5/17/08:Timber Point Mansion, Patken, Red Carpet, Bridal Elegance, Tommy Tunes, St. Anthony's
I have not posted on here much but I have read many reviews and have gotten a lot of ideas and recommendations so I figure I would share my experience. I am extremely picky with very expensive taste and know what I want, I just have a very hard time finding it. I did so much research and foot work it's unbelievable. I hope I can save anyone reading this the time that I had to waste running around looking for the best I could find without spending a fortune.I cant seem to figure out how to put images on this page but I posted them in my album so you can check them out there.
Reception-Timber Point- A
Hardly anyone I told where we were having our wedding has ever heard of Timber Point and that’s what we liked about it. When we visited I fell in love with the mansion’s old charm and updated ballroom. We are not into big halls that you’ve been to 10 times for events before that have 3 affairs going on at the same time. Its location and ambiance make you feel like you're far away from everything. They set up tea lights everywhere and had the fireplace going.. it looked awesome. My guest complimented the place throughout the night. Our maitre’d was great and my bridal attendant was superb. Whenever I turned around she would have whatever I needed on hand. She would have my drink handed to me just as I thought I might need another. She fixed anything I thought needed to be adjusted and even put her hand out for me to spit my gum in before the cake cutting…now that’d what I was impressed with.
Overall Timber Point was affordable especially for the attention you are given being the only affair for the night and for the excellent food.
Tommy Tunes-A+
Our MC-Frankie was awesome! He wasn’t obnoxious or cheesy. We’ve seen Frankie before at other weddings and loved his style and the way they keep everyone into the party by playing great music and reading the crowd.
Craft Shoes-, Commack
I went everywhere and Craft Shoes had the biggest selection for wedding shoes and the prices can't be beat. So save yourself the trouble of pricing things out and looking because I did it all. If your dress has goldish hues to it you might be able to find something in a department store but my dress was diamond white so I needed white white shoes.
Classic Transportation
We arranged for vans to pick up guests staying at the Hyatt in Hauppague and take them to and from Timber Point. They were on time, on our way home I could have crawled home quicker but they got people to and from fine.
Hyatt-
I stayed at the Hyatt for 2 days and on the second night (wedding night) th air conditioning blew and it was really humid. We had a brunch the next morning with all the guests that stayed over and their a/c wasn't working either. Other than that the stay was nice and Laura our sales manager was really sweet.
Dante Tuxedo-Westbury A
The guys tuxedos looked good and we had no problems. If you have any groomsmen that do not live in the area Dante has locations all over so they can pick up their tux where they live. They give you plenty of time to pick them up early and drop off a few days later..even later when you have some slacker groomsmen that hold onto them longer.
Bridal Elegance-A
Phyllis and Suzie were absolutely a pleasure to work with. They were so nice that even though they did not have the dresses I chose for myself or the girls I ordered the dresses through them. Phylis will beat or match any price. I cannot say enough good things about Bridal Elegance or the people who work there. They were so patient and helpful and their prices are reasonable.
I know everyone loves their dress and thinks it's the best out there but I was never sappy about it..until the day of. It turned out so gorgeous and looked like I spent 3x as much as I did. It is a truly unique dress that even guys that don't even look at that kind of thing were telling me they never saw a dress a beautiful before.
Photgraphy-Patken-A
Our photographer was Vinnie and he was great. I’m really into photography and wanted someone who would have an artistic eye. I looked at sooo many different photographers work and honestly I wanted Angelica Glass but she was already booked.
Vinnie was quick with getting the boring family shots over with. He has definitely been doing this a while and it shows that he really knows what he is doing.
Patkens price was ok, they don’t budge much. However, unlike other places they give you unlimited time for the day. Most places charge per hour after 5-6 hours. Patken is there from beginning to end wherever you tell them to be.

On time, polite ..perfect
Invitations-Wedding Center-Commack
I went to so many places looking for invitations and the Wedding Center had the largest selection for the best price. For what we paid I think we got the best deal possible. The only thing is we made up for the money we saved by spending it on postage
Audreys Bakery-Lindenhurst
I had heard a lot of nice things about Audreys and they are one of Timer Points house bakeries. We had a different cake for every layer. The cake was included in our price but if you wanted a fondant icing it woud cost you $300 and up. We opted for regualr icing that tastes much better than fondant by the way and it looked great-see pics.
Menus and Programs-DIY-A+
I got the menus and prgrams from Michaels (Anna Griffin) and printed them myself. They came out great.
St. Anthony of Padua –D
Anything that could go wrong did. Our priest had a graduation to attend that day so he canceled on us a few weeks before the wedding. The women who help with the rehearsal were not only rude but were not thorough at all. The day of we had no idea what to do and it made me anxious when I should have been enjoying the moment. The church music was all wrong for the day of. I had called and spoke with the music director who I had met with previously to choose music. When I got home I listened to what he had written down as my choices and I wanted to change it. I contacted him and he said no problem and that if I changed my mind again I could call until the actual wedding day to do so. Well the music from beginning to end was absolutely not what we discussed. It meant a lot to me to have the music I selected and it nothing was right.
Our new priest must have been sick the day of. He was sweating profusely and was off a few times on what he was to say and what we were. The church is beautiful and makes for great pictures..that’s about it.
Favors- Wrap it Up-Syosset
I found wine bottle toppers online at wrapitup.com I wanted to make sure they weren't cheap and luckily the warehouse is located on Long Island. I went to them to check out the item and they were good, so I purchased them there and also saved on shipping. I did however put on my own bows on each box because the ones they came with were crushed and did not match my color theme.
