My Wedding Review: East Wind Estate, Absolute Entertainment, Patken Photography, Flowers by Rori, Sir Oliver Limousine, Babford Productions...PROFESSIONAL PROOFS IN ALBUM
This review is a long time coming; it’s my fault for taking so long to get the proofs, so here it goes! I didn’t post tons on the board, but I was online everyday reading. I learned tons from the website, but the most important thing was to have fun with the day, and create whatever I could imagine, and I did. I had the best day I could have ever imagined. So here it goes….Bridesmaid Luncheon: A
We had a luncheon at my mom’s house (A+++++ to my mom!!!). I gave them their gifts and we all headed to the Nail Salon, Clover Nails in East Quogue that was my real gift to them. We all got manicures and pedicures. They shut down the salon for us and we brought in cake and ice tea and had a little party. It was nice because since it was raining all weekend, it was nice to get out but still not get wet. Clover Nails was AWESOME!! A great place to have a little party for the girls!
The Weather: A
The reason it was an A, was because when it came down to it, I just really didn’t care. There were some pictures I would have like to have gotten, but I was okay. It POURED; it rained so hard that day. But it let up a little bit for us to get a few pictures after the ceremony.
Rings: A
We got our rings from the Irish Store in Hampton Bays. We wanted our rings to be Irish because Ryan proposed to me in Ireland, and we’re both Irish. They were very helpful and we got our rings very quickly. This is good because I almost forgot!
My Dress: A
We got my dress from Adrienne’s Bridal in Islip. I know they get bad reviews but I had a great experience with them. My dress was Private Label, Signature by G. I loved my dress. They were so sweet when helping my find my dress and every time I called they were very helpful.
My Mom’s Dress: A
My mom got her gorgeous dress from Angel’s in Islip. Also, a great store with such lovely ladies running it. I knew it was her dress the moment I saw it on her, and she loved it. They were great with setting up appointments and we got a great price.
Bridesmaid Dresses: B
We bought our dresses from Phyllis at Gownfind. The dress was 966 from Bill Levkoff. Since we were going with a film theme I had all the ladies in all black…looked beautiful!!! Ordering the dresses was great from Phyllis. There were some problems with the alterations. But my bridesmaids are so wonderful it was all good.
Flower Girl Dresses: C
I love the dresses and we ordered them from Phyllis. The problem was I ordered them even before the bridesmaid dresses and I was told every week they were in the mail. I ended up having to go to Phyllis’s which is over an hour away from me, four days before my wedding to finally pick them up, with no time for alterations. I know it was really stressful for me that week, I’m over it now, but it was a real bummer.
Tuxedo’s: A
My DH, Dad and Groomsmen and Ring Bearers all got their tuxes from Rico’s in Center Moriches. They looked Hot! They got tails and it was perfect, everyone picked them up and eventually had the right sizes. (They did give my Dad the wrong tux and first and another Groomsmen’s Tux). But overall they were great. And also I had a bridesmaid coming in from Montana three days before the wedding and they altered her dress beautifully for me…much closer than Gownfind!
Makeup: A++++
My cousin Lisha, she was 7 months pregnant and doing my and my mother’s makeup. She was awesome!!!
Hair: A+
I had my hair done by Tracy at Salon East in Hampton Bays. I always go to her and she is out of this world. They opened the Salon (It’s for a fee but it’s worth it) Sunday morning for us and we all gathered to have our hair done. They did 8 women so they had a lot to do between the two of them. I loved my hair!
Flowers: A+
Flowers by Rori. This shop is in Quogue. Rori is the owner and is phenomenal!!!! I loooved my bouquet. All of the Bridesmaids bouquets were gorgeous with their dresses. She helped me so much in planning. I really am not a huge fan of red roses. But because the theme of our wedding was film, I though red roses are always portrayed in the old time movies…but she thought if we added pink (which I love), and crème hydrangeas (which are my favorite), that it would look beautiful. And she was right! She brought in what I thought would match the theme and what I loved. My Aunt made my flower girl basket, and Rori filled it beautifully, and made these quaint little bouquets that matched the Bridesmaids with miniature roses for my little flower girls. Rori is so amazing to work with and her work is out of this world!
Photography: A+
Jesse at Patken Photography. She was sooo amazing. I went to three different photography studios, and Patken seemed the most honest and upfront to me. I think pricing is crazy still, but they were competitive, and that’s just market. She was like the director to my movie. (We had a film theme for the day.) She took control once she got to our house. We had a huge Bridal Party (10 bridesmaids, 10 groomsmen, 4 junior groomsmen, 2 ring bearers and 3 flower girls), so she had her work cut out for her. She was gathered, organized and got all our pictures done. I had been a pretty laid back Bride, but there was one point when I looked down while we were still at my house and there was a weird looking black mark about as big as my forearm on my dress. I thought I was going to cry and she walked over to me and calmed me down, saying even if anyone can see it, no one will remember because she’ll take it out of the pictures…and she did! She was amazing, everyone loved her, and everyone still talks about how great she way. Jesse gets an A+++ I loved my proofs! One piece of advice I would do is write down the pictures you want, and just incase it rains, make a list for that, I didn’t and all the pictures I wanted were outside at my Grandmother’s house and we couldn’t do it because of all the rain.
Videography: A
Fred Ford of Babford Productions. I don’t have my final edit yet so I don’t know. Very nice man, FM me if you his contact info. I had a little bit of a time getting a hold of him to initially get him for us to do it, but then it was good. I have full confidence in the final video. I’m just disappointed that there were no interviews done during the wedding. Just be sure if you want them done (I had people who really wanted them), TELL YOUR VIDEOGRAPHER. Just to be sure.
Ceremony: A
It was at our church so I can’t really grade it. Our Pastor was phenomenal! He even put in the film theme and talked about some movies during his sermon. Awesome! I loved my ceremony, I was soooo happy to finally be marrying the man of my dreams, and I was sooo happy. I still get butterflies thinking about every moment. That’s a piece of advice I’d give. Take in everything. It goes by so fast, take it ALL in!
Limo’s: B
Sir Oliver. They were great as far as the limos were concerned. The drivers were fabulous; the limos were so cool. We had too Expeditions, Rolls Royce and a 6 passenger for our parents. The only thing I had with them is I called to get the total balance (wanted to be sure what I had on my contract was it because it had to be in cash). So I got it and my DH got the money out of the bank. Since our wedding was on Sunday he had to get it all the day before. So I’m at the rehearsal and I get a call on my cell phone from Sir Oliver. They just wanted to make sure I had the money and everything was all set. So they gave me the balance, $320 more than what they told me that week!!! I started panicking, how could that be possible. I soo did not want to tell my DH because he was under enough stress. But I had to. What happened was they couldn’t fit all the limos on one contract so they put it on the next page and didn’t tell me, and it had to be in cash. I had to tell my DH because I didn’t have that kind of cash, so he eventually worked it out, just unnecessary stress at our rehearsal and into our rehearsal dinner.
DJ: A++++++++++++++++++
Absolute Entertainment. Our FAVORITE vendor! We had Kevin with Absolute Entertainment, BEST DECISION (accept of course for me marrying the man of my dreams). I can’t really say enough about them. They took our theme to the next level. We had each of our tables the title of a movie, so he had us gather as many movies as possible from the tables, and pick out songs for tables. He then played the music videos while he played the song. For example: One table was called “Titanic” when he played “My Heart Will Go On” he did a shout out to the table and the music video was playing. We got 3 plasma screen TV’s…so awesome! We used a cocktail our band, from 70’s Experience. I didn’t really get to hear them, but I heard they were great. During dinner we had a singer, everyone still is talking about how beautiful her voice was. Our dance floor was always packed. I’m not a big dancer, but I rarely left the dance floor. It was so much fun. Kevin from Absolute DJ is the BEST!!! I want to use him for my DH’s 30th Birthday…for my kids parties (when I have them), whenever I can!!!!
Reception: A+
The Estate at East Wind. Joyce was our Maitre’d and she was out of this world. She kept things going, she worked wonderfully with Kevin (our MC), and she had the best attitude. I believe she’s one of those people that I think totally goes unnoticed, she does so much and you can’t even see all the things she’s done. She’s great! The staff was great everything was wonderful.
I had sooo much fun planning our wedding. My mom and I did it so much that we’re really missing it now! I was so excited once we picked a theme and we just went with it. We tried to make the wedding as personal as possible and as fun. I hope it was as unforgettable for our guests as it was for us. I am sooo thankful to my mom and dad for giving us the best wedding ever imagined. I am so thankful for the most amazing husband. I am truly blessed with marrying into such a wonderful family, I love married life!!!
