My Big Fat Italian Wedding

I am going to try to keep this short and sweet.

My wedding was on Sunday, October 1, 2006.

Dress

Demetrios @ Macy's of Manhasset: I bought my dress at the trunk show, saved some money there, but the alteration company located in Macy's is a rip off, and to be honest the alterations could have been better. Veils are cheaper and nicer at Estelle's in Farmingdale. Also bought the bridesmaids, flower girls, mother of the bride, and mother of the groom dresses at Macy's.

Tux

Dante Zeller: Pretty flexible and a lot of color choices. If you attend a bridal show, you can get a package price.

Church

St. Barnabas in Bellmore: Father Peter was really nice and so was our PreCana hosts. We weren't allowed to throw anything so we had a balloon launch and set up a bubble machine courtesy of Mike from the New York Fun Factory.

Reception

Crest Hollow Country Club: Everything seemed well as far as the food and drinks. The bridal attendant was gone 95% of the time, and the Maitre d was in la la land. They are a bit shady as far as planning. Not recommended.

Limo

Royalty Limo: I can't tell you what a great job they did. You are only in the limo for a small part of the day, but they are on top of everything. They make sure everything is brought in the limo, everything taken out, and they set you up to walk down the aisle. Excellent!!

Photography

Rumore Photography: Although he doesn't work off a shot list, he takes traditional and photojournalistic pictures. Otherwise, an excellent choice.

Video

MJ Video: We didn't really get to meet with him at his office, the video came out good. We didn't get the raw footage though.

Flowers

Pedestals Florist: Dealt with Nadia, who was extremely helpful throughout. My bouquet was beautiful. However, the day of the wedding, just as we are leaving the house to go to church, I noticed that the bridesmaid flowers were not wrapped with the fabric we brought to them. No phone call or nothing to let us know about the change. I really didn't appreciate that. My cake looked like a vomit of flowers. Luckily, they only touched one side of the cake so it was turned around. Hideous!

Shoes

Sandy's in Massapequa: Very comfortable and gorgeous.

Favors

Circle Glass: We ordered shot glasses through this company and packaged them with confetti and bigliettini ordered from Italy.

Music (no band for us)

Starlight Express DJs: Fantastic as usual! My name was said wrong once or twice but I forgive them

Emilio: I had to have an accordion player at my wedding. He is absolutely phenomenal!!

Hair

Carmela: Arrived at my house ready to go, and her assistant was great.

Makeup

Beauty by Beth: She is very sweet and nice. I loved the way my makeup came out! Highly recommended!!

Honeymoon in Hawaii

Marriot in Kuai: Loved it! Great food and atmosphere.

Ritz Carlton in Maui: Hated it! We kept busy with activities around Maui, but the hotel was blah. It smelled like a floral spray was being pumped into the room, food was off the wall expensive, and people lack social skills.
