6/28/09 wedding at De Seversky Center

Venue- De Seversky Center, NYIT Campus- A+++
We are absolutely, one hundred percent thrilled with the way everything was done on our wedding day! Every member of the staff was wonderful! They were especially accommodating and helpful not only on that day but throughout the whole planning process.
I know that the facility, the service and most of all the food, really blew our guests away! Everyone kept saying how they have never experienced anything like it- the wedding was so much more special and the food was more delicious then any other wedding they have ever been too! (Even our rich, snooty guests were impressed!)

Cake- Leonetti’s- A+
Pretty and delicious

Gown- Priscilla of Boston- A
They were all very nice and helpful. The seamstress did an amazing job with all of the alterations and the bustle. There was a mistake with the ordering of the bridesmaids’ dresses, but they handled it well.

Officiant- Rabbi Alan Stein & Father John McCormick- A+
They did a wonderful job in creating an interfaith wedding which we were both comfortable with. It would appear that they have known us our whole lives!

Flowers- Flower Michele- A+++++ Rich Baker!
There are not enough amazing words about this florist! They absolutely went above and beyond what we ever could have expected for the amazing price we paid! Rich really went out of his way to execute my vision just the way I wanted it. And I was rather picky. I did not want even one rose to be a part of my wedding. I wanted all exotic flowers and a lot of them! He did more then I ever could have imagined. He really understood what I wanted. The chuppah was a huge focal point at the wedding. People could not stop talking about how beautiful it was- and Flower Michele constructed it completely by hand! There were even little details (and BIG details) which we never discussed that he threw in (like amazing orchids all over all the mantelpieces and small tables. We even discussed a small little arrangement at the bottom of the staircase and I was floored to see what he created- the biggest, most amazing arrangement I have ever seen! That’s just the way they do things at Flower Michele- they will go above and beyond, just because they want to. Because they really love what they do- and care.

Ceremony Musicians- New Bards Music- A++
I really wanted a string quartet for the ceremony but there wasn’t much money left in our budget. I was so lucky to have found Gabriel and New Bards Music! They were so affordable that we were also able to get a piano player for the cocktail hour. These musicians are very professional and talented!

DJ- High Voltage Sounds- C-
The only thing at my wedding we were disappointed with. Vinny was very nice and easy to deal with leading up to that day, but he just had no energy at the wedding. He barely used the mic at all and there were long periods where he and his staff weren’t even in the room. We paid a few hundred extra to have a slideshow shown, and he brought FOUR extra guys to help him with it (who we paid to feed each) and it did not go smoothly. This little slideshow was very important to us and in the middle it just stopped working. When my husband went up to Vinny to see what the problem was (which was awkward in front of all the guests) he shook his head and just pointed to one of the other guys. THAT guy tried to say that there were no more slides left, but we knew there were many more (we had worked on it for months and played it hundreds of times). They couldn’t figure out how to fix it and my husband had to keep pushing them to try again. Finally they got it working, and later on Vinny tried to blame the problem on a PC-Mac compatibility issue. My husband said, “Even if that were the case, you should have known beforehand. You should have run through the slideshow at least once before today,” and he had no answer and deflected the issue. (When you pay extra for something, shouldn’t they make sure that it will work beforehand?) A large portion of the wedding he just let a playlist play while he messed around with those guys. But after we complained a lot, and the wedding planner had a long talk with him, he got his act together and got the party moving. Another thing was that he would give introductions while people were still talking so no one had any idea what was going on when a speech was given.

Photographer- Nadine Anderson- A+
Wonderful, special and talented photographer! I wanted something different and artistic, but still needed some portraits to make my family happy. She knew just how to handle all of this. And she was a lot of fun!

Videographer- Love in Progress- A+
Same idea, wanted something different and artistic and she was it! Her work is very special and she is very nice and low key. She was fun to have around that day.

Invitations- foldinvites.com- A+
Beautiful work and affordable! Wanted letterpress invites, didn’t know if I could afford them, but I found fold invites and they were great! I got to create the design along with the designer and tweak it as many times as I wanted until it was just right!

Limo- Sir Oliver Limos- A+
Great service, affordable prices.

Hotel- Garden City Hotel- B+
Beautiful hotel, great service, just not sure it was quite worth THAT much $. (ex: two burgers and a cup of soup for room service cost $60!)

Wedding coordinator- Rosalie at Expressions Weddings & Events Design (www.expressions4u.net)

My husband captured it perfectly when he said to Rosalie that day, “I feel like you’re spoiling us!” This is money well spent! From the first moment that our wedding day began, Rosalie was a calming and reassuring presence. Whatever we needed or wanted, even if we didn’t ask for it, she was there providing it! She made sure the entire day ran smoothly and really kept track of all of the vendors so we didn’t have to. She even came to a meeting with the venue to help plan and answer questions and her advice was invaluable. We hired Rosalie after I had an “I can’t handle all of this” moment a few months before the wedding. From that day on, she took away all of our worries and made room for more excitement! She was even happy to drive my wedding party from the salon to the venue, after a ride fell through! There is no other coordinator but Rosalie at Expressions!!!!

Honeymoon- Sandals, St. Lucia
Amazing value for a great price! Great food and service.
