A Summer Wedding TERRACE ON PARK & ST. PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL, CAMELOT LIMOS, AllDolledupMakeup & OTHER VENDORS

We got married on the first day of summer. Our Ceremony was at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and our reception was at Terrace on the Park. In-between the ceremony and reception we stopped for pictures by Astoria Park and the L.I.C. Piers. I was unable to update this review with my Pro Pics b/c of the size limit. Please feel free to check out my albums. Let the review begin:

Save the Dates A+
By: http://www.agiftfulheart.com/

Flowerama : C

This is where I bought my Jasmine Bridal gown which I love (first gown A+). The section of the gown sales closed down so it has nothing to do with the actual florists. Well, I had to postpone the wedding because I was starting Law School, so I gained the weight. When I went to pick up my gown I could not even close the zipper. A month before the wedding, once I lost the weight (not that it took long; I just left it till last minute) I discovered that the gown's hem was order to my size 5'1 instead of the instructed 5'4. So I had to buy 1-inch heels, but at least the dress fit, only problem was that I wanted to poof the dress and the hoop skirt showed my feet often A few months before my wedding I had bought a second gown in the event that my first one did not fit. So my first gown zippered up and not to let the other dress go to waste I changed during the reception. To be honest it was more because I did not to end up saying 'maybe I should have wore this one.'

This was my first gown which I made into a ballgown (gown originally an A line)

This dress was bought from my florist's boutique A+

Here is my second gown (don't know the designer's name, I just tried it on and loved it)

Weather: A+

OMG few days before the wedding we had thunderstorms and June 21st was predicted to have had pm thunderstorms. Thank god the day was bright and sunny and the heat was perfect! It sure was the perfect day of summer.

M.A.C. Makeup Aritst-Ciara Sandoval: A+

I loved it! The makeup blended in with the colors I chose for the bridesmaid dresses. My makeup lasted all day & night; from noon till midnight! She made sure that I had a matching lipstick to do touch-ups, but with all the running around I forgot to do so, and yet I managed to look amazing. She also did an amazing job on my girls and my mom's makeup. I can say in all honesty she was one of my favorite vendors!

These are a few pics of my trial

St. Patrick Cathedral: A

I would want to give it an A+ because no matter what it is St. Patrick's Cathedral and everything went perfectly well, but the only thing that I did not like was that they had scaffolds both inside and outside the church, but that did not take away from our magical day. There were so many tourists inside watching our ceremony and as we walked out they were clapping and cheering for us!

Camelot Limos: A+

I booked with Joe and what can I say he is very professional. I had two Hummers and a Royce Rolls. We stood with only one Hummer and the Royce after the Ceremony. Both Stevie and Huss were great!!! Stevie got everyone clapping and cheering as he escorted me inside the church, they made sure we got everywhere on time. Huss was so hospitable. The cars were nice as all other places but what make this company great were their services. Even though it was a hectic day, they brought down my nerves big time.

Florist-Jose Manuel: A+
25-09 Astoria Blvd.

I visited him at several occasions to see his work, and I just kept going back because I loved to see his creations. He did a wonderful job with all the flowers. In addition, he sold to me the second gown I wore. He made sure that my mom's gowns were altered to make her look great. He is highly professional and he has the best prices! The only thing is that he does not have pictures of his work but he was recommended by another reception I had planned on booking. The good thing is that you are able to go see his work. He drew a design of the types of flowers I wanted and it is what I got.

Terrace on the Park A

This was not my first choice. We had previously book a different reception (not allow to say due to contract negotiations to get our deposit back in time for the wedding). Three months before our wedding I went to Reception #1 to get direction cards for those who were not familiar with the location....and to my surprise they change the decor, taking completely away what it was that we fell in love with. So as you can imagine I was devastated and angery I called other locations and the only place available was TOP or Astoria World Manner. So I decided to go with TOP. The reception was beautiful and the service was great. My guest have told me the food and dessert were great, but I was unable to taste it as my food went cold because we were going around to say hello to our guests. The MD was great and really attentive. The only problem was that the night before the wedding the BM charged us for our plates, which I found really ridiculous as they are making lots of money already. I had booked Leonard’s my previous year and was not being charged and Reception #1 did not charge us, even though they really screwed us. I was just really disappointed that I only had to locations to choose from If I had more time I would have chosen another location. Ladies, do not get me wrong TOP is beautiful but I would have wanted more options, and options are what all brides should have.

Pinilla Studios: C

I had hired the studio which of course sent one of their photographers to do the job. Well, he was nice except that he didn't like to work with other photographer or videographers
Well my MH put him in his place and told him that he should act professional and not be a baby (I am just shortening what she said to him). We got our proofs and they are so plain. He took many crooked pictures. I feel that anyone with a good camera could take the same shots. You can go to my album to see the pictures. (Ask to see proofs of your photographer no just the albums they have for show). I was very disappointed.

Guy Chan Photography A++
http://400d.com/

I love this guy! I found Guy Chan about 2 months before the wedding. We hired him only for an engagement shoot (see e-album) and just fell in love with his work that we hired him for our wedding (see wedding album). He is marvelous! I am so grateful to have found him. Pictures are one of the most important things that a should have. Guy captures the most magical moments and does those effects with his lens. Guy even carries his equipment to create lighting when needed. I am so sad that he was our backup photographer, yet Guy managed to take great shots. Too bad I did not find him earlier as he would have been my main and only photographer. I only uploaded 10 images as those are the ones he put up on his website. I will be getting my pictures real soon and will upload more :content

Here is some of our e-pics (fairytale theme in the City)

Chevy Music Force : B

Alberto was both our DJ & MC. He had back surgery so he could not have been more active than he was. He was funny and had our guests laughing, plus he made John do a strip tease dance to get the garter BUT the music was not what we had discussed or what he ran through at his home Everyone seemed to say they had fun at the wedding, but I believe everyone would have had more fun if he had followed our agreement.

De'Re Formal Wear: B/C??
Some groomsmen suits had stains, some buttons were missing. I blame my DH for not having checked the suits when he picked the suits up. The sellers are very nice to talk too, but I just feel there should be no mistakes when you give someone a suit to wear on special occassions.

BM's Dress A+
www.houseofbrides.com

They were very economical more than any store or other website! The dresses arrived witin 3-4 weeks from when the order was placed. The designer is Jordan and the color is lipstick pink...I think my girls looked amazing!

Pinilla Hair Salon: A+
79th Street & Northern Blvd. Jackson Heights Queens

My hair dresser's name is Jorge. I never did a pre-trial or anything. I just took him a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like and he nailed it. I was a very happy

Wedding Album Pinilla Studio B
Despite being unhappy with my proofs I am pleased with our wedding album. Of course I used like 30 shots from Guy Chan and 50 from Pinilla Studio to make the album

Re: St. Patrick Cathedral & Terrace on the Park Review June 21st 2008

Congratulations on your marriage!
I can't wait to see your photos! Are they on a website somewhere (like photobucket)? If so, you can right click on a photo and choose 'Properties'. When the Properties box appears, you can highlight the web address, right click and click 'Copy'. When you edit your LIW post, click 'Insert Web Image' on the lefthand side and paste the link that you copied. This normally works for me. I hope that wasn't too confusing but FM if you have trouble!
