My 2/11/06 review- Code Bleu, The Flower Barn , Proline Studios , Alexis Limo's and more!!
I want to preface by saying I thought it would be easier to read by doing my review in sections by vendor. My rating is A+ being the highest (meaning they went above and beyond my expectations) and F being total failure (I’ll tell you now I didn’t give out any Fs)We had such an amazing time!!! I loved my wedding! We married the morning of 2/11/06 the weekend of the blizzard! Luckily the snow held off until the reception and our guests and vendors all made it home safely!! We did have some cancellations Friday from people afraid to travel, however, we also had people that had rsvped as “No” call up and ask to come so it worked out pretty well. We had planned the wedding knowing there was a strong possibility of snow so we had preparations made in our contracts so when we heard about the potential blizzard we weren’t concerned.
I absolutely loved my wedding!!! I was so happy to marry the most incredible man I’ve ever met in my life!!! We just had a fantastic wedding!! Our guests had a wonderful time as well!!!

Skyline Orchestras “Code Bleu” : A+ An absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish!I absolutely loved our band! They were so incredible!! I loved them at all the showcases before the wedding but the day of they just blew me away!! I was so happy with them!! They learned our first dance, “Fly Farther” by Jars of Clay, and modified it for us! The song is a beautiful song but ends with the wife dying so we asked them to modify it for us and they did a phenomenal job!! They also learned some of our favorite songs and played them for us throughout the night! They went above and beyond! A week before my wedding I received a call from the music director at my church, he wanted me to get him lyrics and sheet music for one of the songs we had selected for the ceremony, a song that he had told me he played a thousand times already. I have no background in music and had no idea where to find sheet music so I called Sean from Code Bleu since I knew the song was on his play list. Not only was he going to give him the sheet music and lyrics but he was going to play the song over the phone and teach him the harmonies!! Unfortunately for me my music director was rather embarrassed and refused to call, he went to Sam Goody and purchased what he needed and did an okay job. I just thought it was so wonderful that Sean was willing to do all that though!
All in all I strongly encourage booking them for your wedding, they are absolutely incredible!! Our guests adored them!! They are still talking about how phenomenal the band was and it’s been over a month since the wedding!!!

The Flower Barn: A+ An absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish!I worked with Michael and am so pleased to welcome them to Long Island Weddings!! (I’m glad you finally joined – now you see all the wonderful reviews and posts we’ve been making about you!) I absolutely loved loved loved my bouquet!! I really regret now that I didn’t splurge and get the bouquet preservation! It was just gorgeous and even more beautiful than I had envisioned!! The girls bouquets were just gorgeous as well and all the corsages and boutonnières!!! I loved the centerpieces and church decorations as well!! Everything was just spectacular!!! I had decided I wanted each girl to have a different bouquet with a different color flower and different type of flower, then mine would be a combination of all their bouquets and a few other flowers, also, the groomsmen would match their boutonnières with the bridesmaid they were escorting. I just loved how it looked and I got so many compliments on the flowers!!! Everything was just gorgeous!!!
I strongly recommend using this vendor, everything was just perfect!!

Alexis Limousines: A+ An absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish!I was so happy with our limousines!! We got the 16 passenger excursion for the bridal party and a 6 passenger stretch limo for the parents and grandparents. The limousines were early (which I love), clean, and fully stocked! There was champagne, and even better a fully stocked cooler of all different kinds of soft drinks for the kids!! I loved our driver too! I wish I knew his name but he was fabulous! He helped our photographer setup the different shots, helped me in and out, took care of my bouquet, and took care of the bridal party and the march down the aisle! Unfortunately, most of our bridal party were not able to make the rehearsal, our driver told each one what to do and made sure they were spaced out evenly. I was so happy with our limos!! They were so nice! I was disappointed because they canceled the limo we booked to take us into Manhattan Saturday night because of the snow, but my FIL and Uncle in law drove us in, which was so nice of them!!
I strongly recommend using this vendor, I was very happy with them!

Proline Studios Photography: A+ An absolute pleasure to deal with from start to present! Our photographer was George and everyone just loved him!! He was such a pleasure to deal with and we had so much fun!! He managed to get everyone smiling and laughing (my father, FIL, little BIL, and DH don’t smile in photos, I guess it’s a guy thing – and George got them smiling!) Not only was he a pleasure to deal with throughout the day, his photographs were gorgeous!! I loved the proofs!! Choosing 60 was such a difficult task for me! He captured everything we wanted and more!! I was so happy!! He did a mix of traditional posed shots (that I actually really liked and I normally don’t like posed shots) photojournalistic, and candid, which is exactly what I wanted! I don’t usually like the way I photograph, but I felt beautiful in all his pictures!! He didn’t disturb anyone either when taking table shots and pictures of the dancing which was important!
Also, I just went for my album and met with Brittany (I hope I spelled this right, if not I’m sorry!) and she was also a pleasure to deal with! She is so nice and creative, and I had so much fun putting the album together!! I can’t wait to see the finished product!! I know she will do a fantastic job and love it already!!
I highly recommend this vendor and photographer! They have been so wonderful!!
Proline Studios Videography: A+ An absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish!
Our videographer was Adam; he was a pleasure to deal with!! I just got the raw video footage instead of an edited version and love it!! I had such a good time watching it and am very happy with it! He wasn’t intrusive at all and didn’t disturb my guests; they actually called him “the shadow” because you never noticed where he was!
I highly recommend this vendor and videographer I was happy with everything!

Designs by Tia: A+ An absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish!Tia is a good friend of mine who also does jewelry design. She did the earrings for my girls, my MILs necklace, and my necklace and they were all so gorgeous!!! Each girl had selected a different dress and I wanted to have different accessories to accent the dresses and their different styles and personalities!! I brought in pictures of the dresses and Tia and I talked about what would work for each girl, and I just love the end result!!! Everything came out gorgeous!! She uses swarovski crystal and sterling silver!! She also made a pearl and crystal necklace for my MIL!! FM me if you are interested in contacting her! Unfortunately I don’t have any pics of the girl’s earrings or my MILs necklace but I have a pic of my necklace that I love!
I strongly recommend her!!!

Estelle’s Dressy Dresses: A A pleasure to deal with!Yes I got my wedding gown at Estelle’s and loved it! I absolutely loved my dress, it was even more beautiful than anything I’d tried and I felt stunning in it! Perfection!! The salespeople at Estelle’s were so nice and helpful too! I actually went to Estelle’s on a whim, I had no plans of going there but had just had bad experiences with two bridal salons and was very disappointed when mom suggested we go to Estelle’s and just take a look. When we arrived all the dresses were out on display, they had several sizes so you could try it on in your size, and you got to select what you wanted instead of being brought dresses the sales person thought matched your specifications. I tried a lot of beautiful dresses on when the saleswoman approached with my strapless dress (I was determined that strapless would be uncomfortable but decided to try it on anyway). As soon as I put it on I knew this was the dress!! It was perfect!! I love my veil too it was just stunning!!!!
I would strongly encourage going there even just to look!
Mon Cheri: A+
I have to give credit to Mon Cheri the maker of my dress!! Whoever their designer is knows women!! My dress was pure perfection!! It had a sewn in corset and with safety straps so you weren’t falling out of the dress and the crinoline was sewn in! It saved a lot of money on undergarments that are only worn once! Also, my favorite part of my dress was the removable broach on the back “so the bride can always have a piece of her dress!” The dress also came with a hem to hollow measurement at no extra charge saving money on alterations; all I needed was a bustle!
This is a phenomenal designer!

Sal’s Fashion Tuxedos: A+ An absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish!I love this tuxedo place! They did DHs tuxedo years ago when we went to prom together, and now they did our wedding! I was so happy, everyone looked so handsome!! They treated everyone wonderfully! Also, one of our groomsmen came from out of state and couldn’t come in to get measured, they told him how to do the measurements and what he needed over the phone, his tux fit perfectly that day! They were also extremely accommodating with the blizzard, everyone was late dropping off their tuxes because of the weather, and nobody was charged a dime, I was thrilled!! I especially loved my little BIL’s outfit; he came up with it all on his own! He wore spats and an adorable hat with a red feather!
I highly recommend this vendor!

Sandy’s Shoes: A Always a pleasure to deal with!I just love this place! I’ve purchased shoes several times and most of the women in my family and bridal party all bought their shoes from here. Every time nothing but wonderful experiences and gorgeous shoes!! I am just so happy with all the wonderful work they’ve done!
I strongly recommend this vendor!
Salon Blue Jennifer: A+ An absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish!
I just loved my hair, and my sister’s hair!! I just felt so gorgeous!! And the best part my hair stayed beautiful all day and night!! I have long very thick and very difficult hair; it takes forever to style and is very difficult to manage a decent style. Jennifer made my hair beautiful!! I was so happy with how it came out!! I just loved it!! She was early (love that) and so nice!!
Also, Salon Blue is where I normally get my hair done and I just love them!! Every time has been a wonderful, fun, pleasurable experience!! I also took my SIL the day before and we had a spa day, and loved it!! It was such a great way to distress! We had spa manicures and pedicures, massages, and complimentary blow outs!! It was fabulous!
I strongly recommend Jennifer for the wedding and the salon itself for normal hair, skin, and nail care!

I Makeup You Jackie: AI loved my airbrushing!! I felt beautiful, and I never feel beautiful!! I just loved the way I looked and how my sister and mother looked!! Everyone was just gorgeous!! She did a phenomenal job!!! And the airbrushing lasted all night without wearing off at all, it was also extremely comfortable, I didn’t feel dirty like I do after a long day with normal makeup!! And for the record I was so sick the day of my wedding, the airbrushing made me look like a beautiful healthy girl!! It took away my paleness and blotchiness and I looked great!!!
I recommend this vendor and airbrushing!

Re: My 2/11/06 review- Code Bleu, The Flower Barn , Proline Studios , Alexis Limo's and more!!
The Bridal Garden: AI chose the designer and color for my BM dresses and let me girls each select the gown of their choice. The Bridal Garden had the largest selection of Alfred Angelo dresses, the actually had every dress from the catalogue, and were so wonderful to my girls!! My girls probably tried every gown on at least once! They were so patient and the end result was gorgeous!! I actually couldn’t have planned it better if I picked the gowns, the older girls all chose satin gowns with a small train, and the junior bridesmaids chose chiffon dresses with empire waists!!! Even though they had different dresses they coordinated beautifully!! My flower girl also chose her own dress from them and she was just adorable!! I was so happy with how all the girls looked and how patient they were with us!! 5 girls had there alterations done there, nobody had any problems, except my MOH whose bustle broke during the cocktail hour, and it wasn’t even stepped on, otherwise everything was good!
I recommend this vendor – they have a huge assortment of BM dresses and were good to work with!

Exclusively Weddings: AI ordered my invitations through them, had no problems at all, and was very happy with the end result! They were very easy to order from and select my invites!
Gingersnap Garters: A+ An absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish!
I loved my garter, my MOH/sister had it designed for me by Gingersnap and had such a wonderful experience I had to make sure she got her due credit!! My sister also had other garters made as gifts for friends and just loved working with Gingersnap!! She is an absolute pleasure to deal with!! She will custom make whatever you desire!!
I strongly recommend this vendor, a pleasure to deal with!!

Re: My 2/11/06 review- Code Bleu, The Flower Barn , Proline Studios , Alexis Limo's and more!!
The Sandcastle the day of: BAll my guests loved it - I'm told the food was amazing and the cake was good - I was sick so I couldn’t eat or taste anything but I’m assured it was wonderful!! I'm still getting calls from my guests telling me what a wonderful time they had. I had the Skylight room which was just beautiful and a full Viennese.
Overall the day of Sandcastle threw a wonderful party. I was extremely worried about having my wedding there since they made the whole planning process miserable as most of you know from my previous posts. Also, two days before the wedding my BM threw a fit to my mother about my posts on here regarding the food and cake tasting which I thought was extremely unprofessional since they were the truth and she knew it and I didn't say anything nasty. Also, the full Viennese was supposed to be set up in a separate room and the wall slides back to let the guests in to prevent disrupting the dance floor. That day though, one of the waiters came up to DH and I telling us the Viennese was being set up and he was going to take us inside the room for a tour before opening it up for the guests, as he's telling us this the other wait staff cleared the dance floor and wheeled in the Viennese on carts instead. The guests loved it anyway but when it was cleared up (all this was done over an hour early) the guests thought it was over and a lot left, we still had 45 minutes left. I found out later they did this because they booked a 7:00pm cocktail hour in my room and my Viennese was supposed to end at 6:30pm so they decided to setup the cocktail hour early in the other room.
My guests loved it though!! They had a wonderful event and the wait staff was absolutely wonderful - if someone got up to dance they covered the food and coffee to keep it warm and refolded the napkins, my guests were so impressed!! The wait staff was just fabulous!!! They really took care of my guests and made sure everyone had a wonderful time!!
We had a wonderful wedding regardless of the planning process and enjoyed ourselves immensely!

ETA: I totally forgot to review the dance studio we took lessons at!Jacto Dance Studio: A
The studio is in Massapequa on Broadway and we did group lessons with a few couples from pre-cana, with a group of six it was $15 a person. It was fun and I learned two things 1. I do not follow well 2. I have absoultely no rythm. My DH actually turned out to be quite a good dancer but we had to learn a modified club foxtrot b/c i couldn't keep up with anything else (I was always on the wrong foot and off beat). The lessons were great but my teacher would be mortified if she saw us the day of. I forgot every single step! We ended up with a modified sway and shuffle but we still had alot of fun!!
