2004 Wedding/Reception Review
It's our 1 year anniversary coming up and I have been meaning to post my wedding info from 2004....We had eloped to Turks and Caicos and had a wedding reception weeks later at Bridgeview Yacht Club.
Wedding/Honeymoon Location : Turks & Caicos
Wedding ceremony: private ceremony on the beach at sunset..
so beautifully intimate and romantic
Hotel: Ocean Club..pretty beach and very good service ..too bad there
is condo construction is going up where we got married.
Wedding Coordinator: Beatrix. She was so nice and calming.
Hair: Captain Hook - they were so nice and my hair turned out really pretty. (I did not go for trial)
Bride's Dress- long white lace halter dress made by Watters and Watters that I bought online with free shipping...got it faster than
any New York store.
Alterations: Anne Hamilton...very reasonably priced.
Groom's suit - tuxedo from Syms...bargain !
Photographs and video: Tropical Imaging - Excellent..absolutely beautiful pictures. Andy was wonderful. We didnt do too many portrait pictures which we didnt want.
Announcement/Invitations - Celebrations Ink - we chose William Arthur invitations that were aqua blue (tiffany like) bordered in white with Indigo letters and seashell motif on top.
Enid was wonderful and helpful. The invitation
turned out gorgeous.
Bridal shower - my sisters threw a girls dinner party at Bouterain after I got married. It's very pretty restaurant...beautiful flowers
Registry - China Wedgewood Gold Crown, Crystal Waterford Araglin
Reed and Barton Sienna, Riedel wine glasses
Bridgeview Yacht Club - prefect place for a Caribbean themed party because they are on the water. Pretty place and reasonably priced. I am surprised that not too manypeople know to have their venues here...they are close to LIRR, too. We were lucky because they had
a cancellation and we booked immediately.
Reception: 90 people
- Food and service were excellent. Kathy was very easy to work with and gave us advice about what would or would not work.
The chef gave us tastings on our entrees b/c we were undecided about the menu.
Cocktail Hour: Coconut Shrimp, Sesame Chicken, Parmesan Artichoke hearts, Cheese and Fruit platter,
Open-bar throughout !
Entrees:
We had Jerk Chicken, Mahi Mahi with mango salsa, and prime rib.
Dessert: miniatures and chocolate covered strawberries
Cake: Chocolate cake and white buttercream frosting
Flowers: Flowers by Topaz - beautiful beautiful beautiful. The centerpieces
were a little bit tropical and very elegant.
Cocktail Hour: Adlib Steel Band - Excellent performance by this young and talented group. They were very reasonable and got everyone in the Caribbean mood for the
party's theme.
Music: Projekkt
They had a cancellation and we booked 3 pieces..they were amazing !
First Dance Song: Come Away with me by Norah Jones...quite fitting since we eloped
Caribbean/Tropical/Beach theme Party favor:
We brought home Turks and Caicos coffee
with us. We were given a tour and we roasted our own coffee ! They are a start up business so they were so happy that we found them. We were their first wedding customer. Hopefully the word will spread, and give them more business.
We bought 100 (4 oz) packages with our name customized on the labels.
Turks & Caicos Customs were ok with it. In fact the customs lady told us that she eloped to New York !
My sister baked 100 giant sanddollar(I bought the sanddollar cookie cutter online.) cookies (taste like pecan sandies). She packaged them
in clear cellophane bags and closed them with
my monogram sticker. (oval sticker with torquoise letters)
I bought 100 little bottles of vanilla rum ( from Pops Wine and Liquor store)
From my computer, I printed out little recipe cards for our special Caicos coffee drink.
(2 parts coffee, 1 part vanilla rum, iced or hot), to go with the sanddollar cookie.
We used white square boxes with turquoise ribbon. We hot glued the ribbon and put shells on top and placed monogramed oval stickers
on the front of the box.
In each Adult box, there was package of coffee, bottle of rum, sanddollar cookie,
recipe card, real caribbean shells ...with
torquoise filler that matched the ribbon on the outside.
In each Kids box, there was a little bag of
chocolates shaped like seashells, a starfish lollipop, a pretty conch shell and a sanddollar cookie.
(Note: Conch shells are special to Turks & Caicos b/c they have the only conch farm in the world)
Now, I think back...wow..lots of work but
fun fun fun...and it doesnt have to be super expensive... and it wasnt exactly perfect
but it doesnt matter now. If someone offers to help, let them ! My sister did so much us .
Overall, Everyone thought it was simple, elegant and tasteful !
Everyone had a good time....including us !
If you have any questions or need help, please FM me !

Re: 2004 Wedding/Reception Review
Turks & Caicos is amazing. I just got back from my honeymoon there. I stayed at Ocean Club West. The construction is almost done, and wasn't intrusive for us. DH and I plan on going back for our anniversary! If anyone is interested,

American Airlines has a direct flight from JFK, only three hours. (I'm not a good flyer, it's one of the reasons why we picked TCI)

They are actually building two new resorts to the left and the right of West. But again, the main parts of the buildings are up. They are just finishing them up. You can hear a bit of construction, but it still beats loud Long Island!!!!
