MirabellaNYC's 10.3.09 Glamorous Wedding-Kornfeld, Vera Wang, NRC, Stefan's, & lots of amazing vendors!
Our wedding was by far the best day of our life. It was everything we’d ever dreamed of. My advice to future brides to be is to remember that a wedding is a day-the first day of the rest of your life. Things happen, don’t sweat the small details. Stay within your budget (or close to it), and make sure you prioritize which details are important to you and which aren’t.I’d like to thank LIW for being such a valuable resource throughout the entire wedding process. This site gave me an outlet to exchange ideas, rants and raves, and then some. And I’ve met some amazing girls that I truly consider friends.
I hope my review is as helpful to you as others were for me.
Jeweler: Pesselnik & Cohen, 82 Bowery, NYC
A++++
They seriously made the engagement ring of my dreams! I was floored at how beautiful it was. Every detail is just perfect. I had given DH a picture of Katherine Heigl’s ring as a reference, and the jewelers made it even more beautiful than hers! We also got our wedding bands from there, the quality is amazing and they are wonderful to deal with. They are a very trustworthy jeweler in the downtown diamond district in NYC.

Engagement Party: The Inn at New Hyde Park
A++++
We booked the Inn on a recommendation from a family friend. The party was outstanding and we are still hearing raves about it. DH’s entire family is from Italy, and they raved about the food for months afterward.

Bridal Shower: The Inn at New Hyde Park
A++++++
Clearly this place was a home run for our family, so my mom and sister decided to hold my bridal shower there as well. I’m so glad they did because I could finally eat the food! I was totally surprised, I had no idea that I was going to a bridal shower, I thought we were going to a birthday party. Girls, if you can be surprised, go for it. It truly was such an awesome day that I had no idea was going to happen.
Bachelorette Party: The Borgata, Atlantic City
A++++++
My bachelorette party was a blast! We had a small group of 7 of us total that went to Atlantic City for a long weekend. I highly recommend keeping your bachelorette party small, it truly allowed me to get some serious bonding time in with my best friends in the world.
Invitations, Calligraphy, Donation Cards, Escort Cards: Invitations and Beyond
A+++++++++++++++
I found this vendor through LIW, and they were absolutely amazing! For some reason, finding the right invitations was one of the most difficult things to find. They were so wonderful to work with, not to mention patient. I knew early on that I wanted letterpress invitations-the ones we ended up with (by Dauphine Press) were in Martha Stewart Weddings the summer we got engaged. Since we spent a lot of money on invitations, we opted to not print custom menus or church programs (and trust me, nobody missed those at all!). Jared did all of the lazer calligraphy on our envelopes, escort cards, and donation cards. He even matched the font to our invites. This vendor was fantastic, we can’t say enough great things about them.

Favors:
We opted to do a donation in lieu of traditional favors. My mom is a breast cancer survivor, in remission for 10 years thankfully. We wanted to give back. The doctor that saved my mom’s life has a foundation called The Maurer Foundation that educates women on breast cancer prevention. It was a wonderful way for us to thank Dr Maurer for all that she did for my mom.
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
A-
I’m more of a “form over function” kinda gal. My shoes were gorgeous, but by the end of the night my feet were throbbing. I guess that happens when you’re in heels for 12 hours. I’m so glad I wore silver shoes, because I will totally wear them again and again.

DOJ: Haute Bride
A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This was AS exciting as my wedding dress. I found Haute Bride (in San Francisco) on The Knot, and in various magazines. I knew there was something special about them. They do anything custom. If you email them they work with you via email. I got SO lucky and ended up working with the designer/owner Lindsie. We had such an awesome collaboration, she said the statement bracelet she made for me was one of her favorite pieces she ever made. She also did earrings inspired by my engagement ring, barettes, and 2 bangles. I ended up using 1 of the barettes on my bouquet, and gave the other to my best friend to wear as MOH. I should mention now that my wedding dress was blush pink, so finding accessories to complement it took a bit more effort than usual. Haute Bride was such an awesome experience, if they ever opened up a boutique in NYC, I would be there all the time. I’ll continue to buy their pieces because the quality and attention to detail is unbelievable.

Headpiece: Erin Cole from Kleinfeld
A
I didn’t do a hair trial until a week before my wedding, because I knew I’d change my mind a million times. I had always planned on wearing my hair down, but as the date approached I started to panic about the weather and whether my hair would hold up. 5 days before my wedding I went running into Kleinfeld and bought the headpiece. Thank god they were having a clearance sale because I got my piece for $200 versus the original selling price of $600.

Clutch: Lauren Merkin
A+++
I love Lauren Merkin’s bags but refused to pay full price. I hit the jackpot on ebay and found this bag for like $75 versus full retail price of $250. The color was absolutely perfect with my dress, and again, it’s an accessory I can use over and over again.

Dress and Veil: Vera Wang, Wedding Salon of Manhasset
A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I can’t say enough great things about Wedding Salon. They truly made this entire wedding experience so special. Rosemary was my consultant and was so patient and amazing. I went to her for 3 or 4 different appointments. My last appointment, it was just her and I picking out my dress. I didn’t want any outside opinions or emotions. Rosemary and I found a dress that was 100% me. When I tried it on, it was purple!! LOL. Vera showed a purple wedding dress, and that was mine! I ordered it in blush pink. I felt like the white and ivory wouldn’t work on my skin tone, and since I was such a pink girl myself, I took a chance. It was definitely nerve wracking waiting for my dress to come in, being that it wasn’t in a traditional color. My first fitting the moment I saw my dress I fell in love. That was the only time I cried out of happiness over my dress. Kasey did my alterations and they were perfect! She has an amazing eye for detail and was so great to work with. The day of my dress fit like a glove, and the bustle stayed put as we danced throughout the night.

Bridemaid andMOH Dresses: Vera Wang, Wedding Salon of Manhasset
A++++++
Again, Wedding Salon was amazing to work with, and my girls were grateful that they could do alterations on their own since nobody lived near the shop. I chose this pewter color for my girls because I thought it was chic and sophisticated, would make them look great, and the colors would bounce off of my pink dress perfectly. My 2 MOH’s wore long dresses. I was so impressed with how everything coordinated together.

Flower Girl Dress: Us Angels, Wedding Salon of Manhasset
A+++++++++++++++++++

MOB dress: Mieka, Woodbury
A++ for the dress, B for alterations
My mom’s dress was so gorgeous. Everyone complimented her on it. The morning of the wedding, the zipper skipped and Tina the Limo Lady (more on her fabulousness later) had to sew her into her dress. Thankfully the seamstress from Mieka met us at Chelsea Mansion and fixed it as best she could.

PS-how hot is my mom???
Tuxes: Feldman Esquire Tuxedo, Lynbrook
A+
The tuxedos looked fantastic! All of our guys looked great. We bought them Burberry ties as part of their wedding gift to wear the day of the wedding. The groomsmen had a grey plaid, DH had a pink plaid (of course), and my brother who gave me away wore a burgundy plaid.

Hair and Makeup: My friends from work
A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Without divulging too much personal information, I work for a major makeup company, so naturally I had my choice of hair and makeup artists. I went with a close friend. I’m not putting names on here, as they do more editorial fashion work and celebs. My whole look was inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I wanted classic Hollywood glamour. I had 1 guy doing me and my mom, and another girl for the bridesmaids. It worked out great because everyone got to sleep in and not be rushed getting their hair and makeup done.

Hotel, the day before and the day of: The Inn at Fox Hollow
A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This hotel was absolutely fantastic. We had a royal suite which gave us the perfect place to take “getting ready” pictures. The room was so gorgeous, the hotel amenities are wonderful. I slept like a baby for 9 hours the night before our wedding! The morning of , I worked out in their gym for an hour AND had the buffet breakfast.

Flowers: Stefan’s Florist
A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I have seen Stefan’s work through the years (I used to work for a dj company) and always thought they did the most spectacular work. We worked with Paul, who is such a genius. We had an awesome collaboration and the flowers turned out amazing. I wanted everything super glamorous, yet not in the traditional fall color palette.

We also had Stefan’s do a floral arrangement for the table when you walk into the NRC.
Limousines: Tina the Limo Lady
A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Tina was one of our favorite vendors to work with. Her customer service is outstanding. In addition to the limos, she helped me coordinate everything the morning of the wedding. She is so organized and on top of her game. Our limos were perfect and right on time! She saved the day when my mom’s zipper on her dress busted. What would we have done without her? She also recommended the venue which we took pictures at. Tina made sure everything about our day was absolute perfection.

Rehearsal Dinner: Café Tessarossa, Syosset
A+
The food and service was absolutely fantastic at Café Tessarossa. Again, everyone was raving. I highly recommend this place.
Mother Nature, Day of the Wedding: B-
It was very, very grey the morning of our wedding. We thought the rain would have held up, but alas as soon as our ceremony started it was a torrential downpour for 3 hours. Thank God my hair was up! Luckily we had Chelsea Mansion for pics (more on that in a moment). The rain stopped by the time we were on our way to the reception and luckily we were able to get pictures outside.

Church: St. Paul the Apostle, Father Bob
A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ and beyond
I wanted to get married in the church my parents were married in as a way to honor my dad’s memory. The moment we met Father Bob we knew he was the perfect person to make us husband and wife. His personality clicked with ours. During our ceremony he found a way to incorporate THE RAIN as a blessing (i.e. water to wine) and held up my arm to show off my “bling bling”. Everyone who came to our ceremony fully enjoyed it.

Day of Pictures: Chelsea Mansion, Muttontown
A+
I never would have heard about this place if it weren’t for Tina the Limo Lady. Chelsea Mansion is absolutely breathtaking and gave us so many beautiful places to take pictures inside. Had the weather permitted we would have been able to use the grounds, but the mansion was so breathtaking we never missed the outdoors!

DJ/Lighting/Photobooth: EJ the DJ
A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
I worked for EJ for 5 years, so of course they were our first choice to do our reception! Brian was our DJ and Paul the emcee, and seriously they gave us the best party of all time! Epic! We even had a percussionist and plasma tv’s that were showing party pics of our guests all night. They did all of the uplighting in the room as well as the photobooth for our guests to use. I highly recommend

Notice our engagement pics are on the photobooth?? What a great detail!
Reception: The North Ritz Club
A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
NRC was the 2nd venue we looked at, and we booked it on the spot. This place is truly amazing and gave us such a fantastic wedding reception. Marianne was our banquet manager, and she was so helpful to us. George, our Maitre’d far surpassed our expectations. All of our guests are still raving about the food, the service, the venue, everything. A fantastic detail that they did for us was serve pink champagne instead of the regular. They completely aim to please, and really impressed DH and I, as well as our families and guests.

Photo/Video: Kornfeld, Rockville Centre
A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ and beyond!
I guess you could say I’ve saved the best for last. Kornfeld came recommended to us by friends of ours, and literally it was the first vendor we booked. Once we walked into their offices and saw samples of their work we knew this was who we wanted to work with. Our photos are so unbelievable, I literally cried when we got our proofs. They captured so many amazing moments, that I have no idea how we’re going to narrow down to an album. You’ve seen their work throughout this review. The day of the wedding they were so professional, and had so much fun with us! We never submitted a “must take pics” list because, after seeing the way our engagement pictures came out, we knew we had nothing to worry about. The 2 Mike’s were our photographers for the wedding, and Ethan did our video. AMAZING! What’s great is they loved our pics so much, we’re now on the wall the second you walk into their office (you can see it from the sidewalk too), and we’re going to be a sample wedding album that they show their customers. We will continue to work with this company as the years go by. The pictures and videos they took are truly reflective of how magical our wedding day was.

For your reference, here is 1of our E-Pics as well. We shot in DUMBO (Brooklyn).

I hope you thought this review was helpful! Thanks for reading.
