July 17, 2010 Leonards, Utimate Sounds, Old Westbury Garden, Kleinfelds etc.
Hello Gals!!First let me start off by staying that I feel horrible that I have yet to post a detailed wedding review. This board was sooooo wonderful in helping me plan for my July 17, 2010 wedding and all of the women here are great. I have been super busy working and doing my wife thing…lol.
I have posted a link to my wedding website, feel free to look at the pictures: http://www.oranandkerry.com/indx.cfm
Go to the photo album and the wedding pics are below the BS pics.
I tried to include a few teasers but they are too big...how do you ladies include such great pic with these posts?!?!???
My vendors are listed below, please don’t hesitate to FM me if you have any questions or want information on something:
Ceremony: The Congregational Church of Manhasset Located in Manhasset, NY
• They were a bit pricey, but the location is top notch and the members of the church were kind and helpful. Hubby and I still attend service here from time to time.
• Grade: A
Photographer: Andrew Siceloff located in Brooklyn, NY
• I was originally booked with Twelfth Night Photography but at the last minute the photographer that I chose had to have knee surgery. I really like his particular style and wasn’t comfortable with anyone else. Twelfth Night respected my feelings and allowed me to bow out of our contract. I found Andrew through a friend and he was GREAT.
• Grade: A
Picture Site: Old Westbury Garden
• I loved the décor at OWG! Kim (wedding contact) is a bit high strung, but was helpful and seems passionate about her job. We were running late that day and had to rush through the pictures, but I think they turned out well. The tour guides were patient and allowed us the snap pics down to the last second.
• Grade: A
Limo: Trans-Star Executive located in Deer Park, NY
• They had a great deal and we saved a lot of money. The driver was not familiar with Old Westbury Garden and went to the wrong entrance, this of course cost us a couple extra minutes on top of the fact that we were late; but for the great price I didn’t mind too much
• Grade: B+
Day of Coordinator: Erganic Design
• Sojourner was very helpful and I paid extra for her to do my centerpieces. I had a simple Orchid and Hydrangeas submerged in tall vases. I purchased the flowers from the Flower District in the City and had meetings with Sojourner about how I wanted everything to look. There were a lot of details to this, so if you need more info FM me. While she worked on the floral arrangements another girl from Erganic Design stayed with me throughout the day and helped me and the BP to get dressed etc. Sojourner is a caring and great girl, and her company is off to a great start. There were some kinks along the way but nothing major; she also gave a great LI Wedding discount.

DJ Ultimate Sounds
• What can I say about Frankie, he was so easy to talk to and get along with. We met with him a few time before the big day to work out our song list. My husband and I are both Jamaican, so we wanted and nice mix of songs that our family could relate to and have a good time. Frankie did not disappoint.
• Grade: A
Reception: Leonard’s of Great Neck
• We got a good deal from Leonard’s and looked around for a while before deciding to book with them. At the time, DH and I were thinking about having the wedding in Jamaica. We flew to Jamaica in 2009 (after the engagement) and looked for a place, but all the hotels I wanted were waaaay to expensive. I like the area that Leonard’s was located in and the “crub appeal” so after coming back from JA we decided to have the wedding in New York and booked Leonard’s.
• I had no real issues with them. The bridal attendants are young and one of them had some issue with my DJ as well as Day of Coordinator eating at the wedding. Instead of dealing with it with the Day-Of I was approached by a very young looking girl who pulled out my contract and told me that two of my vendors were eating dinner, and that it was not in the contract. She then said “Well about 5 guests didn’t show, so we’re gonna let it go.” In the grand scheme of things, it was no biggie, but I was kinda annoyed, if she was going to let it go, then why come up the me in the middle of dinner and say something? Overall, the deal at Leonard’s was great and I wasn’t expecting stellar service. The grounds are nice and everyone was pleased with the food.
• Grade: B
Initiations: Scroll Wedding Invitations.com
• I sent out scroll invites that I designed myself and had printed in India. I just loved the idea and wanted something different. Everyone LOVED them and thought that they were elegant. Sorry I don’t have a picture up. The guys in India were very kind and worked with me on all the minor changed that I wanted made.
• Grade: A +
Dress and Tiara: Kleinfelds
• Heck, its Kleinfelds!! Service was amazing…period! I had Debbie and she was great. She was going to be off on the day I wanted to come back and purchase, so gave me Randy’s cell phone number and told me to call him when I was ready to come in for the dress. I called (and Randy actually answered) and we decided to reschedule for another day when Debbie would be at work. There was some mix-up with the time I was supposed to be there (as I had already informed the job that I had to leave early that day). I called Randy (at around 10 AM) on the day and realized that although I had planned to be there at 12 noon, they didn’t open until 1 PM. Randy called Debbie and asked her to leave home (in Brooklyn) and arrived at the store early to make sure I was accommodated. I felt like a million bucks!!
• Grade: A++++
Hotel: Inn at Great Neck
• My BP and close family members stayed at the Inn. They were kind and had great service. No complaints.
• Grade: A
Rehearsal Dinner: Banyan Asian Fusion
• We had a good time here. I had a huge rehearsal dinner (about 35-40% of the wedding guests attended). The owner was accommodating and even allowed the children to eat for free.
• Grade: A
Jewelry: Tejani
• I purchased my earring from Tejani. The girls here were great and had quick deliver to Brooklyn. I wasn’t happy with the first set I purchased online after seeing them in person and decided to go into the show room to return and purchase something else. They show room is simple, modern and very NYC. No complaints.
• Grade: A
Hair and Make-up: Nubest Salon and Spa, Manhasset, NY
• I liked the girls here! I also had my hair done for my bridal shower at Nubest. Everyone was nice and the make-up girl did a great job. I told her that I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis and wanted to go easy on it. She used tinted moisturizer instead of foundation and I LOVED it. I felt glamorous, but still able to recognizer myself in the mirror. I have long eyelashes, so we even decided to skip that and she used mascara instead. We chit-chatted about shows that she has done for Fashion Week etc. I even saw a article on Bethenny Frankle getting done-up for an event and recognized one of the Nubest stylists!! I forget the names, but my hair guy was also very attentive and great, he has also been involved in styling for Fashion Week etc… Nubest has everything in one place, so I was even able to get waxed before leaving. It was a 7 minute drive back to the Inn at Great Neck, so I didn’t feel rushed. I even went down after my hair (and before my makeup) appointment and had a sandwich at the café.
• Grade: A
I hope I didn’t forget anything major. Thanks for reading, and FM me if you have any questions.
