will.

If memory serves me correctly, its when you get off the ship.


So if I am paying it when I get off the ship I will have no problems at the airport then right??

As far as I remember, you pay when you get off ship. Since you're disembarking in US, you should have no issue w/ plane. But check about liquor, being that its a liquid. Don't know if there's an issue w/ that.

When you get off the ship- right there at customs. Though we've ALWAYS taken more cigarettes and liquor than that and stuffed it in our suitcases. We've never been stopped or searched or charged.

yes...think about this. cuz even if you buy liquor, you will need to check it in at the airport since its a liquid. so be sure to leave room in your suitcase, and pack it in a bag, in the middle of clothes so nothing happens to the bottles

we did this coming home from italy, and everything (thankfully) was OK. but we could not take it as a carry on

We put the Liquor we brought back from our HM in our suitcase and had no problems. But we wrapped it real good.
