6/11/08 Honeymoon Review - Royal Hideaway, Mexico
Soo I finally starting uploading the some of the huge number of pics I have from everywhere.& I know some people were thinking about going to the Royal Hideaway in Mexico (Mexican Riveria)
We got back from our honeymoon 2 weeks ago & would turn around & go right back if we could. It was marvelous.
lobby
Beach
Let me warn you though that the beach in the area are small. When I say small I mean that the sand area is sparse. They had to attempt to rebuild after the hurricanes & the use sand bags & etc, But it is a hard battle for them to fight. so while the water is gorgeous, do not expect the beach sand area to be huge. But on the plus side the beaches are public in the playa de carmen area so if you are really craving more sand just walk the beach to you find a spot you like more.
That lovely water
The food was delicious & we ate like dessert with everything. BOy will we pay for that. But seriously they will offer you things before you realize you want one.. Dessert senora.. why yes. Drink senora.. yes. you get my drift
The resort is beautiful, at first you may not think it is that big but when you walk around you realize it is & that things are just laid out pretty nicely. You do not have to walk too far to get to anything

The only downside is that the travel review are true, the hotel next door is loud. Didn't bother us in the room any (I didn't notice a thing where we were) but you will hear them if you walk toward that side of the resort some nights. It isn't overwhelming but if you are sensitive to that sort of thing be forewarned. BUt I suspect that is something that you got to deal with up & down the strip. RH is soo mellow & cool while other places may be more 'party' than relxing
Each building has it own concierge & only three flights to each one
My own corona commercial. (they have some sunning beds overlooking the water, while they are hard to catch free, they are sooo worth trying... pure heaven)

Don't be afraid if you see this little guy...
He is my friend
It is an animal called Agouti & they are kid of like a cross between a squirrel & a rabbit. they are shy
I don't think this guy is as friendly
You can do dinner on the piece as an add on package (we didn't do that we did the spa)
as an excurions you can go to Chitzen Itza
Me.. hot there. Wear lots of sunscreen & bring a hat & water. It is a long trip to get there & once there lots of walking in brutal sun. Though the feeling & the images you get there are priceless
Front park of hotel
back of main building
The end

Re: 6/11/08 Royal Hideaway Review
You will love it.Advice:
bring high sunscreen though. It is no joke. if you can get a nice broad rim hat if you are gonig for any walking excurions, & wetshoes if you are going waveriding or something water based.
There are plenty of excursions to do.
we went wave riding like 2 times (hubby went twice without me I was too burnt).
We went to swim with the dolphins, which was awesome
You can do a day trip to Cozumel
You can go to the ruins in Tulum ( which are by the water & closer than Chitzen Itza), you can can go to the ecological park Xcaret. & much more.
The only thing is they are not cheap (the trips) but they are worth it.
