My June 20th Wedding Review-update! Got my album! Review at end of thread!
My June 20th Wedding ReviewI have to say the day was wonderful. I was nervous leading up to the wedding, but the night before and the day of, I was cool as a cucumber. Now, I have to say, my vendors were wonderful, so here goes:
Mother Nature: The weather was perfect. 73 degrees, sunny and dry.
Favorite Things Invitations: Rebecca was wonderful. My husband and his father both have funky Polish letters in their names and Rebecca created these letters rather than charge us to order the font package. She helped me through the wording when my MIL didn’t like it and she was looking out for my best interest the whole way through. We used her for envelope printing too and they looked great. I loved working with her.
Follow Your Heart- Kathy was wonderful. I had been dealing with Rebecca at Favorite Things, but sadly Rebecca had to close her business when her daughter got sick. Rebecca referred me to Kathy and she was there for me in a pinch. She helped me choose a ring pillow, candles, and guest book when I was couldn’t decide and she was just really pleasant and supportive. I never got to meet her because my mom picked up the accessories, but my mom loved her too.
Flower Michele Florist- I had heard so many good things about John that I knew I had to meet him and the minute I walked in the door, I knew he was our florist. He does such amazing work and he really loves what he does. When I came in with my silver tiered trays and showed him a picture and asked if he could put an arrangement in the tiers, I thought he would laugh at me. Instead he ran with it and created a perfect Victorian centerpiece that fit the reception room perfectly. What a fun florist to work with. And I love the fact that he loves his LIW brides and lets us know it!!
Bridal Reflections- I knew I wanted my gown since the first day I saw it three years ago while I was helping a friend shop for her own gown. I wasn’t dating my husband at that time, but I knew that it would be my wedding gown. Bridal Reflections in Massapequa was wonderful to me. Laura helped me a lot when I was in and she sent me my fabric swatch and a “congratulations on choosing your wedding gown”card. Zizi was my seamstress and she was wonderful and reassuring. She made me look and feel great.
Men’s Warehouse- My husband wore tails with white tie and he looked so handsome. The guys wore a more traditional tux and straight ties and looked super too.
Commack Wedding Center- My bridesmaids wore a Jordan dress in the color pistachio and three out of four of the girls loved the dress price and the service at CWC. My maid of honor, though, was forced to order a size WAYYYYY to big for her and then they did a poor job altering it. They told three of the girls that they looked great in the dress and it was flattering to so many people, but they told my MOH that the dress is flattering on no one and they gave her an attitude. I guess it all depends on the personalities that are meeting.
Omnibus Fashions- my mom got her gown there for my brother’s wedding as well. She loves them. The dress was a Montage gown and she loved the gown, the way it was fitted, and the way she was treated. I went with her once and everyone there was sweet and helpful.
Adrienne’s Bridal- I know I lot of people have had their share of things to say about Adrienne’s and I must admit that they were a bit snobby, but they had the headpiece I wanted and I searched high and low and I really do believe it was made for them as they said it was. We ordered it, it came in. It was perfect. No problems.
Jillian from Gorgeous Faces-- What a sweetheart Jillian is. She is so friendly and fun and supportive. She made me look so great even my brother complimented me on my makeup. I had a natural look and I loved it!! I would use her again if I needed to get makeup done. I want to keep in touch with her, she is so much fun.
Linda Sharp-my hairdresser was wonderful and calm and so helpful when my tiara and veil comb didn't meet. She helped me cut the veil off the comb and sew it onto the tiara and then we cut it off after my first dance. She is my regular hairdresser and I knew she would make me look like me. I loved it!!
Lindt Chocolate: I was originally going to order there favors but they were a lot of money for a little chocolate so I got boxes elsewhere and bought big bags at the Lindt store in Smith Haven Mall. They were very helpful in making sure we got the most for our money and helped us choose which flavors were popular and would be good for a crowd.
Kate’s Paperie- I had help from a friend who is a graphic designer and she designed my favor tags, programs and cry packs. Kate’s had an amazing selection of papers and were very nice to deal with.
All Star Limo- The cars were impeccable. We got everywhere early. Not a problem at all. And I was so happy to have silver limos. They look so classy and elegant!
Pennylane Productions- Adam is such an amazing videographer. When my brother sent me to see him (they played in a band together at one point), I was wondering what he would be like and where my brother was sending me. Then I saw a demo and we were convinced. He is amazing. We haven’t seen our raw footage yet, but he was there all night and didn’t leave until the bitter end. I can’t wait to see what he got!
North Island Photography- Michael and Debbie have been so great to deal with. From the minute we walked into the studio, my husband and I knew we had met our photographers. Michael and Debbie have to be two of the most talented photographers I have ever met. They love what they do and it shows. When we met with Michael the first time, he spent two hours showing us albums, telling us about the angles he used and lenses and lighting he used to take certain pictures. He was excited and passionate about it to a point where you could see his eyes light up. And his praise of Debbie’s work, reassured me that they are both confident in their own work and each other’s and they don’t feel threatened or try to overshadow each other. Our proofs are amazing and wonderful and capture so many great moments. They were so much fun to work with! I can’t wait to work on our album with them!!
Peter Antel Band- My dad and Pete have worked together for many years and when the time came for me to get married, Dad naturally asked Pete to contract the band. We had a six piece band and it was great. They played all of the jazz standards I wanted, the Italian music I wanted and the dance music everyone else wanted. All of the musicians were great and had played with many big name society bands (Lester Lanin, Peter Duchin, etc.), but since Pete contracted them, it was like getting a society band at a fraction of the cost. I’m sorry, but I can’t share the price of the band, as it is WAY below what most of you would pay for six pieces because of the connections.
In and Out Travel- Dave helped us plan a great honeymoon in Italy. He put up with me asking a million questions and found us great hotels in Rome, Capri and Positano. Each city was more amazing than the last and it was the most enjoyable vacation I have ever had. If my husband and I could have stayed in Capri until the money ran out, we would have. And Dave was so awesome, he even called to follow up once we got back. He didn’t drop us once we paid, he saw us through.
St. Anne’s Church, Brentwood- This has been my parish all my life. I made all of my sacraments there and it was a perfect place to get married. The music was great, the priest was funny. No complaints.
Westbury Manor—WOW! What a place! I loved the old feeling the minute I stepped on a squeaky spot on the floor. It was amazing and wonderful. The food was superb. Raul and Lupita tended to us all night and Raul took on my request and brought me the most amazing iced cappuccinos all night. Lupita helped me bustle when my mom and bridesmaids couldn’t figure it out. The peacocks, ducks, parrots etc. were awesome. We had the Garden Room and the Library and it was perfect having the Library because our ringbearer passed out on one of the couches in there and it was also a great place for old friends and relatives to get away from the music and chat and catch up. Perfect!!
