My 09/16/07 wedding review..Harbor Club and many others inside!!!!

Well I am finally getting around to writing this review, after all that has gone on this past month I can finally get my thoughts together so here it goes................................

I joined here soon after becoming engaged and this site has been a wonderful source for advice, ideas, and support. Ideas for many of the vendors I did hire came from this site..thank you LIW!!!

Pre wedding stuff;

My Gown- Davids Bridal Westbury..A
One day soon after getting engaged I was driving around and had'nt really thought of dress shopping yet but I was passing by Davids and it was a weekday morning so I figured why not go try a few on just to get an idea. I went in and because of the time of day it was it was not crowded at all which pleased me greatly.. I worked with a woman who was very nice and helpful, I picked 2 dresses out to try and she picked out a 3rd..I tried on the first 2 and they were nice, but I wasnt wowed so I figured at least I have an idea of styles I like...then she reminded me I had not tried on the 3rd...well I put that one on..and that was it!!! I knew right then and there...It was an Oleg Cassini CT131 and I bought it on the spot, and it was on sale so I got a great deal on it as well...My dress came in in 2 weeks!! and I took it home..I also got my MOH dress, flower girl dresses, and Jr. BM dress from Davids..all of which came in a very timely manner..I did not however have my dress altered there because of a previous experience with their alterations dept...review of my seamstress later....

Veil and Tiara- Barrons in tri county flea market Levittown A+++++
Because of reading about Barrons on LIW I went there..I also did this early on a weekday so I knew it would not be crowded..The woman there helped me for the good part of an hour to pick my veil..my tiara I picked within 10 mins, but the veil was another story..I had always pictured myself with a big poufy veil, but when she showed me the veils with the beaded edging I fell in love with one of them so I ended up with a single tiered, scalloped, beaded edge veil that was just beautiful. I received so many compliments on it and was happy with my choice. The prices at Barrons are very reasonable, and their ready time was accurate.. very good vendor..

Shoes- Shoebuy.com A++++

I bought dyeables white satin shoes with a platform type heel..very fast shipping..but I have to say the shoes killed my feet...as soon as I got to my reception i changed into my bridal flip flops which I got from Myglassslipper.com who were another good vendor with fast shipping...

Day of Jewelry, Bp necklaces-CJB designs A++++

I worked with Cortney from CJB designs for The necklaces for the BP and ended up liking something for myself. Cortney is very helpful and offers great communication with the customer . I was very pleased with the way the jewelry came out, and it was packaged so beautifully for delivery. The quality was excellent, and it matched my gown perfectly!!!!

Invitations- MyGatsby.com..A++++
This website is really great because you can truly design your own invite..I wanted a simple invite on a beautiful shimmery cardstock and that is what I got...The prices and customer service are great too..anytime I emailed with a question I was answered immediately...In the end I did decide that my invites needed a little something extra so I did purchase some swavorski crystal flatbacks and glued them on the invites, and it looked very nice...

Flowers- Flower Barn seaford...A+++

I worked with Mike who is very nice, My bouquets, centerpieces, corsages, bouts, and placecard table flowers were beautiful..Mike works with your budget and gives you ideas in a welcoming atmosphere....

Band/Dj- Sound on Sound A+++

Sound on Sound is a Harbor Club Vendor that came highly recommended...we met with Pete early on and we loved the work we saw...we had a 4 person band which was amazing, and a Dj that played the last hour and while the band was on break..during the cocktail hour we had live piano music as well which was amazing..Pete was always available if we had questions or concerns. we were rally happy with this vendor.

Photography- Velvet Studios A+++

This is another vendor I went to based on reviews on here...we had Bob and his wife shoot our wedding and they are really great people to work with. they are very friendly and really put you at ease. I have my proofs on DVD already and they are beautiful. I will post a few at the end of this review but am limited as my dh is very private so in order to respect that I wont be posting any of us together . I have to say though we were extremely pleased with our choice of velvet studios...

Gown Alteration- Admiration by Cathy, Merrick Rd Baldwin A++++++

I found Cathy from an LIW bride who answered my alteration post..I can not say enough about how happy I was with her..she was very accomadating, and just a sweet ,lovely ,woman.
on top of this her work was incredible!! my dress was altered perfectly, it fit like a glove on the big day, and people even commented on how well it was hemmed, and on how it fit..etc..her prices are amazing as well..i was very fearful I wouldnt find the right seamstress so Cathy was truly a godsend....

Favors

we did donations to The American Heart Association, and to The American Cancer Society I made tags myself and attached them to shimmery Ivory organza bags I bought at a great price from papermart.com and we put 3 lindt truffles in each from the Lindt outlet in Riverhead.

Menus- DIY by me

bought cardstock from staples, designed the menu in word, (thanks to HeatherRose who emailed me the template )Printed them out, added a swavorski flatback and I was done..I think they came out pretty and the guests liked not having to just rely on the waiter for the food choices...

Placecards

purchased the print yourself ones from gartner studios in ivory pearl...the printing process presented a few problems but once i got the bugs worked out they came out nice...

Wedding Day

Weather A++++++

I prayed to my Dad for good weather and boy did I get a beautiful day!!! it was sunny but cool and not at all humid..just perfect!!!!!!!

church- St. Raphaels, East Meadow

This is my childhood church..I was honored to be married there...The church is rebuilt and pretty new but it is just beautiful!!!!

Reception- The Harbor Club Huntington NY....A++++++++++

So, Many years ago..I would say a good 15 years ago, a good friend of mine was looking for a wedding venue I went with her on a few and one of them was the Harbor Club, I remember then really loving that place...it never left my mind...When it came down to our search last year for a venue ,Harbor club was top on my list..We looked at a few other places but nothing else gave me that feeling...when we met Matt the Banquet manager we really got a good feeling from him..it did not take us long to book...There really are not words enough to express what a good experience dealing with this venue was. we were always welcomed with a smile when we went there, Matt was always available if we needed to speak with him, really a pleasure to deal with from booking to the day of...The day of went beautifully..our maitre' d was wonderful as was the bridal attendant..the food was outrageous, very top quality, and the viennese hour was something people were raving about days later..its really hard to describe in words but I have had more than one person tell me that it was the best wedding they have been to in a long time..which makes me feel great...If anyone is thinking of using the Harbor Club please go see it. It is a wonderful venue with wonderful food, service, people, and a view to die for....

i cant believe I forgot...Hair- my friend from childhood Tara...no rating good enough

not much to say...this girl has been my friend since we were 5 and 6..she has always been my hairdresser but to me shes much more, she was also an invaluable source of help that day and it is something I will never forget....

Wonderful job on me, My mom and my MOH..she is friendly and professional. she knows her stuff and does a great job!!!![
