Amazing Wedding! Land's End, Renegade, Jen, Oksana, Lovin Oven Florals, Camelot, Etc.

Our wedding was just amazing! I used tons of LIWedding vendors, so hope this helps everyone!
Demetrios: My dress, veil and tiara – B-
First off, I absolutely loved my dress and accessories! The store did well, they got the order right and everything came in early. The reason they didn’t get a higher score is because I used one Demetrios out in New Mexico where I was living when I bought the dress and the one in Manhasset for alterations. The store in New Mexico told me there was a $250 cap on alterations and the one on New York said that wasn’t true for all stores and didn’t honor it. The alterations came out great, but they were pretty expensive ($150 for a bustle). They also sold me a slip when ended up being not at all the right one to go with my dress and it was a big hassle to get them to exchange rather than charge me for both. However, as I said, everything was done in plenty of time and the dress was so beautiful.
Sandy’s Shoes – My shoes – B
I got my shoes here. The service was just okay, the people could be friendlier and the prices were about average, maybe a little high. They did help me find a pretty, comfortable pair of shoes which I was very happy with on my wedding day.
Sal’s Tuxedos – A
According to my husband everything went smoothly and he was very happy with the tuxedos as were the groomsmen. Everything looked great.
Wrap With Us – Favors – A
We did not have a lot to spend on favors and we managed to find cute little candles here for our favors. While in the store we also found a guest book and program paper to use which we were happy with. Everything was ready very quickly. We also ordered our bubbles here and when we received them they looked terrible (they were supposed to be a bride and groom on top but it just looked like a big mess). They immediately switched it for a different design when asked.
Lovin Oven Florals – A
Keyth was so great. I was living across the country and he took phone calls and emailed me pictures to make my life easier. I also wanted something kind of different for a centerpiece and he really made it turn out well. The bouquets were perfect and he made flowers with jewels for the bridesmaid to wear in their hair which looked great. There were a couple of things that didn’t look quite as I expected them to look, but for the most part everything was great. Keyth also personally delivered the bouquets at 8am on Saturday morning which was so nice of him to do.
Jeffrey Studios – A+
Alan really was wonderful. We left basically no time between the wedding and the cocktail hour and put him in a very difficult time crunch. Somehow he managed to be directive and efficient without being rude. The pictures came out beautiful and there are tons of them despite having almost no time to shoot. We had let him know that one of the members of the bridal party had a disability and might be difficult to deal with and he was very sweet with her. His price was very reasonable. Also, our proofs were available online the next day! I highly recommend Alan and Jeffrey Studios.
Helen’s Private Collection Bridal Center – B
The bridesmaids purchased their dresses here. The service here was wonderful, the dresses we bought were available at many stores but we felt so comfortable here that we decided to buy. The store offered us a small discount on the dresses since there were 6 girls buying them. The dresses came in plenty of time and they looked great. However, a few of the girls said that their dresses came in way way too big and they spent a lot on alterations. One of the girls said that after the alterations the dress still did not fit and when they offered to fix it while she waited she ended up with pulls in the fabric. She got some of her money back but only after arguing for a while.
Envelopments – B
We got our invitations through Envelopments. (I am not bothering to write up the store we purchased them at because it is located out of state). The invitations were absolutely gorgeous! They are one of my favorite things from the wedding and everyone raved about how nice they were. Unfortunately, the company sent the wrong papers twice which delayed the invites so that’s the reason they did not get an A.
The White Whale – Rehearsal Dinner: B
Overall they did a very nice job. We decided we wanted something casual so we reserved a room here which was on the water and set everything up buffet style. The food was good. We did unlimited beer, wine and soda and we did have to ask them to bring out more for everyone from time to time. The service was good and everyone had a great time.
The Hyatt (Happauge) – Wedding Night accommodations – A-
We stayed here on our wedding night along with many of our guests. The service in booking the rooms was good and the hotel itself is really beautiful. Our guests had a great time that night using the two pools. The hotel sent us up free champagne and chocolate covered strawberries which was a nice touch.
Camelot Limos – A+
Camelot was absolutely perfect! We booked a 14 passenger limo to the church and then added a rolls Royce for my husband and I to the reception. We also booked a limo to drop my parents home and us at the hotel and we used Camelot for our ride to the airport in the morning. Every single ride was perfect. Our first limo driver was especially great, he was so helpful in assisting me at the church. It was also a nice surprise when Camelot sent a limo to take us to the airport in the morning when we were only expecting a town car. All our dealings with Camelot were great and the service was amazing. Highly recommended!
Jen the Hair Genie – A+!
I cannot say enough good things about Jen. She is so talented and professional. She started doing hair at my house at 5am. She did hair for 5 bridesmaids, my mother and me and was finished on time. Everyone was so happy with their hair and after two trials she really nailed what I wanted on the wedding day. She added flowers to the girls hair and she even touched up the last bridesmaid for free. She went above and beyond what was expected, she stayed after the hair was done to help get my dress on and helped with various things throughout the morning. Highly recommended!
Oksana – A+
Oksana did make up for my mom, myself and my MOH. She is so incredibly talented! My MOH hates make up and she was thrilled with hers. On my first trial I had told Oksana not to do anything too crazy and on the wedding day I decided I wanted her to do something more dramatic. It came out better than I could have imagined. I am so glad I booked Oksana.
St. Joseph’s – C
Our experience prior to the wedding was great, but our priest is a relative of my husband so I don’t know how others experiences might be. The church itself is beautiful. However, on the wedding day my real complaint was with the music. Just a personal thing but I really did not want the typical here comes the bride song played for my walk down the aisle and I handed in my music choices on time saying what I wanted. I don’t know what happened but the music person played all the wrong stuff! Out of 5 songs she only got one right so that was upsetting. This church also has a lot of rules (ex: the flower girls could not drop petals, no aisle runner, we could not light our candelabras, no rice throwing, etc).
Renegade – A++++!!!
They are so incredible I cannot even explain it! I don’t know how many people came up to me to comment on the band. They had the dance floor packed the whole night through. In my opinion (and that of many of the guests) they sound as good if not better than the original artist. All of the special dances were perfect and they were so classy in all their interactions and announcements. They are absolutely the best vendor we booked, if everything else had gone wrong it still would have been an incredible wedding so long as Renegade was there.
Land’s End – A+++!
Land’s End surpassed our expectations! After booking with them I came up with a lot of questions and the service was wonderful. I got concerned about little things like the bartender putting out tip jars and the frequency the nicer passed appetizers would be passed and they told me, “Our goal here is that every guest leaves saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to” so not to worry. They were exactly right! Everything was done with so much class and elegance. Tons of people commented on the service and how well they were waited on. My mother and father-in-law were amazed that every time they got up someone re-folded their napkin! People raved about the food. My husband and I were like king and queen for the day! Everything was set up exactly how we wanted and the hall looked incredible. The gardens and beach were perfect and the ballroom was beautiful. Our maitre’d surpassed all expectations and the bridal attendant was wonderful. We do not have a complaint in the world with Land’s End and were so glad we chose them, they really made our day beautiful.
Honeymoon:
Tom Varghese – American Express – Travel Agent – A+
Tom was so helpful. He was friendly and so quick getting back to us with prices and details. He even got us an upgrade when a sale started shortly after we booked our trip! Tom originally helped us plan a completely different trip for our honeymoon and when we changed our minds and went with Jamaica he was understanding and helpful.
Couples Swept Away – A
We spent one week here and it was wonderful. We could not have been more stress free. There is absolutely nothing to worry about here! The beach was the most beautiful I had ever seen! The food was also surprisingly good for an all-inclusive and the drinks were incredible. Our room was so beautiful! We stayed in a beachfront suite and it was so romantic. We had a huge verandah where we would nap if it rained, which was only a couple of times for an hour or so the entire trip. The service was great, we met some really nice people there. All in all this was a very romantic trip.
Summer Bay Resort Orlando – B
We reserved our own house on the grounds of the resort through a timeshare program and it was incredible! We invited our families for this week of the honeymoon and since it had three bedrooms and a pull out couch it slept everyone comfortably. The house even had its own pool and our master bedroom had a huge hot tub! The only reason I didn’t rate it higher was because of the annoying phone calls about attending a timeshare presentation that occurred a little too frequently. We were very happy with the resort overall.
All in all we had an absolutely wonderful wedding and we were very happy with our vendors. A few pieces of advice – first, make sure you have enough time between the ceremony and the reception. We left almost no time and I had to miss the whole cocktail hour and spend most of the reception greeting the guests so looking back now I would have made better arrangements in this area. Also, I know everyone says it but the wedding really does fly by. So my advice here is, stay side by side with your husband the entire wedding. We did this and we were so glad we did. It goes by so fast you will be glad for every second you spend together that day. Hope this is helpful for everyone!
