My Great 03/30/07 Wedding...Proline, Camelot, Thatched Cottage and more! Updte w/ pics on bottom!

Ok girls, here it is! I am a little late and a little computer illiterate so I am not going to add pics, but if you want to see some samples of Proline's work, just FM me.

First of, I would like to thank this website for keeping me sane in the last few months of planning. I found out about the chat feature on this with three months to go but I soon became addicted! Thanks to all you girls for your great advice, for making me laugh and keeping me going!

Invites and Favors: Consolidated Printing (Joan Greenlaw, FLoral Park, NY) A++++++ She was recommended to me by my mother in law's friend and she is great! She works out of her house and lets you take home the invitation books you are interested in for as long as you want to decide! She helped me pick out my dream invitation at a lower cost and helped me to design it...the invitation I wanted of course was a bit expensive but she wrked within my budget. She also has a wide variety of favors, from budget to high end. This is the best part...she ordered my favors, gave them to me and I didn't pay her until three weeks AFTER the wedding! SHe knew I was on a budget and didn't want to bother me. I highly recommend her! Fm me for details!

Mother Nature: A+++++ I became addicted looking at the 10 day forecast before my wedding. it went from 53 and sunny, to 45 and rainy, to 53 and rainy and back again. Then, two days b efore the wedding, all the news channels were forecasting for 65 and sunny....and it was just that! I could not have asked for a better day!

Dress, Private Label by G A: I think my dress made me look gorgeous and slim! (which are two things I am definitely not!) It fit like a glove. The only thing was, the beading kept chafing me under my arm so I ended up a little red. Otherwise, I loved it!

Alterations: Ana Maria (family friend but she will do anyone, FM for info) A+++++++++ SHE IS AWESOME! I totally procrastinated getting my dressed altered, I kept saying a few more pounds, a few more pounds..but finally I went to her. She is phenomenal. She has worked at a bunch of couture shops and often designed the dresses the shops took credit for. She charged me $250 which included: the bustle (french) any and all alterations (she re-worked a lot of the beading on my dress) she also steams it and will keep it in her house until the day before your wedding, just in case it will wrinkle. She did a great job!

SHoes: Some store on Old Country Road in Westbury A: LOL I cannot remember the name of the store but it is in a tiny shopping center that has a tanning place and chinese food place in it. It will be on your righthand side if you are travelling West. I paid 62 bucks for a very simple pair of close toed low heeled shoes. They didn't hurt me at all...sorry this is so uninformative!

Hair: My stylist, Sue. A+ I was such a baby the day of my wedding. SHe did the updo exactly how I wanted it in the back, but we couldnt get the front right. I burst into tears, and she didn't get frightened, she just kept trying different options. Finally she chopped off some of my same length hair and left a little bit framing my face to my chin..I was so happy! It looked great and stayed in pretty much all night until I became a sweaty mess from dancing so much!

Makeup: Melinda (LIW vendor) A+ She did a great job, she didn't say a peep when I showed up at my house a half an hour late even though she had another bride to do. She did my mom, my sister and me. She even got my very dry chin (D AMN retin A!) to stay moist for the most part...she gave me also a lip liner to reapply my lipstick...my eye makeup stayed on All night despite the fact that I sweat like a beast! I was very happy.

Photographer/Videographer (PROLINE) A++++++
I am so very happy with my proofs and my (uneditted video) I was so surprised that John captured so many great moments and I didn't even realize he was around at the reception. He did a great mix of traditional and photojournalistic shots, which is exactly what I wanted. I couldnt afford the photojournalist but he gave me the best of both worlds! He shot 786 pictures! He arrived early to my house, and did everything my family asked for. He even withstood my mini breakdown when I realized I had dirt on my train before the reception! George was our videographer who was also great. DH spoke to him more but he also captured a lot of great shots, even though the d amn maitr'd is standing in front of the door when the dj was announcing my bridal party, not his fault. They haven't done the editted video yet but I am sure it will be great!

CAMELOT LIMOS A+++++++++++++++++++++ I cannot give them enough pluses, Joe is simply fabulous.
From the moment we booked we knew we made the right choice. Everytime I called with a question, Joe was so helpful. The day of the wedding, Joe and Frank showed up on time and ready to go. Frank drove my brother to the church to meet the guys, even though us girls weren't ready and cmae back to pick us up. Joe was more than just a driver, he was a life saver. After I realized that i had dirt on my train, Joe was the one with the baking soda rubbing it out. When my two year old niece dropped her basket in the middle of the aisle, Joe was there to scoop it up. when I got bird seed everywhere, Joe was picking it out of my veil. The champagne toast in front of the limo was a nice touch, we have some great photographs and some great video. BOOK with Camelot! You are not getting just a limo company, but people who help you advert disaster or any other little problem you might run into. Go, go now...BOOK THEM!

Flowers: Simply Elegant (Glen Head) A+ I gotta give it to my girl a Simply Elegant. She did an awesome job. The price could not be beat no matter how hard I looked! I went to go see a sample twice and both times, I absolutely cried my eyes out I hated them. LMAO. The second time, she actually wrote into my contract that it the flowers she ordered did not come in opened, she would hand open them herself. She also upped my centerpiece to 2 dozen roses. I didn't have time to go see a third sample, so I was soo worried on the day of. Well we ordered one two many centerpieces so she dropped one off at the house along with the bouquets and everything was right in the world. They were simple, yet elegant and everything looked great. My bouquet was absolutely to die for...in MHO. And I heard from everyone who took the centerpieces home, they lasted for a week and a half!

DJAY: GLMJ Sounds A++++++ This DJ is actually a friend of mine's father. I had initially booked with another DJ who was a friend of my cousin's but they had a falling out and honestly, the fact that he asked me to burn a cd of spanish music that we wanted played at the reception for him (DH family is from Chile) turned me off. So I spoke to my friend and he suggested his father. He is Puerto Rican and did not have to ask for us to burn a cd of spanish music for him! We met with him twice and each time he spent over two hours with us, showing us how he would announce certain parts of the recpetion, working on music with us and just showed us how excited he was to have us as clients. He has soo much energy, even the maitred had to tell him to take it down a notch and is just pysched to be doing your wedding. He pulled off our Star Wars entrance perfectly and kept the dance floor packed all night. Even though we didn't ask him, he played a lot of contemporary music as well as the old school standard stuff. I couldn't believe he played Last Night by Diddy! My very irish family was dancing all night to the merengue and reggaeton. I HIGHLY recommend him and he is not at all expensive. He is not a bells and whistles DJ, if you are looking for plasmas and giveaways, he is not your guy, but if you are looking to have your dance floor absolutely packed, call him...right now...he is located in Greenpoint Brooklyn, right off the BQE. FM me for details.

Oh before I forget. BIRDSEED. A big FAT F
Don't do it girls, don't do it to yourself. I couldn't afford rose petals (At the end I HAD NO MONEY) and hated the idea of bubbles. But it was terrible I still have nightmares. It got stuck in my veil, went in my dress, got DH's tux all dirty....oh it was terrible, I can't even talk about it anymore.

THATCHED COTTAGE A +
The Thatched Cottage is gorgeous. From theoutside, you wouldn't think so, but on the inside, it is so elegant. It was the first (not only) place that we looked at. We had to book it. It is right on the water on 25A in Centerport. They only do one wedding at a time. Being on the water and in their gardens makes for some fantastic pictures. The cocktail hour is to die for and the cocktail room guarantees seating for everyone at your wedding. we had soo much food and people are still raving to us. The bridal attendent (of course I forget her name) was literally up my butt the whole night, giving me champagne, holding my train, helping my sister bustle me. The maitre'd was good too...they made a small boo boo, even though I spoke to them on several occasions about not using sesame oil (Best man was highly allergic) and they did anyone. He owned up to it and got the BM some food of his own. The food was to die for, that is simply it. I also liked the fact that they gave us a food tasting before we booked, I hear alot of places do not do that. ANDRE, he is a banquet manager, is simply awesome. When I went to make myfinal payment, he gave me some wine, helped me prepare everything I needed to prepare and just was awesome, I can't think of another way to put it. You may not hear Thatched Cottage's name thrown around like some other catering halls, but it is exquisite and it is totally your own on your day, no other brides or parties running around! One thing though, make sure to ask what they consider top shelf liquor, because I did not and was disappointed the day of. Loving my Greygoose, I found out the best they had was Absolut. DH loves his Johnny Walker Black, the best they had was red. So speak to them before, they are very accomadting! (made sure we had O'Doul's for my pregnant Matron of Honor)

Honeymoon: Excellence Resort, Rivera Maya A++++ I gotta show love to this awesome resort! Adults only, top shelf liquor, all suites, showers as big as your bathroom, bar service on the beach starting 9 AM, champagne and rose petals for newly weds upon your arrival. This place really lives up to its name and if you ar elooking into a honeymoon and dont have the time for Hawaii, go here! The staff is excellent, they knew our names and our drinks from the first night. The food is to die for! I am getting sad just thinking of it because I want to go back so bad!

I don't know what I forgot, I think I got everything. I used the halls place cards and made my own memory candle (well actually I framed the names of the people who it was in memory to and bought a cheap candle, the pics look great!) I hope you all find this review helpful! Let me know if you think I forgot anything or if you have any questions!

YAY!! Congrats looks like you had a FABULOUS time!!

I'm glad to hear that the Cottage only does one wedding at a time, when I valeted there they would do two depending on the size. I had a huge disagreement with the ownere over something that happened when I worked there thats the only reason we didn't look at them

Can't wait to see pics!!!
