My 10-7-06 Gurneys Inn review (w/tons of pics), Wedding Cinema, Kim Covell, Thomas Knoell, Strawberry Fields, Adrienne's, Signed Pieces, Burke Entertainment, etc.

Okay so i'm going to keep this short because my memory is fried and i can't possibly list all the companies i used. So i'll stick to the most important ones.

LIWeddings... you all know that's going to be a 10! I love this website, Ron and you LIW girls (especially 2 in particular ).

Gurneys: 9.5
I always wanted my wedding on the beach and so i chose Gurneys Inn in Montauk. The maitre de Zelco did an amazing job, as did John, the banquet manager. I love love love these men! The food was really good, everything was set up the way i wanted it, each table had their own waiter and everything ran smoothly. The reason i didn't give it a 10 was because during cocktail hour my husband and i missed out on all the food. Keep in mind we attended the cocktail hour but because we were mingling, we missed all the food. My only suggestion would be that it would have been nice if we were brought a plate while walking around. But that is my only suggestion on how to improve the wedding.

Kim Covell: (photographer) 10+
I couldn't be happier with our pictures! She did a great job, was early, stayed an extra hour longer than we agreed, and we got the pictures back the week we came back from our honeymoon! We got 2 copies of each picture, a cd with all the pictures on it, and the negatives. I couldn't say enough nice things about her and the job she does. Oh and you can't beat the price!!!! We weren't looking to spend more than $2000+ on our pictures and we didn't. She did an amazing job and was well within our budget. I highly recommend her!!! FM me if you want more details on her.

Strawberry Fields: 10
My flowers were beautiful and i have absolutely no complaints. Mary is the best at what she does and she is by far the cheapest in town. She did an excellent job!!!!!

Adrienne's Bridal in Islip: 10
I know there are mixed feelings about Adrienne's but i had absolutely NO problems at all. They were great! I got my dress there, my mothers, my MIL, aunts, BM dresses, etc. Not one problem! We used Chloe and she was the best!

Thomas Knoell: 10++++
I got all my wedding day jewelry from Thomas Knoell and i love it! I got earrings, the Grace comb and a bracelet. It was a bit expensive but i wasn't able to find anything that i loved until i went to his store. I definitely recommend all brides going there!!!

Wedding Cinema: (Pete) 10+
I'm not going to rate him yet since we haven't received the video yet. But i will say he was a pleasure to work with! Always responded quickly to phone calls or emails, was 15 minutes early, and we didn't even notice he was there. ETA: I GOT THE VIDEO BACK!!! Pete did an excellent job with it. It was perfect! I didn't want something really long or something over the top either. I just wanted the day as it was... nothing fancy, not a music video, no fading, no cheesiness, etc. He got it perfectly!!! There was one thing that i wanted changed in the video and i had my new copies within days! I can't say enough good things about him and his work. I would highly recommend him.

Burke Entertainment: 6
For the most part, they were good. However, i gave them an extensive list of music that we liked. Now i of course gave them some wiggle room to switch things up or to play something else if needed. During the ceremony and cocktail hour... they were perfect. However, my husband and i are very particular about music. During the reception, out of nowhere they played techno music (which cleared the dance floor) and then some 70's music (which we are not a fan of). Now most of our list was rock music so it just didn't fit. Also, i had put on the list that no requests were allowed and certainly no group dances (except the hokie pokie since that was my husbands mascot at college- a hokie). Well all of a sudden, the dj announces that in a few minutes we will be starting the limbo. The limbo?!?!?!?! OH NO. no no no. Thankfully, mcb916 put an end to that idea! Thanks Meg!!!! Then my husband and i asked that they speed up the dances (father-daughter, mother-son, etc) because our photographer had to leave soon. The dj said that normally they do all those after cake and i disagreed. I said i didn't care and that we needed to do them sooner than later. Now why you would wait until the end of the night to do all those dances, bouquet toss, garter, etc so that your guests could be bored instead of spacing them out... is beyond me. They did do as we asked... after we asked them a second time.

Wedding Band: 10
Signed Pieces in the diamond district. I searched high and low for a band to match my e-ring (my e-ring sits very low on my finger... very low). I didn't want to settle on what i wanted and i finally found it. LOVE IT!

Sir Oliver Limos: 10
We had no need for limos for the wedding, but we did use them for aiport service for our honeymoon to and from. They were great! Always early, friendly and speedy.

the favors were M&M's in our colors, each guest had one box each and our table #'s were pictures of us holding up a paper with the # on it. Each picture or table # was different.




our cake and yes our intials spell A*S and we did it anyway! You have to have a little fun with it!

i think that's it!!! It was a great day and it was exactly how we wanted! you can't get any better than that!
