Adam and I were married on Saturday, June 10th, and left for Tahiti on Monday June 12th. It was nice to have Sunday to relax and pack for our 11 day Honeymoon. We arrived at JFK at about 3:30pm even though we should have arrived at 2pm (2 hours before the departing flights due to the international travel).
We departed JFK at 5:15pm our time and arrived 12 hours later in Papeete at 1am their time. We were both exhausted, and couldn’t wait to get to our hotel room. We were at the airport for about an hour waiting to get through customs, get our luggage, and find our transfer to the hotel. When we found the company that was transferring us to the hotel we got laid with a beautiful fresh flower lay. Once we got to the hotel, the line of people was out the door; this took about another hour to check in. By the time we hit the sack it was around 3am.
We had a really nice room (Lagoon View) over looking the island of Moorea (which we saw earlier in the morning; but it was a little foggy).

Re: Our HONEYMOON review...TAHITI....come see - lots of PICS
Tuesday, June 13, 2006We awoke bright and early about 7am and went for breakfast. It was a breakfast buffet which included eggs, bacon, sausage, bread, pancakes, yogurt, pastries, and more. We both thought it was good, but when we saw the check we almost fell off our seats. $75 !! Maybe it’s just me, but I thought this was a lot for a plate off bacon and eggs.
We checked out at 10:30am and got transportation to the airport to go to Moorea. We got on this little puddle jumper; no joke only about 8 people fit in it. Adam wasn’t wearing shoes when we were boarding and all our luggage was already on the plane. The pilot was giving him a hard time about boarding but finally let him on. WEAR SHOES!! Men…Listen to your wives!!!
The plane ride was a little scary because it was only so high over the water; thank G-d it was just a couple minutes long.
When we arrived at the airport, the front desk sat us down and greeted us with a fresh pineapple drink while we filled out some paperwork. We were then taken to our Garden Bungalow. This was a little different then we envisioned. I thought we were going to be in a bungalow surrounded by trees and nothing else. When we looked out our patio we saw other bungalows…oh, well….we were barely their anyway.
The Intercontinental was a very clean accommodating hotel. The only thing I thought was weird was the beds were two twins pushed together. Adam kept falling through….
Other than this, every night our room was turned down and in the morning it was freshened up. One evening we were even greeted with a fruit basket and champagne.
The first 3 days was very hard for me. I was very tired. It had to be Jet Lag.

Wednesday, June 14, 2006We woke up and ate breakfast and waited for our pickup. Today we booked an excursion to feed the sharks and sting rays and have a picnic on an island. It was a great experience and a lot of fun.
Moorea Lagoon Excursion by Albert Tours
Later in the evening we went to Alfredo's for dinner. The food was great!

Re: Our HONEYMOON review...TAHITI....come see - lots of PICS
Thursday, June 15, 2006We woke up at about 6:30am, like we’ve been doing since we got here at FP. We ate a breakfast buffet. Today we rented a bugster…..which was a lot of fun. We went around the whole island, it was amazing. We stopped at Allo Pizza for lunch, which was great. We also found small dirt mounds, which Adam found a lot of fun. We rented this for about 4 hours and then had a parasailing appointment. When we went to the desk to meet with the parasailing guys, it had been canceled; it was too windy.
Later this evening, we went to a BBQ and dance. It was really neat and the show and food was outstanding. We had to ate reservations for this.
Doesn't the pic below of the mountain look like an Indian looking up.

Re: Our HONEYMOON review...TAHITI....come see - lots of PICS
Friday, June 16, 2006This was a day we were waiting for since before we arrived here in FP islands. On Tuesday, we made an appointment with Roonui for Tattoos. He is a when recommended tattoo artists known throughout the world. His work is amazing. Today we both got tattoos. I got mine on my foot which is a flower that includes Tahitian design and Adam got a gecko on his calf. It hurt a lot, but was well worth it. Everything was clean and he spoke English. NOTE: Him and his family are moving to Vancuver, Canada in the middle of July.
Later we rented a vehicle and drove around the island and up to Belvadier Mountain.

Re: Our HONEYMOON review...TAHITI....come see - lots of PICS
Sunday, June 18, 2006Today we checked out of the Intercontinental Hotel and received a cool shell lay. We arrived at the airport and waited a little while before we boarded a plane that held about 70 passengers. We had to stop at one other island before arriving in Bora Bora. Here we were greeted again with a fresh flower lay.
We boarded this absolutely beautiful, large, cater-maran. On the boat we were greeted with water and a wet washcloth (I know, sounds funny….but it was polite). We were also given a brownie shaped in a heart. It was so cute.
We arrived at the Bora Bora Nui at about 1pm. For the rest of the day we explored the hotel. They have a spa, grill, restaurant, 2 bars, kayaks (free), jet skis, internet room, pool table, ping pong, and other nice amenities. We stayed in an overwater bungalow and it was well worth it. The scenery was beautiful, the room was nice, and we were able to feed the fish from our living room….through the end tables. I am not sure if all rooms were like ours, but we had little tiny spider ants on the floor of the room. It was not a pretty thing. Also, the sheets will not be changed unless specified by a note left on the pillow in the morning. This is to save the water.
We ate a little something at the grill (mahi mahi) and headed back to our room.
This was about the time Adam notices his foot (ankle) was swollen. Like all men, Adam was not worried…meantime I am freaking out. Who knows what bit him or what allergic reaction he was having. I was worried. We went down to the reception and ask for a doctor. There is not doctor or first aid at the resort, so the doctor had to drive his boat in. The reception said it would be about a half hour. An hour later the doctor knocks on the door. He gives Adam a shot of cortisone in the butt and gave him some anti histamine pills. The doctor said he was bit by a mosquito. Who knows? It cost $250 which was billed to the room. Originally it was supposed to cost $200, but it was a Sunday…go figure!
NOTE: Upon arrival, we were told that there were DVD’s at the front desk…..know what that means right? There is only so much you can do on a resort. P.S. All the DVD’s are not in English. Thank g-d I brought some of my own (for the portable DVD player we brought).

Re: Our HONEYMOON review...TAHITI....come see - lots of PICS
Monday, June 19, 2006Today we made reservations to go on the Jeep 4x4 excursion. It was awesome. The jeep wasn’t very packed, which made the ride comfortable. It was beautiful and a nice experience. Our tour guide was George….he was so funny and spoke very good English. It was about 4 hours long. We got a bite to eat at a shack right across from the boat dock - 2 tuna heroes and a red drink, $6. The sandwiches were great, but don’t drink the red drink. Adam got sick.
After the jeep tour, we went back to the hotel to relax and shower. Tonight we went to Bloody Mary’s to meet up with Jess and Len (Camacho) for dinner. It was a nice experience and the food was excellent. Don’t forget to check out the men’s restroom!

Re: Our HONEYMOON review...TAHITI....come see - lots of PICS
Tuesday, June 20, 2006Adam and I were on a kick to get another tattoo by a well know artist on the island named Marama. Today we awoke and ate breakfast at the hotel (buffet style) and headed over by boat to the main island (transportation is free and is provided by the hotel – comes every hour). We rented a small car with no A/C and no radio because there wasn’t much left (I recommend making a reservation). We drove around the island until we got to Marama’s shop. Unfortunately he wasn’t there and as a matter of fact, he hasn’t been there in a few days according to natives. He races Kayaks and is very busy. Another rumor is, he had no more needles….better off he wasn’t there. We spent a few hours on the main island and then headed back to our resort.
We laid out for a few hours….but didn’t get much color. The beach (at the resort) is beautiful and the staff is very accommodating. While you are laying out, they’ll ask you if you need anything; everyone is so nice. Adam went snorkeling and I collected shells. The snorkeling is so cool.

Wednesday, June 21, 2006Today we went back to the island and rented another vehicle….this time it had no doors and it was raining today. It was kind of fun. We stopped by Bloody Mary’s to get a drink and then headed back to out resort for some lunch at the grill. We went back to our room and watched a couple of movies.
Look at Adam...he was so sad

Re: Our HONEYMOON review...TAHITI....come see - lots of PICS
Thursday, June 22, 2006Today is check out day. We packed the night before and woke up early to get some breakfast. We brought all our luggage to the front desk and headed for the spa (which we made a reservation earlier in the week). We both got 2 hour spas, which included a foot massage with salt, coffee scrub, and hot stone massage - $500. The room was very clean and the mood was set, but there were a few disappointments. After the body scrub with the coffee, we were told to shower. The nozzle to bring the water up through the spout was broken…..so now were crouched down trying to get the coffee off our bodies. When we finally got done with the broken shower, we were told to sit in the Jacuzzi and they will return in 20 minutes. The Jacuzzi was cold…not really cold, but warm and for someone like me who takes really hot showers, it was not feeling very good. When they returned we layed back down and they started on the body massage with hot stones. This experience was nice, but it was hard to relax when cell phones were going off and they kept changing the radio station….yes, it was a little rude.
We left the spa a little oily because the shower was broken and there was no soap. We headed back down to reception to pay our bill. When we notice a 5% commission fee, we were confused. The hotel explained they receive commission on our doctor visit. Adam was not happy. Why should we pay the hotel for our doctor visit….the doctor should give the hotel a kick back, not us!!
We hung around the hotel for the next few hours. The weather was a little eon the nasty side. It was raining and the wind was picking up. We hung out in the lounge and watch TV. Adam was fooling around in a wheel chair he found.
NOTES: I really wanted to post thins for all of you too see, so if I think of anything else, I will update it.

I also had ants in my room at Bora Bora Nui. mine were in the bathroom and were really annoying! Otherwise I thought it was a great hotel!A St.Regis hotel opened up last week and it is supposed to be awesome. My boss is going in August.
