Married June 11 '06 The Woodlands - Quick Review

Just married June 11, 2006. Here is a brief review of our wedding with non-professional photos. I will repost later on when I get prof. pics.

CEREMONY & RECEPTION HALL @ THE WOODLANDS 10+

With the weather being absolutely spectacular we had the opportunity to take full advantage of The Woodland's magnificent grounds. The Ceremony took place Sunday afternoon overlooking the majestic golf course. We took so many pictures early in the morning outside.

During the recessional, guests were guided to the cocktail library and outdoor patio. On their way guests selected a choice of chocolate, apple, or raspberry martinis each with an orchard floating in it.

During this time I was hustled to the bridal suite to be bustled by the bridal attendant Nicole who is an amazing asset to anyone's wedding.

The Woodlands went above and beyond my expectations. During our food tastings I was not 100% satisfied with the selection that we had. After reading how fantastic the food was by other postings on LIW, we decided to order what Maureen at The Woodlands recommended. The food was phenomenal, and I am not just saying this because it was our wedding. I love food and I am a tough critic, but this was truly the best food I ever had. During cocktail hours some highlights were the sumptuous lamb, along with a variety of passed hor devours including the salmon on potato pancakes, tuna tartar on wonton crisps, and more.

We decided to go a little unique and have the Lobster Tempura Roll for an appetizer, Salad with Pear and Cashews, and a choice between Chilean Sea Bass, Duck or Filet Mignon. Each choice was delicious. The timing of serving each dish was ideal (enough time to sit and relax, mixed in with dancing). Maureen was very accommodating for our guests with special food requirements (vegans, vegetarians, kosher diets, and seafood allergies were all professionally accounted for). Maureen accommodated us on specific drink selections (e.g. Grey Goose Vanilla, Bass Ale, etc.)

We had 116 people and the layout of the room was perfectly set to accommodate our size party. A wall section was closed off with a curtain in front so that the room looked seamless. One of the benefits of a Sunday afternoon wedding is that a bunch of our friends stayed several hours after the wedding on a patio near a bar overlooking the beautiful golf course.

SPITZ & PECK 10+
Ritchie, the owner of S&P is a true artist. I described a concept that I was interested in over the phone with an assistant and when I came to see my sample it was exactly what I imagined. The look I was interested in was Victorian, Gatsby, Garden Party, Elegance and Ritchie was able to achieve that. I wanted to be a little different and used exotic flowers and orchards in everything. A few extras included in the price.

THE WEDDING SALON, MANHASSET 10
I had the wedding gown of my dreams. A Kenneth Pool silk gown with an embroidered train. The staff at The Wedding Salon is so nice, efficient, professional, and timely. I highly recommend going there. Although their prices are on the higher end you can find some sample sale bargains, and their alterations are very reasonable compared to less expensive places.

I am so excited to see 2 Woodlands Reviews on the first page of the Brides Review Board. I'm so glad that there are so many more Woodlands Brides on the Board than there were a year ago!
