My 10/16/04 Wedding Review
10/16 Bourne Mansion ReviewAs some of you may remember, I posted my review right after my wedding, but I got a nasty fm from someone and she hurt my feelings so I took my review down. I am in the process of wiping my hd and came across my review. I wanted to repost it because I really appreciate the great jobs my vendors did and I wanted to give them props.
RD – Long Island Grill (Ronkonkoma)
Great! The food was wonderful and the staff was very accommodating, especially because it was bad weather and guests were coming in at different times & they did a great job w/ the groom’s cake.
Rev. Joe DeVincenzo
Very nice and funny. Him and his wife, Judy, were a pleasure to work with. He made the ceremony very personal and made all of our guests laugh. Very professional!
Flower Michele
I LOVE JOHN! He is the best florist ever. He made all of my visions come to life. I wanted an autumn themed wedding and that is exactly what I got. He spent about 3 hrs decorating the entire mansion for me. He decorated the buffets for CH w/ fall leaves, gourds, Indian corn, etc. We had candelabras full of fall flowers in the ceremony room, along w/ bails of hay and the biggest potted mums I have ever seen. He decorated every mantle w/ family pics, leaves and flowers. For CPs we had low gold bowls filled w/ fall flowers, acorns and gourds. He also made candle holders made out of little pumpkins and decorated our cake for us. Also the first thing my guests saw when they came into the mansion was a huge cornucopia surrounded by champagne and strawberries that John created for us.
Music by Michael
GREAT! Michael had our guests dancing all night. He was very professional and classy. His online planner is awesome to work with and he calls and confirms a day or two before to make sure you get exactly what you want. We almost got a band and I am so glad that we did not. If you are looking for a great DJ def talk to Michael!
Wild Rose
Bill was a pleasure to work with, as was his assistant. They were totally unobtrusive. Not in your face at all w/ no bright lights. Both my DH and I felt totally comfortable w/ them following us around all night. I cant wait to see our video!
Photo – we used a family friend that works with a well known studio so I am not posting a review.
Original Runner Co
It was a really nice touch and people were commenting on it all night.
Documents and Designs
We got our menus, place cards and table numbers from there. We ordered them kinda late, but they arrived in plenty of time. Very nice product and well worth the xtra $.
Audrey’s
WOW! Audrey’s made both our wedding cake and grooms cake. Grooms cake was strawberry shortcake in a NY Mets theme. Wedding cake was red velvet chocolate cake w/ cream cheese filling. It looked and tasted wonderful. John from flower Michele decorated the cake w/ flowers and we just had Audrey’s just write our monogram on the cake. I was very elegant and I wish I had some right now. Also, the chocolate fountain was a huge hit. Those ladies thinking of having it make sure you add an xtra hr so that all your guests get to try it out. If we didn’t have xtra time I think I would have been rushed.
Follow Your Heart
We used very simple ecru invite w/ pearl border on heavy card stock. Follow your heart faxed a proof and answered all my questions w/ a lot of tolerance.
Candy Apples
They were a huge hit. People were eating them all night. Everyone thought they were a very cleaver and unusual favor. Don’t have the info of where my gmthr got them, but fm me if you want details.
Jackie (I Make Up You)
GREAT! Like the rest of my vendors she was awesome. She did me, MoH, Mom and Godmother. She arrived at the mansion right on time and was really patient w/ my entire family hovering around her. She was really laid back and funny.
Holiday Inn Ronkonkoma
We had about 60 OOT guests. Their shuttle service worked out well for everyone. Everyone got their gift bags. The party continued after the wedding at the bar till after 3 am w/ their DJ. And my mom hosted a very nice morning after brunch in one of the hotels private rooms. The night b4 and the night off the wedding I stayed in the suite which was cool cause it had a Jacuzzi.
Mens Wearhouse
Great. No problems w/ any of our tuxes. We had orders placed in VA, SI, LI, IN, & FL and all the tuxes were in on time at the Mens Wearhouse in Lake Grove.
Burton’s Bridal (dress)
Very easy to work with. The women worked around my schedule for fitting (since I live oot). The women have a great sense of humor and the seamstress did a really good job of taking my dress in.
The Bourne
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! Lessings did a great job. Isais (sp?) was our M’D and he totally rules! He was so mellow and had everything under control from the very beginning. Joline was my bridal attendant. She arrived at the mansion at noon and was there for me the entire day and night. She hooked us up w/ what ever we wanted.
The mansion was spotless and my guests were blown away.
We did combo app and salad and we also had a combo entrée (grilled mahi mahi and gorgonzola crusted filet mignon). The combos went over really well. Everyone used the xtra time to dance and party.
Dawn from Cruise One
AWESOME! We had a problem w/ our first honeymoon and she was able to get us out of it w/ no additional charge. She was always available over the phone or internet to answer all of my questions. Our first day on the cruise she sent us a welcome basket w/ wine and fruit.
Norwegian Dawn Cruise from NY to Bahamas
I will never go on another cruise again. It was a spur of the moment decision after our first honeymoon fell through. This was the most disappointing aspect of the whole wedding process.
ETA: Ultimate Class Limos. Shuttle bus to and from Bourne for OOT guests. 2 12 person buses. From what I heard they were on time, very personable, and very clean
Hope this review helps. Please FM if you want to know anything else.

I actually went to the Bourne the morning of Meg's wedding to check out the flowers (I am also using Flower Michele). I even got to see Meg! The Bourne Mansion looked awesome. John did a great job. Meg looked beautiful as you can see from the pictures, and her mom was so nice too!!!!!!

Meglehneryou said that you did not like the Norwegian Dawn Cruise from NY to Bahamas and that it was very disappointing
was it that particular cruiseline or was it the cruise in general that you were disappointed in
if you don't mind me asking

Neither I nor my DH had ever been on a cruise before so it may be that we are just not cruise people. 1st off the ship was beautiful, very clean and the staff was awesome. The rooms were a good size. But on this particular cruise there is way too much time on the ship. We got bored! The pool on board was salt water (I dont know if that is all cruises? but I did not like it). The hot tubs were fun, but they did get crowded. The shows were not that great and the casino was pretty lame. We did win $350 playing bingo which was cool. The bars and bartenders were a lot of fun, but very expensive and since we were bored most of time on board we drank a lot. The most disappointing aspect of the cruise was the food. The buffets were not good at all. I did not like a lot of the choices and the dining room for the buffets were too small, there was a BBQ every afternoon on board which was good, but the selection of food got boring after awhile. Norweigen Dawn has a bunch of specialty resturants - most of which were good. The mexican resturant and the steakhouse were my fav.
There was an emergency evacuation on board, which put us 8 hours behind schedule. We missed out return flight home to indy and since they were behind the ship was going really fast the last 2 days and we hit bad seas. We did not leave our room for the last 2 days and neither did most people. The boat did not stop rocking and people were getting sick all over the place.
Hope this answers any questions you had.
