Our HM REVIEW!!! Sandals St. Lucia split stay - Regency AND Grande!!
We had the most amazing HM!!! Here's a sort of outline review of Sandals St. Lucia and the excursions we did. I will add more as I think of it, and pictures when I'm on my home computer. Please note that this was our experience/opinion only, so take it in stride. Also there are some things that I put under only one resort that are applicable to both. Feel free to ask me any questions too!!!Sandals Regency La Toc, St. Lucia
-Resort is very spread out, more peaceful and quiet than the Grande
-We stayed in a two-story sunset bluff villa with private plunge pool and butler service. Butler service can be as much or as little as you want it to be. They don't follow you around or anything like that.
-Depending on your room location, there may be a lot of walking involved. We walked a ton, but they also have shuttle services within the resort. It’s very hilly.
-The beach is not great, primarily because there are a lot of local people trying to sell you things.
-There are a ton of cats at this resort. They keep them there to control the rat population.
-The golf is not great – not worth bringing your own clubs for
-There are also a lot of birds – watch your food when you’re eating outside!
-Candlelight beach dinner – we didn’t do this, but heard it was very buggy.
-Private airport transfer is a definite plus. Much faster than taking the resort van.
-Rafts for the pool are scarce. Find one and keep it with you.
-Lounge chairs fill up fast – go out to the pool first thing in the morning and put stuff on a chair
-Tons of honeymooners at this resort.
-Restaurants are great – Pitons (the local fare) was amazing. Go early, they don’t take reservations. Breakfast and lunch buffets are great.
-Ladies, don’t bother doing your hair especially if you have curly hair.
-The water pressure in our room was awful, not sure if that’s a resort-wide issue.
-Street fair – they do this once a week. MUST DO!!!! Food is incredible and the shows are very entertaining.
-Tips from my husband for the guys --- don’t schedule your day around the cigar event that they advertise. Not worth it. Bring lots of reading materials. Pack at least 2 bathing suits and extra undershirts.
-Make your dinner reservations immediately upon arrival.
-Sun is VERY STRONG – plan on using at least 2x the normal spf protection (for example I usually use spf 15, and didn’t use anything below spf 30 the entire time)
-Make sure you have all necessities – they have everything you could need available for purchase but it’s super expensive.
-Service in general is extremely slow. Expect to wait at least a half hour for room service (we waited 1.5 hours at one point).
-Gym – very basic, not great.
-Bring cash – small bills – on excursions. Everyone expects a tip.
-The water is very drinkable – no worries about that.
-Internet access - $5 for ½ hour. They have 2 laptops available, and they’re very slow.
-Watch for roaches.
Sandals Grande St. Lucian
-We stayed in a swim-up concierge room. Pool is very warm, almost like a bathtub.
- Much more lively than the Regency, seems like a different crowd. Fewer honeymooners.
-More watersports options. Better beach – much more crowded.
-Loud in general. We could hear the nightlife from our room (and we were not in the main building)
-Gordon’s – not worth paying extra money to eat there (if you don’t have butler service it costs extra) but at least walk out onto the pier for the view.
-don’t bother putting your clothing outside to dry unless its in the direct sun. it’s too humid otherwise.
-be prepared to gain weight…
-watch out for scalp burn!
-Internet access way more expensive than Regency. $5 for 8 minutes, $10 for 16 minutes, $15 for 24 minutes. There are 2 desktop computers available.
-Toscanini’s Restaurant – MUST DO (and definitely get the coconut tiramisu!)
-Jetski (waverunners) – not through resort but they’re right at the base of the Gordon’s pier – Steve’s Water Sports. Awesome. $40 for ½ hr, $60 for 45 minutes, $80 for an hour. We did 45 minutes and that was perfect.
-Snorkeling – definitely do this. Much better snorkeling than on any of the tours (land & sea or Soufriere adventure tours)
-if you’re flying JetBlue – you can’t check-in for your flight home online. Be prepared to wait at the airport check-in.
-Jasmin’s restaurant was very good. I believe they only do it a couple of nights a week.
-Make your dinner reservations immediately when you get there. If you have concierge service, they’ll do it for you. 7:30 was a good time for us.
-Didn’t see any cats at this resort.
Excursions Through Sandals
Land & Sea
-informative, if you’re into historical stuff
-it was nice to be in an airconditioned van as opposed to an open roof vehicle
-VERY long say
-snorkeling was okay but not spectacular
-the volcano smells very bad like rotten eggs. Be prepared.
Sunset Cruise
-We had an amazing time. It’s probably all about who you meet while you’re on there. We met a great couple and really enjoyed ourselves. Lots of booze flowing.
Ziplining
-MUST DO!!!!
-It’s a lot of walking, but there are NO bugs because it’s rainforest
-It gets really hot. Men must have a baseball cap (they made him go back to our room to get his hat)
-Short – only a half day, which is nice because you don’t lose an entire day like Land & Sea

Re: Our HM REVIEW!!! Sandals St. Lucia split stay - Regency AND Grande!!
allornil - yes we would absolutely go back!!colleen - depends on how 'in' to golf Brian is. Mike was so glad he didn't bring his clubs. He only played once. it's 9 holes. he likens it to a 'bad public course' in our area. but it's worth playing as long as you don't expect much.
marie - hold on i forgot what u asked lol

The swim up room was cool. the room itself is nothing special, but it's pretty awesome having the pool right there. just watch out for raft thieves! you get 2 rafts with the room, and nasty people came and stole ours!
yes we used that pool a lot, but, there is no swim-up bar, or even any bar near there. but you have booze in your room. no you cannot see the ocean from the room. it's set back from the beach a bit.
no we didn't go to town, required too much effort lol.
