My Wedding Reveiw and Pictures
I don’t post much but I just want to say thank you to all you girls who gave me loads of ideas and help with planning my wedding. My wedding went great and I used many of the ideas that I saw from past brides and future brides. I will do a short review because so many of the past reviews helped me choose my vendors and I would have not booked any of them if not for this website so Thank You All!!!!!My wedding day April 21st…the weather was nice just a bit windy but I was glad the rain held off until Saturday and since I didn’t plan much outside it really didn’t matter.
Dress- David’s Bridal (Westbury) I bought my dress here b/c I won a 500 gift certificate at a bridal show and I felt guilty letting it go to waste. I bought one dress first and then ending up not loving it and they allowed me to exchange and pay the difference. I did not use them for alterations.
Girl’s dresses-Barrons. We tried the dresses on at Bridal Reflections but Barrons had them for $40 less. Some girls had their alterations there and there were a few problems but nothing that wasn’t fixable.
Tuxes- Bonaventure in Garden City. We got a great deal here. We got 9 tuxes but only had to pay for 6. We had lots of OOT guys but they do alterations right on the premise so all the guys picked up the tuxes the day before and things worked out fine.
Jewelry- Swarovski (Roosevelt Field) and my earrings my new husband bought for me the day of my shower. I loved loved loved my necklace. It made me feel like Cinderella.
Tiara and Veil- Barrons Tri-County. I loved both and they were really great. My veil was very plain b/c my dress had so much detail.
Make-up I used Anne Demarco and I highly recommend her. She works out of Woodbury Commons and Greenvale. She was pricy but well worth it. She made everybody look fabulous!!!! My makeup stayed perfect all day and I even left my false eyelashes on the next day!!!
Hair- I used my regular hair girl Jessica who works out of a salon in Mineola. She does fabulous work and made me and my girls hair look great. Her prices were great and the best part about her is she works fast. She does not take too long to do updos.
Rehearsal Dinner:
Runyon’s in East Meadow. They did a great job and the food was really good. They give you a tax discount if you pay cash and their prices are very reasonable. They print out menus for the guests and gave me and my husband our meals free.
Grooms Cake- Dortonis Bakery in Levittown. The cake was great and it was delicious. It cost me 175 which I thought was a decent price.
Favors- I did a donation to the humane Society and The Heart Association but I still wanted to give my guest something. I had black/white cookies made up with our initials. They went over well. I used Dortonis for this also and I would definitely recommend them.
Signature Drink-This went over so well that I was very surprised. My husband is Black and I am Irish and Puerto Rican so we did the ROCK’NJENTINI (his nickname is Rocky and my name is Jen). It was a white chocolate martini. People were drinking them all night. They were passed out at the cocktail hour and then tent cards were placed at the bars for the reception.
Candy Buffet-This also went over well except some people were quite greedy. I got most of my candy from economycandy.com and oriental trading. I bought the jars online and some in Target and Walmart. I used plain waxy bags and ordered labels from the knot.
Hotel-The Wingate the night before and the weekend. I reserved the bridal suite and it was really gorgeous. Pricey but worth it. Lots of room for the girls, hair girl and makeup. The bathroom was very spacious so that was a plus. They were very helpful. The only thing is that we were supposed to have champagne and chocolates when we returned and we had to ask for them. They also did not pass out my OOT bags to the guest that stayed there.
Blocked Rooms-Holiday Inn Carle Place. They were great. Most of my guest stayed here and they said it was fine. They passed out all my OOT bags even though some people weren’t booked through my block. They put up a sign with our last names so people would know to ask for a bag which I thought was very nice.
Limos-Royalty They were on-time, clean and the drivers knew where they were going. What more could you ask for. We had the Daimler and the 18 passenger excursion.
Flowers-Barrons They did a great job. I loved my bouquet and my centerpieces. All the flowers were beautiful and they stayed alive for a full week. They did forget a boutonnière but I was able to use the extra they sent for my husband by pulling apart the ivory rose from it.
Photo/Video-Duet. I haven’t seen my proofs but all I can say is everybody loved them. They were personable, funny and just were able to make everyone feel comfortable. I had Woo’s team and I loved Woo!!!! He really was great.
DJ-Spin Around Sounds I can’t say enough about them. They did my sister’s wedding in November and I loved them but they exceeded all expectations for me. They stuck to my play list but didn’t hesitate to throw something in that they knew the crowd would respond to. I loved that!! The dance floor was packed at all times and I never felt like I had to ask them to play anything from my list.
Ceremony- Saint Marthas Church in Uniondale. This was my church growing up and I was very excited to be getting married there. I was so lucky that the flowers were up after Easter b/c it was filled with flowers in great spring colors and it looked absolutlet gorgeous. The Deacon that married us (Deacon Trevor) was wonderful and made everything easy to plan.
Chateau Briand- They did a fantastic job. Everything was wonderful. My matre’d Elmer was always around. He switched sitting at the last minute and just made everything run smooth. My bridal attendants Lilly and Elizabeth, were always there with food, drinks and one even sewed my bustle when someone stepped on it and ripped it. I had to tell them to relax b/c they were working so hard!! Chateau Briand also allowed us to come in several times to practice our first dance which I thought was nice and it gave us an opportunity to get comfortable with the room.
Metropolitan Dance- Our first dance lessons with Mike were really worth it. We did 4 lessons but finished in 2.5 so we were able to learn the hustle. Our first dance went great and everyone said they loved it!
I think that is it for now….here are the links to some of my pictures of the rehearsal dinner and the wedding….
