My long and overdue review of my April 14, 2007 wedding! Bridgeview Yacht Club, Twelfth Night Photography, FM Entertainment, In Sync Video, Royalty Limo, Royal Brass and much, much more!!!

FINALLY! BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!! It was just the most wonderful day any bride could have. My husband looked so handsome. It was exactly what I wanted. It was classy but a whole lot of fun. I didn’t want stiff and elegant- not that there is anything wrong with that but it just isn’t me.

My wedding was during the day. The ceremony started at 11:30 am and the reception immediately followed. A day wedding is much different then a night wedding because at night everyone is ready to party. During the day it is a little more reserved.......NOT AT THIS WEDDING! My vendors were fabulous, our families ate, drank and danced, and it continued on at the after party given by my father in law and stepmother in law.

Before I start with my actual vendors I just wanted to give a little high- five to FRANK’S STEAKS in Rockville Centre. Morty was very friendly and accommodated me in any way he could. He had four menu’s to choose from that would fit any budget. We had a fabulous rehearsal dinner in our own private room. It was very classy. The food is undescribably delicious! Everyone that was there could not stop raving about how wonderful the food was. Everything was out of this world. It just melted in your mouth. This is a fantastic place to have a rehearsal dinner.

OK- Onto the Wedding!!!!

I woke up at 4:30am which wasn’t very hard considering I didn’t sleep that night anyway. I had to be at the salon to get my hair done at 6am and the FG’s and mom’s were there at 7am.

SALON MONTAAGE A+
They were there and open, ready and waiting for us. They looked tired- I think we all did! It was really early. They also had coffee and bagels for us which was really thoughtful of them to do. Marie did my hair and two of my BP’s hair. She is a wiz with up do’s, half do’s, and any do’s that you need. Demetra did the FG’s hair, and Sue did the other half of my BP. It worked out great because when I was done I went home and everyone filtered in as they were finished.

JACQUELINE NICOLE A+
When I got home from the salon she was all set up and ready to go. She had to be one of the most nicest, sweetest people I know. She is extremely professional and very flexible. I felt very comfortable and relaxed while she was doing my make-up. I got gift certificates for the whole bridal party. Everyone’s makeup lasted all day long- especially mine! My makeup was on from 7:30 am until 3pm the next day. It looked like I just put it on. It lasted through dancing at the wedding and the after-party. DH and I crashed as soon as we hit our hotel room. We were so exhausted. Woke up, drove home, went to the diner to get some lunch, got home, and then took a shower. In between home and lunch we had to tackle the leaks in the roof and ceiling from the torrential rains. Through it all my makeup was perfect!

BRIDAL ELEGANCE A+
Phyllis is an absolute Godsend! I ordered my dress through her. It was a halter style top. In February I had to get some unexpected surgery on my neck area. I wasn’t able to go for a fitting until the beginning of March. When I put the dress on the halter strap sat right on the surgery site and it was painful. I couldn’t wear the dress. I was almost in tears because I had a little over one month before the wedding and no dress. Phyllis and my SIL searched the store and kept bringing me dress after dress to try on. She was very patient and kind and genuinely concerned for me. I finally found a dress. I did love it but it was a size 22. It also had spaghetti straps which showed both my new scars so she custom made the wrap that went around the top of the dress which hid the one in the back. I went to three fittings. Each fitting she took the dress in more and more. I am a street size nine-ten so you can imagine the alterations she had to do. She fixed the straps, hemmed the bottom, and made the train shorter. Then it was time for the bustle. Since my original dress had pick ups she made the back bustle into pick ups. I loved it! Phyllis is a phenomenal seamstress and a wonderful person. She really knows her stuff. Thanks Phyllis!

REV. VINCENT SICA A+
I had booked Rev. Sica through my former venue. I called him up and immediately I could tell he was very friendly and personable. We did everything over the phone and through mail. He made everything really simple and easy. We met him the day of the wedding and he was exactly like I pictured him to be. Extremely warm with a smile that spread from ear to ear. It was almost as though we knew him our entire life because we were so comfortable around him. The ceremony was beautiful and he did it so lovingly and professionally. It was serious and funny all in one. He applauded just as loud as any family member and was just as happy to see us married. He has a very dynamic personality and I will definitely be using him again when I renew my vows in 20 years!

TWELFTH NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY A+
I just joined LIW and kept hearing about 12th Night brides. What is a 12th Night bride? Well now I know. A 12th Night bride is a very happy bride! I made an appt. to meet with Dominick. They were the very first vendor I met with and I didn’t know what to expect. I walked into this warm and cozy studio and was greeted by Dominick who had a constant smile on his face. He told me about what they did, how they put things together and the packages they had. Then he showed me a sample of the DVD they make just for you, some photo albums and thank you cards. There was no pressure. Just comfortable conversation. You know that feeling you get in your chest when you know something is right? I got that feeling almost immediately. I knew I found my photographer and booked them right there on the spot. My first vendor! I loved them! I had Scott as my 8 hour photographer and Vanessa as my 5 hour photographer. I met with them and we went over the kind of pictures that were going to be taken, who family members were and what the pictures were that I must have. They both do incredible work. Each of them were on time the day of the wedding and were appropriately dressed. My pictures came out amazing! They were exactly what I wanted. Not too many posed pictures and not too many candid pictures. It was the perfect balance. I have to admit that I couldn’t shake the “must be on time” out of my head. We were on a very tight schedule. So, because of that, I was a little bit of a pain in Scotts behind. I feel bad about it too. He was concerned that I wasn’t going to have enough pictures. He wanted to make sure that he captured every moment of the day so that I wouldn’t be disappointed. I knew there was a reason I got such a great feeling about them! He in fact captured every moment and some of those moments I didn’t even know he was there! They were very unintrusive. I hadn’t noticed them the whole day and some of the pics they got were absolutely priceless. I have to admit that when I went to pick up my DVD and pay the final balance I was a little sad. I wasn’t going to see them anymore but then I realized...yes I am! I can hire Twelfth Night for every occasion in my life. Even if it’s just for a photo shoot like when we took our engagement pictures. There are going to be many happy occasions in my life and I plan on remembering them all with Twelfth Night Photography.

IN SYNC VIDEO PRODUCTIONS A+
I originally was not going to have a video. I looked into it and found that it was too expensive for my budget and for what I wanted. Then I started reading posts on how brides regretted not having a video and how they really wished they had. I knew I didn’t want to be one of those regretful brides so I started doing some research. I heard the same names over and over so I sent out emails. The next day I received many phone calls but the one person who stood out to me the most was Mark. I didn’t have to pull information from him. He did all the talking. He told me all about the company, how long they were in business and who worked there and what they did. He asked me what I wanted, what I was looking for and gave me some prices. I got a really warm feeling again, just like I did with my photographer, so I knew I had to meet with them. They are in Blue Point which is thirty to forty five minutes away but I didn’t mind. The area is beautiful. I met with Steve and he was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. He showed me some footage of wedding videos they took and I also watched the video from the wedding of the year. I really liked what I saw and I booked them right on the spot. About a month before the wedding I went to meet with Artie, my videographer. He was very personable and friendly and I had no doubt that he would do a fantastic job. He went over what he was going to be doing that day, if we wanted table interviews and who our family members were. He was extremely thorough. The day of the wedding he was on time and appropriately dressed. I remember seeing him when we got to the venue, at the ceremony, and occasionally during the reception. He was completely unintrusive. We really enjoyed working with them and I can’t wait to see how the video came out. I have no doubt in my mind that it will be exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a pleasurable and professional experience. Like I said, there will be many happy occasions in my life and if I need a videographer I definitely will be using In Sync Video.

FM ENTERTAINMENT A+
If any of you has ever been to a day wedding then you know how hard it is to get people up and dancing. That definitely was not the case for Frank. He was wonderful! I booked a showcase with him and brought along my husband. Frank’s energy hits you as soon as you open the door. He has a very dynamic personality. He is warm and friendly and gets you all pumped up and excited. He first told us about himself and his business. He went over prices and extras and all the things he had to offer. Then he did his showcase. The music was jamming and anything anyone requested he had in two seconds and played. He did the introduction and demonstrated how he would get people out on the floor. His energy was boundless and that’s exactly what I wanted. Another vendor booked on the spot! Frank looked very professional at the wedding. We gave him a list of all the songs we wanted him to play and also told him to play whatever he thought would get everyone up and dancing. He was perfect! The intro was great and he played every song we requested throughout the whole reception. People were constantly on the dance floor. He didn’t skip a beat! I am definitely going to use Frank again. I don’t think that there is anyone that can compare with FM Entertainment!

PEDESTALS FLORIST A+
I heard a lot about Pedestals so I decided to check them out and see what they were about. I met with Nadia and she was really nice and personable. I sat down with her and gave her pictures of exactly what I wanted. I originally was just having them do the bo-k’s and the bouts. Later on closer to the wedding I decided to add CP’s and an arch. Flowers are the most essential part of a wedding and needs to be checked on the most because when they deliver your flowers you can’t send them back. Everything was very beautiful. I loved my arch! I never saw something so amazing in my life. All those pink flowers! The arch really made the room light up. It was my favorite flower part of the wedding. After the ceremony the top of the arch came off and was placed on the sweetheart table making the table look phenomenal. My bo-k was beautiful. The Titanic rose was the perfect shade of pink. I would have liked more stephanotis like the picture I had given them. The BM’s bo-k’s were also beautiful. I remember her showing me a picture of a spray of flowers that she wanted to put into the bo-k’s. I told her that it looked purple to me and I hate purple. She assured me it was pink...it was purple. I had given her bo-k charms to wrap for each girl and myself. They did a beautiful job. Due to the way they were placed and the height they were placed at, you can see them in some of the pictures. I love being able to see Jiffy on my wedding day. Overall it was a good experience with just a few minor things that I would have preferred to change. The flowers were beautiful and so were my pictures.

ROYALTY LIMOUSINES A+
There was never going to be anyone else. I read one review of them on LIW and my mind was made up. I was using them for my limos and that was that. I went to choose the limos that I wanted, put down a deposit, and waited for them to show up on my wedding day. It was that simple. They were on time, professional, and well dressed. The limos were impeccably clean inside and out. My limo driver was extremely helpful to me and my family. He carried things to the car, made sure all of our dresses were inside the car and that we didn’t hit out heads. He was very friendly and let the FG’s, who had never been in a limo before, play with all the buttons. When we got to BVYC he helped us all out of the limo. When he went to take the FG’s out he lifted them high in the air like a little ride. They loved it! He even helped carry stuff upstairs to the suite. I thought they did a wonderful job and I will be using them in the future for any and all of my limo needs. I highly recommend them.

ROYAL BRASS A+
I decided that I would rather have a three piece band instead of having the DJ do the music. I mad an appointment and met with Rodger. He is just the loveliest person you will ever meet. We talked for a little while about his tremendous amount of experience. His staff, including himself, have been in the orchestra for many Broadway plays and off Broadway plays. They all have their degrees in music and love what they do. Rodger went over some of the music that I could choose from and played pieces for me. It was so soothing and inviting. I knew I made the perfect choice. When my father and I were waiting for our turn to walk down the isle all you could hear was the beautiful music of the cello, violin, and flute. It was perfection. It made my ceremony even more romantic then it already was. I couldn’t have made a better choice!

SWEET THINGS A+
When I was told that my cake was not included I had no idea where I was going to get one. Sweet Things was recommended to me so I gave them a call. It turned out that it was right around the corner from me in Oceanside. I first met with Brian and discussed the kind of cake I wanted. It was going to be a whipped cream on the outside with fresh flowers. A few months before the wedding I came across a picture of a cake that had little flowers all over it. It was so pretty and so spring like....I had to have it. I went back to the store and spoke with Eileen. She told me that it wouldn’t be a problem. Turns out that the cake was now a fondant and those flowers had to be dyed and precut. A lot more work than the first cake. Plus, the cake had a butterfly topper and I didn’t want that. She told me she would make flowers and to leave it up to her. She would take care of it. So, I left her with the picture and just waited until the wedding day. When I first saw that cake sitting there on the table I almost shed tears. It was more beautiful than I had ever imagined! The flowers on the cake and on the top were gorgeous. It truly was a magnificent cake...but how would it taste? Just let me say that when it came to this wedding it was “our wedding” but when it came to this cake it was “my cake.” When it was time to cut the cake I cringed a little as I had the knife in my hand. It was so pretty. I got to get fed the cake first. It was the yummiest cake of all the land! Seriously, it was delicious- very moist. We had vanilla cake with chocolate and white mousse. Everyone said the same thing- it was beautiful and delicious. Eileen did a fantastic job!

LIBERTY TRAVEL A+
I used to use LT in Garden City but then moved to Oceanside so we decided to go with the LT there. I first met with Christine on my own not really sure of where we wanted to go and how much to budget. We went over several places and I went home to discuss it with my husband. He was undecided as to where he wanted to go as well. She would call to check in on us to make sure we were on the right track. When DH decided where he wanted to go we told Christine and she booked it all for us. She was really great and knows her stuff. We spent two glorious weeks in the Riviera Maya, Mexico and it was one of the best times we had. If anyone is looking for a travel agent I suggest you see Christine.

THE BRIDGEVIEW YACHT CLUB A++
I had my reception hall already booked. Six months later we got invited to a wedding at the BVYC and really enjoyed it. Katherine gave me a folder with all the information in it and asked us to just look it over. The next day we did. We had such a great time at that wedding and the food was incredible. They make the best eggplant rolatini on the planet. After discussing it with my husband we decided to switch halls. I lost a substantial deposit on the previous hall but it was well worth it! It was quite easy to get in touch with Katherine and she answered every question I had. I didn’t think I would be one of those frazzled brides but I was and Katherine put my mind at ease. The day of the rehearsal I met Karen. She was my bridal attendant. She was in charge of everything. At the rehearsal she went through the entire ceremony and made sure that everyone knew what they were supposed to do. She was so thorough that I knew I had nothing to worry about. She made sure that the tables were set the way I had asked, the BP was where they were supposed to be, the flowers and arch were set up correctly- she was to be taking care of every detail of my day ...and she did a wonderful job! She did the bustle on my dress, made sure I got to eat some of that eggplant, and always had Coronas chilled and ready for us. I can’t say enough wonderful things about her. There was a bridal suite upstairs with a huge bathroom which brides need since they have such bulky dresses. The grounds are kept neat and clean. Upstairs, downstairs, out by the gazebo, and anywhere you go........all perfect for taking beautiful pictures. Our wedding was during the day and the sunlight just poured in through the windows. It bounced off the water and the natural light making the room and the atmosphere so warm and romantic. The pier and the gazebo were definitely selling points for us. There is nothing like it and our pictures came out perfect. Our ceremony was held in the first room facing the water. I loved looking through the arch at the Reverend and seeing the water behind him. The sunlight just poured in on us and made everything softer and more romantic feeling. Unfortunately we had guests that smoked but on the upside to that, they went outside and didn’t get to miss any part of the wedding because they could see in through the window and we could see them. I also liked that the bathrooms were inside to the reception hall instead of outside in the lobby like most places. I think it just makes it more convienient for the guest. Our Maitre’d was phenomenal. The food there is outrageous. Every dish is more delicious than the next....and don’t forget desert! We had mini pastry and chocolate covered strawberries. They were so yummy and we got to take the extras home. I wish I could do my wedding over again because I absolutely love the Bridgeview Yacht Club. I don’t know what our next event will be but if it requires renting a hall we are definitely going to come back. We had a wonderful time.
