My E-Party Review:The Metropolitan, Glen Cove; Flowers by Burton, pics!!!

Invitations:
Tiny Prints= A+
We ordered the cardstock from them, and then printed them ourselves at home. If I could have done this again I would have had them print them, because it was a pain in the butt to print them ourselves. They shipped quickly and had great customer service. It's a subsidiary of Wedding Paper Divas.

I have an account with them through my job. They were very quick with the turnaround. I thought the print job could have been better, especially because we got our wedding favors printed at the same time and that order was spectacularly printed. That is the reason for the minus grade. We bought the Valentine's M+M's and filled the jars ourselves. We also stuck the labels on ourselves. People loved them!

The Club at The Metropolitan: A-
Glen Cove NY 11542.

The Club is a smaller, lower level of the Metropolitan. It has a large bar and seating for up to 100. We had about 65 people. We dealt with Eileen at the Met, and she was very attentive, professional, helpful and thorough. Everything we asked for, she was able to provide at no extra charge. We had a pink champagne cocktail upon arrival, and for about the first hour of the party. Then champagne was available, as well as a full bar for the rest of the party. It was a 3 hour cocktail party. She was able to include heart shaped linzer tarts, as well as pink sprinkled heart cookies to go with our Valentine's theme. Jean was our Maitre'd and was very helpful. She packed up all of our gifts for us, which was very helpful. One of the reasons for the minus grade is because we didn't have all 6 of the passed hors d'oeuvres that we were supposed to have had. What we did get was delicious. The duck quesadillas were terrific, the spanakopita were delicious, sesame chicken skewars were also very good. There was smoked salmon and creme fraiche, but it was supposed to be on a potato pancake, and instead it was on a ritz type mini-cracker, which was odd. There was a large Mediterranean Table with hummus, cheeses, proscuitto, salami, seafood salads, grilled vegetables, breads, flatbread, etc. Everyone said it was delicious, we didn't get to eat very much of it, but it got rave reviews. There was fruit, cookies, and pastries, as well as coffee and tea for dessert. Another reason for the minus grade, was that there was not enough for our amount of guests. The pastries and cookies ran out very quickly and were never replenished. Our bartender was great terrific, my mom really got to know him

One of our guests said the coffee was the best she'd ever had, and Eileen said they've been using the same coffee distributor for the last 20 years. All in all, the Metropolitan was great, and we would highly recommend them to anyone.

Flowers:
Flowers by Burton: A-
Melville NY

We dealt with Bobbi at Burton's, and she was really great. From our first phone conversation, she was really down to earth, and knew exactly what we wanted. They were really reasonably priced, and the product delivered was amazing. One of the reasons for the minus grade was that half the vases were supposed to be round, and half were supposed to be square. It was minimal, but I took it into account. The other reason is because the pink flowers were browned on a bunch of the centerpieces. When we saw the sample a few days before the party, they were actually brown as well! I said something about it then, and Bobbi said 'oh those are protector petals, and we pluck those off after they've had time to open up before the event'...And the day-of a lot of the pinks were brown on the tips. Overall, the flowers were gorgeous and we were extremely happy with them.
