MY VERY LATE JUNE 13TH WEDDING REVIEW!! WITH PICS
Hi everyone. I can't believe that it took this long to post my review. After getting home from the honeymoon there was so many things to do which included furnishing an apartment from the bare minimum. Anyway, my day was perfect. It is amazing to see everthing come together after so many months of planning and go just the way you planned without a hitch.Mother nature: A+++++
Crystal clear and sunny. Mid 70's.
Dress: Davids Bridal - A+
I have to say, I have read some horror stories about this place but I have to say that I had nothing but a pleasant experience. My dress (which I absolutely loved) came in within 3 weeks. The woman that helped me (Maria) everytime I went in there was nothing but enthusiatic and helpful. However, I didn't get my dress altered there.
Bridemaid dresses - Bridal Suite of Bay Shore - B-
The dresses came in the wrong color 3 weeks before the wedding and then were delayed in customs and didn't come in until 4 days before the wedding. I almost had to use the original dresses that came in. Gina was very nice and sympathetic. She agreed that the dresses were like 6 shades darker than the seafoam I ordered. The dresses were by Jordan. But Bay shore bridal did all the alterations for 7 girls right away and some girls didn't come in until Saturday. I got married on Sunday.
Alterations: Rosa (family friend) A++
She went above and beyond the call of duty. She could have altered my dress the easier way but she choose to do it the hard, long and correct way. She took all the aplicas off at the bottom and lifted it up 1/2 an inch. Yes, if I bought higher heals I wouldn't have needed a hem. She also took in the sides a very difficult way and then added Swarofsky crystals for some added shine.
Veil and tiarra - Barrons A+
I loved my tiarra and I was able to get a custom length for my veil since I didn't want it all the way to my fingertips, but I didn't want it shoulder length.
Makeup - Joanie - Clinique (Macy's Bay Shore)
A+++++
She was great. She came to my house and did mine and my mother's makeup. It stayed on all day and she left me with lipstick and lipliner for the rest of the day. She is a sweetheart and very reasonable.
Hair - Linda - Salon De Cara (Deer Park) A++
She did my hair and one of my bridesmaid's hair. She did a great job and it stayed in all day and night. It looked the same at 1 AM as it did at 9AM. It looked great through the veil.
Shoes - Sandy's shoe A+
I bought ballet slippers thinking that I was going to have to change during the reception and then I realized that the wedding was over and I didn't even think about my feet.
Majestic Gardens - A++++
What can I say. John is a doll. He was very helpful and accomodating on every detail. The outdoor grounds and foundtain for the coctail hour were breathtaking. That is what sold me on this place. Everyone that walked back there made a comment. We had food inside and out. The glass atrium is unbelievable. The food was out of this world. Really, that is all I heard during and after the wedding and still hearing. They also offered seconds, that some of the men took them up on. Hey, wouldn't you get 2 filet mignons if you could? Jessica, my brial attendant literally was my shadow. She actually scrubbed my dress with wipes to get the black tire marks off it from the limo. And she got it all off and there was quite a bit. There was a little bit of confusion on 1 table setting. I think someone got the numbers wrong when setting, but I didn't find out until later and also there was 1 table that didn't get any favors which I didn't find out until after I got back from my honeymoon. Really not a big deal. They also packed up all the leftover cocktail hour food to me and hubby to take home (which of course, my father got since we left the next morning for Aruba)>
Steel pan - Island Boys - A+
Will was very easy to get in touch with and called me back right away everytime I called. We never met which of course made me a little nervous, but I could tell he was very professional and busy. I actually still haven't met him because I was taking pictures the whole time during the cocktail hour but I was outside on the grounds so I could see everyone which was nice. I contracted 1 steel pan player and 2 showed up, so I got more for my money than expected and it was such a nice touch to the outdoor cocktail hour.
Video - Dance Jock Productions - A+
I got the video through my DJ which is probably not the norm, but when I saw a sample I loved it. It was so high tech and classy. It was slightly more expensive than prices I was getting, but you get what you pay for. I never knew the videographer and his assistant were even there. I got my raw video so far and I didn't want it to end. It is so worth the money for a video.
DJ - Dance Jock - A++++
Of course, I worried about the music of the wedding the most because I know it can make or break the reception. I was referred to them from a friend off a friend who went to a wedding they did. As soon as I met with Pam and heard her talk about the style of DJing they use, I know it was for me. I didn't want an MC getting crazy on the floor dancing with everyone and she said that before I asked. When I tell you that at 10:59PM there was still a full dancefloor. I didn't even want to say my goodbye's to people that were leaving because the songs were still so good, I wanted to get back on the dance floor. It was killing me. Roy was the MC. Very low key. I can't remember the actuall DJ's name but he was excellent. Roy sang a song during dinner that was wonderfull. You didn't even know he was singing.
Photograher - Jessica Photography - A+
Jack, the owner is very friendly and easy to get in touch with. I had George as my photographer. He was very nice as was his assistant. He was full of compliments and kept everything moving. He also let me know that all the places I planned to take pictures might make for a time restraint, so I nixted the Arboretum and just went to Hecksher. Majestic Gardens has a beautiful garden and that worked out just fine. I got my proofs back in 2 weeks and have already written out all of my thank yous. There were of course some pictures that I wish I would have remember to ask to take like a solo pictures of me and each bridesmaid and table shots. Also the only picture he took of just me and one of my brothers, he had his eyes closed and there are no more to choose from. Also, he had me stand in front of the limo and motioned for me to go right in front of the tire. I don't want to say what my dress looked liked after it rubbed all against the tire which didn't even dawn on me until it was to later. But all and all everything came out great.
Flowers - Steven Alexander (Copaigue)- C-
I have to say that this was the only vendor that I had complete faith in. I met with Rich who has been doing flowers all his life and I thought he was part owner. He was very enthusiatic and seemed very proud of his work. I really felt like since he took so much pride in his work that everything would turn out just as I had planned. I met with him 3 times. Once originally, when we booked him on the spot, 2nd. when we actually picked exact flowers and colors. Then another meeting with him like a week before the wedding when I actually made some slight changes to my BO-K and my maid of honors. We specifically went over the table flowers and what colors I wanted. Never metioned yellow roses. All I wanted was fushia, pinks, lavendars and cream roses. I even saw what it would look like with the pedastals. I wanted a tight arrangement with nothing sicking up and out. No stock and fillers. My personals were great They arrived right on time with no problems. The colors looked great against the seafoam dresses. When I walked into the reception to be announced my first reaction was whose flowers are on the tables. Not mine. I saw yellow everywhere. Stock sticking out in points which took away the tight round appearance. A lot of green in between roses. I was supposed to have 9 high and 9 low arrangements. (the higher are more expensive). I had 10 low and 8 high. My cake had yellow petals everywhere. They overtook the pink, fushia colors. The dias had yellow petals all across it was a splash of fushia. I have to say it did cause me a little dismay during the reception because I kept seeing yellow. I hate yellow. Everyone complimented the arrangements, yes they were beautiful but not what I wanted or paid for. I called them from the airport the next morning to find out that Rich was let go like 3 days before my wedding. WHAT???? Someone could have called me and went over exactly what I wanted instead of reading off a piece of paper that probably had most of the ideas in Rich's head. Plus I told them that I was short 1 pedestal and they swore that they brought 9 high and 9 low. I counted twice during the reception and I wasn't drinking. Oh well. Once I got on the plane I let it go. But it still bothers me especially since I just saw a good shot of the flowers someone took at the wedding and I got another good look.
Limos - Somerset Limos - A++++
I got 2 cadillac limos. John was our driver. Very clean cut and all american looking. they arrived on time and were spotless. I can't remember the other drivers name. He was a little less personable. We also used them the next day for pick up and also after the honeymoon. they arrived on time. the next day pickup, they also sent a cadillac limo which surprised me, I was expecting a town car. Best price around.
Rehersal dinner: Irish coffe Pub - A+
Our room was a little small but the food was great.
Deacon Joe - Family friend - A++++
It is nice to personally know who marries you, it adds a touch of personalization.
Honeymoon - ArubaA++++++++++
If you like the Carribean and you like to gamble or just relax and be in paradise, this is your place. We stayed at Playa Linda which is a time share that we booked through Liberty. I wanted a kitchen and living room since we stayed for almost 2 weeks. The lobsters in the carribean are double the size in meat as ours. I had like a 7lb lobster. Me and hubby couldn't finish 1 lobster. Can you imagine. We gambled every nite and went to the beach every day. Heaven pure Heaven.
If you haven't fallen asleep by now, I just want to say that this website helped me tremendously and thank you to everyone for their help.
I am posting pictures which I have never done before so I hope it works.

Beautiful!!! Looks like you had an amazing time.It's such a small world...I used to work with Joni in the Jr's dept of Macy's. The year before I left she moved over to the clinique counter and has now been there 7 years. She is doing my make up too.
