My June 4, 2005 Review Carlyle now with honeymoon

Finally I had some time to sit and write it all down. Let me know if I forgot anything.

Bonwitt Inn, Commack: We had our engagement party there and the food was great along with the service. Nice atmosphere.

Proper Papers, Plainview: They were great. They let me take home the invitations that I liked so that I could show my mom and then the price was just right. Quick delivery.

Barron’s at Tri County, Levittown: I went there after numerous brides from this website had good things to say. I was having a hard time with the lengths of the veils. I had so much work on the back of my dress and I didn’t want to cover it up. Places were telling me if I got a short veil, it would be more for a communion and they wouldn’t do it. Barron’s measured it to where I wanted it and didn’t say a word. They were affordable and the veil was just how I wanted it.

Burton’s Bridal, Melville: I found my dress in a little shop in Huntington Village. I wanted extra beadwork on the train and the price was outrageous for both the dress and the extra work. I called Burton’s just to see what they could get the dress for after hearing about their prices and they actually saved me half of what the other shop was going to charge me including the bead work. Carol was awesome and I ordered all of the bridesmaid’s and flower girl dresses from them. They saved us a lot of money and the alterations were great. When I picked my dress up and got it home, I felt that it was too wrinkled so I called and they had me bring it right back and they steamed it for me again no problem. The dress was awesome and so were they.

Kardwell International, Mattituck: We ordered the personalized playing cards because we had sort of a casino theme (the tables were named after casinos). My aunt had once said we were “lucky in love” and when I saw that they had a playing card with this on it I thought it was so cute to get as a favor. Quick service and good prices. Something I’m sure at least some of our guests will use.

Personalized Playing Cards

Flowers by Burton’s, Melville: I had met with two other florists before going to them. The prices were so much cheaper. We only wanted yellow and ivory with green so it wasn’t too hard to decide. When I went to see my sample 2 days before the wedding I almost lost it. I had asked for calla lilies and although there were one or two, there were mostly roses. I didn’t want ANY roses. But Sue got right on the phone and called their distributor and found me alternate yellow flowers. She had them shipped in overnight and the centerpieces were just as I had asked. Small problem but they were definitely accommodating and they solved the problem. The bouquets were just as I had asked and they made the ceremony room look just like the picture I had given to them with the lights and tulle.

Sir Oliver Limousine, Sayville: After hearing raves about them we figured we would try them out. We had a large bridal party so we decided on the Hummer. They beat all the others with their prices. Since we were getting married at the hall we didn’t need it for 3 hours so they did a “pick drop” for us and it was great. The service was wonderful and the cars were clean as could be. My husband used them for the bachelor party and we used them for the airport trip to the honeymoon also. They are a vendor on this website. Highly recommend them

Craft Shoes, Commack: They were okay. I didn’t need them dyed or anything so I just got basic pumps. My bridesmaids wore silver so they didn’t need to use them for anything.

In the Mix DJ, Mineola: They were recommended by a friend’s mother. I met with Jack and I knew the company was the one for us. I hadn’t even met with any other DJ’s and I could care less how much they cost because I liked him so much. They weren’t expensive after speaking to others who have spent way more than what I paid. No lights or giveaways just straight music.

BTC Photography, East Northport: We wanted someone who worked for themselves, no company. We felt that there would be more of a personal experience that way. I met Bernadette and loved her instantly. Her work was awesome and she not only had posed but plenty of fun shots. I had my husband meet her and he loved her too. We met a few more times before the wedding and we stayed in contact via email prior to the wedding also. My proofs were done in 3 weeks and they came out beautifully. Everyone involved in the picture taking enjoyed her also. She did what she had to do and then let us have a good time the rest of the night while still getting the memories on film. She is a vendor on this website. Highly recommend them

Cactus Salon, Dix Hills: I had 5 of us go to this location for hair and 3 go to the Huntington location. 2 of my girls were really disappointed with the way their hair came out. They fixed it when we got to the hall and they looked beautiful. I loved mine. Corey was the one who did my hair. She did just what I asked. Trude did my makeup and she did such a great job. I don’t wear any makeup and she made it look like I had nothing on but I was “finished.” Just what I wanted. They opened both shops up at 7am for us. Very accommodating.

Café Giordano, Farmingdale: We needed a place close to the Huntington Hilton for the rehearsal dinner. I go to school at Farmingdale and I’ve always seen this restaurant crowded so I figured why not. It wasn’t the greatest but the price was right and we had a good time. It looks good but the food was ehhh and slow to come out.

Carlyle on the Green, Bethpage: I can’t say enough about it. We worked with Cynthia throughout the wedding planning and she was always there if I had a question. We had Cindy for the day of and Anne was my bridal attendant. The food was awesome, the staff were always helping and always keeping the glasses full and the place just looked amazing. I’m so glad we had it during the day because the windows made the ballroom sparkle. It was a beautiful day outside and the view was breathtaking. My guests keep saying it was one of the best places for a wedding and they can’t stop talking about the mashed potato bar. Now if only I had time to really take it all in. I’m waiting for someone to invite me to a wedding there so I can actually enjoy everything that my guests got to enjoy. Highly recommend them

My day was wonderful but it went by quick. All the months of planning and stress really do payoff though. FM me if you have any questions!

Re: My June 4, 2005 Review Carlyle

i forgot to put in our honeymoon

ADVENTURA SPA PALACE Mexico

We had an RCI there so the price was right. Food was so good and the service was 24 hours a day..you can get a filet at midnight if you wanted..AWESOME

There was a jacuzzi in every room and a hammock on every balcony.

There is no ocean to swim in but there is a manmade lagoon which has such beautiful fish.

Drinks were plentiful.

It's all adults which was honeymoon condusive and the people there were very friendly.

We went to XCARET, the 'zoo' that is about 20 minutes from the resort and it was a great day. Lots to do including an underground river to float in.

Bring sunscreen and bug spray.
