my review for 9-2-07 (finally) Larkfield Manor, SilverFox photography, High Voltage dj, Esquire tux, Sir Oliver Limo, flowers by Murphy & Company

I posted a review of Larkfield Manor right after the wedding cause I needed to Rave about them. that is included here but I have also added info on the other vendors and some pics -- all by Silverfox. If by chance they appear blurry, it's my PC and download dial up speed, not the photographer.

My day was incredible: perfect weather, not too hot, not too cold and NO RAIN; a beautiful ceremony at Maria Regina performed by the Pastor, Fr. Peter and followed by an unbelievable reception at Larkfield.

Larkfield Manor. A+++++
So here's what I think of that gorgeous place and it's wonderful staff and scrumptious food:

Can we give them a rating of 100 not just a tiny 10?
Larkfield Manor was just incredible. There are not enough words in the English language to describe how fantastic my wedding was in large part due to the location and especially the staff. George and Harry are the sweetest 2 guys and Marianne the banquet manager is so easy to deal with, a sweetie too.
They added in extras for us with us only asking would it be possible, could we have . . and sometimes they were just really really nice and Marianne threw something in because she thought it would be nice for us to have!
like the Ice Sculpture.
.

Frank was the Maitre d' and he was on top of everything the entire night. But the place is run so well that he didn't really need to be on top of everything - - or at least he made it look easy. I received comments from my guests complimenting the staff on the excellent service they received.
And the food. Again, the guests could not believe the amount of food at the cocktail hour. Passed hot hors d'oeuvres, chaffing dishes with beef, chicken, veal. baby lamb chops, stuffed loin of pork and those are what I remember.

Shell steak was 1 of the entree choices. DH and his brother wondered about not having steak knives but you did not need them. The steak was so tender the butter knife was fine to use. The servers then came around with trays of all the entrees for you to select seconds if you wished!. With such a huge CH a few guests requested their meals to go, they were so full and Larkfield gladly accommodated these people.

pic of the reception room before things started (I just like this pic so I'm throwing it in)

The wedding cake was delicious, dense yellow cake with butter cream icing. I was impressed on how they served the cake. Since I have not been to any recent weddings this might be a new thing but the cake was served to each guest on a plate accompanied by a slice of ice cream drizzled with sauce. All the weddings I have attended have given you a slice of cake on a plate, nothing more. Here you were presented with cake that was dressed up for the occasion, so to speak. We also hade Viennese trays of cookies, pastries on the tables and a chocolate fountain.

The staff also packaged up some meals and desserts for DH and I to enjoy later. Now these are NICE, thoughtful people running Larkfield. In fact since the wedding in the larger room was cancelled shortly before the date, they moved my cocktail hour to the larger room which had access to a larger outdoor area since it was such a beautiful day. They did this because it would be nice for me and DH on our day. Nice people to work with and that is important on your wedding day.
Before we left for our honeymoon, several people called to thank us for inviting them and saying it was the best, THE BEST wedding they have attended.
In large part this was due to the Larkfield Manor location and it's owners and staff.
They make you feel like they really want you to use their facilities and will help you make your wedding the best day. and this was especially nice since we had a small wedding with only 80 people but were never treated as if we were less important than large weddings

The grounds are lovely for pictures too.
.

SilverFox Photography. A+++++

loved the pictures. we had photog for entire day and then photojuornalistic one for 4 hrs for ceremony, getting ready and CH.

here are a few more that I especially like.

and he caught Jim's look as I entered the church

HIGH VOLTAGE dj A
Pete was the DJ who worked our wedding. His music was really good and everyone enjoyed themselves.
There was a bit of a mixup because Vinny the owner had been laid up with broken ankle and all that I communicated to him was NOT passed along to Pete so some songs were not played but they were few. The worst was Vinny did not let me know that he was not doing the job himself. I had spoken to him maybe Wednesday before and he felt confident he would be given doctor's OK to work. So I knew it was not 100% sure. but you would think when he was told no, he'd call and tell me Pete was coming so I'd have a chance to speak to him directly if I had wanted to. Vinny may have a good rep as DJ but his office side needs work.

Esquire Tuxedo (Merrick) A+++++

we dealt with Michael and he was a dream to deal with. He ordered a few different styles of tuxes so DH could see fit and comfort. We decided on a Jos Abboud 120 weight since it was lighter wool and while a bit fitted not too much so, so DH would be comfry. Since Michael had to order this from another shop and I expresses concerns about this and not having time to correct problems if they happen, he arranged for it to be in his shop by Wednesday before so there would be ample time to reorder if needed. He also matched any price we found elsewhere without any hesitation.
hope this pic shows his tux off well!

Sir Oliver limos A+++++

We hired the 1940 Caddy . The driver came on time, the limo was immaculate. The driver was very pleasant, polite and professional.
We were very pleased with their service. We also felt that the prices were reasonable compared to other companies.

Murphy & Company florist (Locust Valley)

the flowers were gorgeous. the guests couldn't get over the look of the reception room with the high and low centerpieces. My BO-K is just what I wanted.

We had John, the owner, and Ted as photojournalist. there are a few more pics in my albums if you want to check those to see more of their work.

Both were wonderful and you barely noticed they were there.

thank you for your wishes . so far things have been GREAT - - except for dental work we both have recently had to endure.
