My Review! 5/5/06: Crescent Beach Club + many LIW vendors!

I wasn’t going to do a review – but I learned so much from those that I read through my planning process, I feel obligated – and happy – to pass along my experiences. I found the majority of my vendors through LIW – so many may be of interest to you.

To start – our wedding was the most magical day ever - - - and we celebrated every minute of it! We danced, laughed and shared love with all of our guests – on one of the most spectacular days, weather-wise, you could ask for. I was a very laid-back bride all throughout the planning process – maintaining my opinion that it’s just a big party – and I’m very proud to say I kept that outlook throughout the entire day!

Mother Nature: A+++++++++++++
We could not have asked for more! 78 degrees while were taking our pictures (before the ceremony), and the most spectacular sunset you could ever imagine at the cocktail hour while we warmed up to party!

St. Dominic's: A+
Everyone there was lovely to work with. Having been a long-time parishioner and graduate, I never gave it a second thought. Although the priest forgot a particular aspect of our ceremony (he was supposed to announce that we were using my DH’s late-grandmother’s wedding band) – I didn’t let it bring us down.

Crescent Beach Club: A+ + + + + + + + + + + + + +
I grew up in the area, and I wanted to keep the reception close to the ceremony, and it had to be on the beach – so Crescent Club it was…….perhaps the best choice of our planning. Everyone there was spectacular! We worked with Denise throughout the planning process, and she was great – always kept us calm, and was ‘bend-over-backwards’ accommodating! For the reception, Campbell was my bridal attendant – and she was amazing! I didn’t even have to think about a thing – she was with me (not in an intrusive way) every minute of the night – whether to help me with bathroom breaks, or fix my bustle when the buttons broke, or just have a fresh drink (and gum) standing by at all times. She was tremendous!
Many of my guests have commented that it was one of the most elegant, classy (which was what I was going for!), and FUN weddings they’ve ever been to. Mission accomplished!

Planting Fields Arboretum: A+
I only had to speak with them a few times in processing my photography permit – but they were always lovely. The pictures will be amazing – I’m confident of that!

Limos - RJ's Exotic Limos: A+
They were wonderful – amazing price, great customer service, and clean cars. I worked with Joe during the planning – and he was great! He called me the day before and asked if I wanted a free upgrade because his other Hummer wasn’t going to be used the next night – so he gave it to us for the same price that we were paying for the Lincoln Town car. I didn’t need the Hummer – but it made my little brothers very happy!...and it was quite comfortable! The drivers were courteous – and they arrived about 15 minutes early.

Flowers - Flower Michele: A + + +
What’s there to say about John and his crew that hasn’t already been said on this site a million times over? John is amazing – and I loved every second of working with him! The flowers were spectacular….I particularly loved my bouquet!

Dress - Maggie Sottero from Lillette's: A +
I love Lillette’s!!!!! I worked with Gerri to select and order my gown, and Laura did my alterations. Top to bottom – it was a great experience for me. I very highly recommend going there!

Photo/Video - Duet: Day-of, A+
Love my proofs and they were the most amazing crew (led by Jay)! There were five of them – and they were everywhere! My guests kept joking about them – they looked like Hollywood paparazzi! They were never intrusive – and they were very responsive to our requests.

Hair - my hairdresser (Lisa): A + + +
She sooooo exceeded my expectations! As much as I loved my dress (and I did), my hair just thrilled me – it was so awesome. Still, as I show my pictures to people, their first comment is always on my hair. Lisa rocks!

Make-Up - Emily Rose: A
Emily was great – I just put myself in her hands and let her work her magic. Due to scheduling issues, she had to come to me on the early-side, and I think my make-up looked worn by 10pm or so (all the dancing and kissing didn’t help!). All in all, Emily was wonderful, and I’d very highly recommend her to other brides.

Tuxedos - RSVP Tuxedos in Commack: A+
Gene was wonderful to work with - and all the guys looked great. They even had the tuxes ready early - and on very short notice - when we had a death in the family that complicated the scheduled pick-up. Highly recommended!

MY DJ STUNK!
My only regret of the evening was my DJ selection (High Voltage)….and it’s a big regret! Everything was wonderful as we planned things in advance, but the day-of, it was horrendous (DJ was Matt)! They messed up the announcements, had horrible audio quality, had random feedback throughout the night, messed up the intro to our first dance, and played horrible music – even though I gave pretty good direction as to what type of music we wanted – including a must-play list that didn’t get played (I even burned him a CD with some obscure songs I was afraid he wouldn’t have……NEVER GOT PLAYED!)! It was horrible – and I was really upset because I was really confident in booking them. BIG REGRET!

Honeymoon - Kauai and Maui (Liberty Travel): A + + + + + + + +
I worked with Elissa at Liberty Travel in Melville – she was great – and I highly recommend her.

Kauai: Sheraton at Poipu Beach – it was amazing! We relaxed and pampered ourselves with great meals, and beautiful weather. The accommodations were tremendous, on the most beautiful beach in all of Kauai! Everyone there was specifically catering to the guests needs, from the housekeeping staff, to the activities staff. We did a lot of great stuff in our week there – specifically: helicopter ride (Blue Hawaiian), Na’Pali rafting tour….AMAZING! (Kauai Sea Tours), Sunset Dinner Cruise (Captain Andy’s), and the beachside luau at the Sheraton.

Maui: Resort Quest Ka’anappali Shores – amazing! I intentionally booked a condo on Maui because I wanted to save some money (instead of a ritzy full-service resort) and I’m glad we did. This was the second week of our two week vacation, and we were ready to take it down a notch and enjoy the comforts of having a full kitchen and laundry in the room. That said – we never relaxed for a second on Maui! Our best friends met us there – and we made tracks fast: day in Oahu seeing Pearl Harbor (Polynesian Tours) and other sights, Road to Hana, ATV tour exploring Mount Haleakala (Haleakala ATV), submarine tour (Atlantis), luau at the Sheraton, and a Big Island Volcano Tour (Safari Tours). Of our 6 days on Maui, we spent two of them traveling to other islands (Oahu and Big Island)……I’m sure glad we relaxed on Kauai!

WOW I am hearing more and more bad reviews about this DJ!! It is scary as they came so highly recomended and a lot of girls on here are using them. Sorry that they did not live up to your expectations, but am glad that you gave your other vendors rave reviews!

yes, someone posted about it on BHB and i guess it got pulled-- god forbid someone says that a vendor isn't doing their job the right way. so much for freedom of speech and giving your opinion to help future brides out. and it wasn't the first complaint on here i have seen about that company-- but it was the first that NAMED the company-- others asked for FMs. hmmm

but glad everything else turned out nice!!!

Thanks for the great review! Can't wait to see the pics...especially of your flowers from John since I'm using him as well. And so happy to hear of your good experience with Lillette's...that's where I got my gown as well.
