My Wonderful 5/5/07 Wedding at the Old Field Club, with Christina Bohn, Nicole D'Angio, Jennifer Ann Cosmetics, Sugar Magnolias and More

Wow. I can't believe that our Wedding is over! I feel like it's yesterday, actually, I still feel like it could be today :). And writing this review is bitter sweet.

We had a fantastic time at our wedding and it will go down as one of the best days of my life. My husband and I are thrilled with how the day went. I hope to remember all of the vendors we used and will augment as time goes on if there's something I forgot :)

Mother Nature A++
We got a great day. It was sunny and warm, in the mid 60s. There was not a cloud in the sky. I could not believe it. It did cloud over for the ceremony, but actually that's better for the photos. Given that april was so rainy and cold, we were seriously freaking out up until the week before the Wedding when everything magicly cleared up. Thank you mother nature, we will always recycle from now on!

Old Field Club A+++
Tom, our Maitre'D, and his staff came through for us in Spades. There were nice little extra touches, everywhere. Thefood was excellent, everyone was impressed. We brought photos of family members' weddings, that we had asked to be put out on the mantle, and he even hung some of the older ones (from the early 1900's) up on the wall in the cocktail hour room (I'm assuming replacing paintings that hung there). I was so impressed.

Many people came to us and told us it was the nicest wedding reception they had ever been to. Everyone raved about the venue. Tom made sure we were taken care of every step of the way. He even put up with my crazy family and a rehersal. He answered all of my phone calls. He is a complete professional.

Everything ran completely smoothly. I did not worry about a THING.

Photographer - Christina Bohn A+++
Christina is fantastic, she just went so above and beyond. I'm floored. (haven't seen proofs yet, but I know they'll be fantastic)
We decided to get ready and dressed at Christina's studio, because it was prettier than the Room in the Old Field Club. She cleaned up the studio and moved all of the Wedding Pictures off of the walls so that there were no other wedding photographs in our Photos of getting ready. The shots of us getting ready will be just stunning...As I'm sure the shots of our wedding will be. She was so quick on the draw, we had lots of time to shoot portraits (before the Ceremony) and she was on top of just every little thing that happened, shooting away. I just loved her. I can not wait to see the proofs.

Hair - Nicole D'Angio A+++
Nicole did an amazing job. Hands down, just blew me away. First of all she did a beautiful job working with my Mother, Sister and Mother in Law. They are all very plain, not fashion conscious, and their styles are very simple and understated. She did a great job working with them to bring out elegant styles for them that worked with their own aesthetic, and my mother in law especially had a BLAST. She looked and felt so beautiful. Everyone RAVED about their hair.

My hair :)
WOW, one word, wow, we had picked a style previously, and changed it up on the wedding day, she made my hair, so simple, elegant and beautiful and stunning, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY. She completely out did herself and I'm so thankful to her for it. I felt gorgeous the whole day, which added in spades to the enjoyment of my wedding day.


Makeup - Jennifer Ann Cosmetics A+++
Recommendation from Nicole, Jennifer ann did another fabulous job. Everyone looked beautiful and natural, and again my family who does not wear makup felt really great. She took great care of my mother who has an allergy to red dye on her eyelids. She did a fabulous job on me, and on my sister. We looked and felt great, she was an excellent compliment to Nicoles stylings, and super fun and easy to work with.

Flowers - Heidi at Sugar Magnoilas A+++
WOW. I knew Heidi's work was beautiful. She's supposedly a little pricey, but honestly I found her prices more than fair. The arrangements were unique, stunning, excellently executed, her color sense is fabulous, she worked my color scheeme and the general feel of the Old Field Club into all the arrangements, and they just made the room so gorgeous. Our bouquets were also stunning. Everyone loved the flowers, If I could have I would have taken every last arrangement home with me.

Her staff did a beautiful job setting up our ceremony site, and even decorating our table, and the cake.

I can't say enough about her work, she was worth every penny.


DJ - A Starry Night A++
Gabriella did a great job with a rough crowd. She played everything we asked for and was easy to work with. She was also able to move things around for us on the fly, the best man's speach involved mention of the song, 'And I Ran' by Flock of Seagulls, and she turned it into a packed dance floor of 80s alt rock that kept my friends bouncing and moving.


Officiant - Judge William Corbett A
Judge Corbett did a really nice job, we chose the ceremony and he followed it to the letter. We could have customized it more, but we decided to play it safe for 'ease of use' on the wedding day. We received many comments about what a beautiful job he did of making a civil ceremony meaningful and emotional.


Klienfelds Sales C- (Bridal Gown)
I wasn't a big budget bride and the sales woman at Kleinfelds was happy to let me know it by rushing me out of there in a hurry on my first trip. I know they had dresses there in my price range. Unfortunatly, the dress I fell in love with was there, so I trudged back, bit my tounge and bought it. I wish I had gone to the Bridal Garden first, I found TONS of dresses there that I loved after the fact and almost bought a second dress. I regret that the salesperson who worked with me at Kleinfelds got my commission.

Klienfelds Alterations: B+/A-
I'm on the fence here, the alterations went well, although I had very few of them. I found out that you can get an alteration discount, which would have cost me HALF of what I paid, after the fact (that was a sales person, manager thing). If this is your shop, be sure to ask about it. I was also told by sales that alterations included everything, but when in alterations, I was charged $15 for the cups. Now, compared to the amount I paid on the dress it's nothing, but for the price of the alterations....give me a break. The woman altering my dress was very sweet, did a beautiful job, and even put some velcro to hold up my spanx in, which for the price I paid and the small amount of alterations we did seemed fair.

I always had to wait there. I have a busy job which made getting there hard and waiting 20 minutes or more for each fitting really annoying. There seemed to be no reason for it, and it was consistent. I Waited over an hour to get my dress when I went to pick it up, the actual picking up of the dress took maybe 20 minutes.

Shoes - My Glass Slipper A-
They had a return policy I had failed to notice of 14 days. I called them up 2 months into it and was able to exhange shoes for a larger size. Note to all Grace Shoes run small. That said, they are not the cheapest. I found the same shoes for $5 less at Klienfelds (again after the fact) and would have had no shipping charges.


Hair Jewelry: The Bridal Garden A
Go. Just Go. I wish I had gone, I would have had an even nicer dress for about the same or less. Gina was a doll to work with. You have to be creative with some of the dresses, be alright with getting repairs, and be okay with a used one, if that's not your gig, you won't like it here. I on the other hand, loved it.


Adriennes LI (Maid of Honor Dress) B-
Dresses were great, service was good, my only complaint is that my sister who's very thin, and was nursing wanted to order a larger dress, she knew she would stop nursing and gain weight, and wanted room to grow in the dress. They insisted on ordering a 2 she gained 10lbs when she stopped nursing and wound up being much tighter in the dress than she wanted to be originally.

When she went to pick up her dress she had to wait for 20 minutes for a sales person to show up. The dress was not steamed yet, and in the end it was too tight.


Lion in the Sun Invitations, Park Slope- A+++
Just great to work wtih. Ashley was our sales rep, and worked with us to customize invites with a printer (prentiss-dunhut) We walked away with very elegant personalized invites that we loved, I never felt oversold, as a matter of fact she did everything to help us make choices that were cost effective. She also did a few returns of proofs with the printer when they had made errors, that I saw later, and never would have found out about, totally took care of it, completely on the ball. Loved Her

Cake, Rolling Pin Bakery A
The cake was exactly what I ordered which was great, they were easy to work with, all went smoothly, unfortunately, I only had two bites of it for the photographs!

Favors A+++
My Aunt Ellen. Wow, she made all of those chocolates by hand, one for every guest, she floored me.
