My 4/17/10 Woodlands Wedding Review
Our wedding April 17, 2010 went really well and pretty much everything was perfect. Sorry I don't have any photos to share but hopefully my reviews are still helpful!Rehearsal Dinner: Honu, Huntington, NY
Our rehearsal dinner was awesome. Everyone loved the food and the decor. A+
Dress: Burton's Bridals
I found my Maggie Sottero Symphony dress at Carmela's Bridal Garden (which I think has since closed), and purchased it at Burton's Bridals because they had the best price. They were easy to work with, despite their reputation, and the dress came out lovely with the alterations. A
Accessories: etsy.com
My awesome hair comb and necklace were from etsy.com seller Lulu Splendor. She shipped my jewelry the week before the wedding from Australia and it arrived in time and was gorgeous! A+
Bridesmaid dresses: Burton's Bridals
We got our Watter's dresses at Burton's because they were the cheapest. My maids had their dresses altered on their own so I don't have any feedback about their alterations on bridesmaid dresses. A
Bridesmaid jewelry: etsy.com
Another awesome etsy.com seller, Meadowbelle Market, created custom necklaces for my girls, which came out amazing and everyone loved! A+
Tuxedos: Esquire
They came highly recommended on these forum boards and they were exactly as good as everyone says. Our color was extremely hard to find and they special ordered ties to match the bridesmaid dresses. They were accomodating for our out of town members and everything looked great! A+
Flowers: Burton's Bridals
Burton's was really great. The centerpiece flowers were just as I requested. They only let you see a mock-up of your centerpiece and not the bouquet, which might have been nice. The tulips in my bouquet were not completely bloomed and a little green at the beginning of the day, but they turned more purple and bloomed by the end. The boutonnieres were very lovely. Overall they did a great job, no frills but nice simple flowers like I wanted. B+
Rings: Gabriel
Our rings are great and came out exactly as we wanted. However, they were extremely late and we ended up having to pick them up three days before the wedding at another location because it turned out they never originally processed the order and they hadn't made them. If this hadn't happened, they would have an A+, but the stress and hassle definitely brings them down. B-
Limos: Camelot
The limos were on time and very professional. We got a bridal car and one 14 person limo to transport the bridal party and everything worked out perfectly with the schedule. A+
Church: Saint Elizabeth Church, Melville NY
Can you really rate a church? My home church was very accomodating and gorgeous.
Reception: The Woodlands
The Woodlands was phenomenal. Everyone raved about the cocktail hour and the food in general. The bridal suite and attendant were great and pretty much everyone went according to plan. Two problems: Our cake, which we ordered as vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling, was chocolate cake with buttercream filling. Also, they forgot to put out our favors (which were in the refrigerator) until half of the guests left. Other than those two problems, everyone went very smoothly and everyone was extremely impressed with the place. A+
DJ: Parties Alive
Since we are into kind of non-mainstream music, we were concerned about our DJ playing a good mix of our music and music that everyone would like. Parties Alive did an excellent job of mixing our list of songs with crowd pleasers. I got compliments on the music from my grandmother, my father, and my friends, which just shows how well the dj mixed it up so everyone was happy. A+
Photographer & Videographer: **********
Our photographer was Ted and he was awesome. We picked him based on albums we saw at their office because we liked his style. He took great shots and didn't waste a lot of time doing a million posed photos. He was everywhere we went the whole day and did a great job of capturing all of the people that were there. The videographer was also great. We only paid for raw footage for both photo and video and they did a great job. A+
Pretty much everything else we had was DIY (hair, makeup, invitations, favors, etc).
