Our June 6th 2009 review of T E S S A, Glenmar Studio, St. Agnes Cathedral, Hart to Hart, The Finishing Touch, Flowers by Brian, Carizma Limo and The Rockville Links Club and MORE!!

I would have loved to have done this sooner and with my pro pics, but as I'm still waiting for this disc, I figure you could look in my album, as all of the important pics are there!

Weather: A++++++++++++++++++++
I think all of us 6/6ers got the BEST day in June, it was sunny, warm, not humid and perfect, I loved watching the sunset at our cocktail hour!!!!!!!

Hair: Antonette @ Giovanna's in Massapequa A+++
I've been going to her for years, had one trial, liked what I saw, and she just firmed it up for the wedding, I LOVED my hair, it stayed all day and held really, really well!!!!

Make-up: Theresa Donnelly-Chanel Counter, Lord and Taylor in Garden City- B
Why the B??? I loved my make up, she did an excellent job, she did my make up for our engagement party and for some other events in between so I was comfortable with her and she was comfortable with me. The day of the wedding she was to be at my house at 10:45, when I called her to tell her we were running a little late and to be at my house, to do my makeup, my mom, maid of honor and bridesmaid by 1115, she agreed, but didn't get to my house until 12....those 45 minutes were very costly, and she did makeup for it by not charging my mom for getting her makeup done, but it caused a lot of issues for the rest of us getting ready as the only place with perfect light is my parents bathroom, needless to say, my dad having to shower in the guest bathroom did not a happy father of the bride make!!!! However, we got over it, got through it, and our makeup was flawless the whole day, only reapplication was my lipstick!

Carizma Limo-A+ Our cars arrived at my house on time, except for my phantom, which was stuck in traffic on the Van Wyck due to a horrendous accident, which was no fault of the company or the driver...we made it to the church...a little late, to the dismay of the very MEAN church czar, and the rest of the day went very smoothly, our phantom was AMAZING, the BP loved the other 2 cars, the drivers were sooooo nice, and Tina the owner was more than a vendor, she was family, she took care of me all day and made sure everything was as it should be, I'd recommend them ten times over!!!!!!

Tuxedos-Advanced Formalwear-D....What a nightmare this place turned into, although DH and our groomsmen looked incredibly handsome it was not due to lack of running back and forth. Who had the wrong tie, who had no PANTS THE DAY OF THE WEDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Thankfully our groomsmen in question was of average size and build or we would have painted his legs black!!! This store was a horror to deal with, and thankfully I didn't deal with them, DH and our BP had to go there the night before the wedding to exchange shirts and ties, and by the day of it STILL wasn't right!!!!! Would definitely NOT recommend this place at ALL!!!!!!

Bridal Reflections, Massapequa-A++++++++++++++++

I cannot say enough nice things about the bridal shop where I got my dress! From Kristy who sold my dress to me, after my horrible experience with Kleinfeld, to ZiZi, the most AMAZING seamstress, to Leslie and the rest of the girls who work there, they made each and every experience a pleasure and I truly felt like a princess the day of my wedding, I LOVE my dress, my accessories, and was actually COMFORTABLE all day, again, I would recommend them TEN TIMES OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom's dress was also amazing and the FG dress was absolutely adorable, everything I had dreamed of for the day was made real by Bridal Reflections, THANK YOU!!!!

Princess Bridals-Farmingdale-D This was another horror, the day MOH and I went shopping for dresses, the owner tried to pressure me into buying my wedding dress there, he was incredibly annoying....we ignored it and bought the BM dresses there because he gave us a decent deal and the store was centrally located for the girls. When I called a number of months later to see when the dresses would be in, I was told by the end of that week, I was then told I would have to notify all of my girls and they would have to have their balance paid off by the end of that month...IT WAS JANUARY, OUR WEDDING WAS JUNE 6TH, I told the owner, my girls wouldn't pay for the dresses until the first fitting, he said that he already paid for the dresses and he needed to get paid, I told him my girls weren't skipping town and to RELAX!!! I went there with MOH to get a swatch of her dress to get an idea of what I wanted for the FG....they actually gave me a problem and wouldn't give me a swatch, they gave me a tiny stitch of material in the WRONG fabric.....they were annoying, they insulted some of my bridesmaids, telling one she had a 'poor bust' and another that she would 'have to order the biggest size'....UGH....NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!


T E S S A-Invitations, Menus, and Programs A++++++++++++++++ Another vendor I cannot say enough nice things about, from the first time I emailed her she was sweet, prompt in her response and really listened when I told her what I wanted. She stayed WELL WITHIN my given budget and my invitations arrived on time and were incredible!!!!!! The materials were awesome, the look was exactly what I had pictured and I find it amazing that this could all be done over the computer. Even when I had to change my venue, she waited to go into production so that we wouldn't have to make extra changes. My programs were absolutely stunning, they added a little sparkle, to our ceremony, and she did exactly what I had envisioned. My menu cards were so beautiful and complemented our table settings perfectly, everything just came together!! She is incredibly talented, reasonably priced and a wonderful person to work with, yet another vendor I would recommend ten times over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Glenmar Studio-Photographer-A++++++++++ We worked with Arthur, he shot my parents 25th anniversary party 5 years ago, and we were so happy with him we wanted him back....we're so happy we did!!! He took amazing photos, as I look through my proofs, I can honestly say there isn't one photo I DON'T like, he was nice, courteous, and did a great job of getting people together, especially quickly for our table pictures at the reception!!

Hart to Hart-DJ, Videography, Lighting-A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ What can I say about this company....we worked with Mario from the getgo....he is FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had dj Mike for our Engagement party and were lucky enough to have him back at our wedding.....the music was everything we expected and more, Mike interacted with the crowd, but was never a cheesy DJ, he got our ENTIRE crowd up and dancing ALL NIGHT!!!!!!

Our Videographer also did Zap Shots for the reception, and I'm so happy we did, it was an extra 270 pictures, candid pictures, from our wedding, what a wonderful idea....we don't have our video yet, but I'm sure we're going to be pleased!

I always wanted to walk into our room and have amazing lighting....and for our wedding, I wanted our room to have a soft pink glow, when I walked in and saw how the lighting transformed our entire room, it took my breath away, I was stunned, shocked that a room at a country club could be so incredibly beautiful, again, everything I dreamed of and more, music and videography and lighting was such an important part of our day, they they made us comfortable enough to know that we were in good hands, we couldn't ask for more, we LOVE hart to hart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

St. Agnes Cathedral-C+

Our presiding priest, Fr. Andrezj is A++++++++++++++ all around, he was funny, touching, inspirational and made our ceremony so personal for Guy and I.....I could feel the love in the church and it was because of him, we were so lucky to have him marry us! The rest of the church however is a different story, from Ellen the rehearsal coordinator, or wedding czar, who screamed at my BP and DH and I the night of the rehearsal, to NOT LETTING MY FLORIST IN THE DAY OF THE WEDDING, to michael, the music director, who screwed up our recessional song, the one thing that DH wanted that day, to walk out to 'the throne room' and they played the wedding march...he was fit to be tied and so was I....where was our song, where were my flowers that I PAID for?!?!?!?! MIL heard her say, I'm leaving the flowers from the previous ceremony, they're fine....to YOU.....not ME....I PAID for those flowers, and I CHOSE those for OUR day, I don't want second hand flowers from someone elses wedding, nasty, lazy, rotten b-i-o-t-c-h!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive written a not so happy letter to the bishop with no response, its time for another!

The Finishing Touch-Linens-MaryannA++++++++ I walked in the first time thinking I knew what I wanted, then changed my mind a few thousand times, and changed venues, and gave this poor, wonderful woman grey hair, but in the end, my linens were absolutely fabulous, they gave our tables sparkle, and made them so unique to us, the napkins tied with ribbon gave the tables a pretty finish and she did so much to make sure our table settings were all we pictured, they were, they were that and more!!!! Her showroom is small, but filled with every linen you could think of, I could have stayed there for days, but in the end, we got exactly what we wanted and didn't pay ridiculous prices, check out the finishing touch, you definitely won't be disappointed!!!

Flowers by Brian-Brian A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Our flowers were such an incredibly important part of our day, and working with Brian instantly put my mind at ease about having the most beautiful centerpieces, bouquets and the rest! After my sample CP did less than WOW me, we went back to the drawing board, and when the wedding day came, I was amazed, Brian is a true artist, a talent, a DREAM to work with and an overall nice guy. My bouquet was stunning....and heavy :) the bouquets for my MOH and my girls were amazing and my FG basket was so incredibly cute! The corsages and boutonnieres were fresh and beautiful and Brian had staff come to my house to decorate it the day of the wedding, which was so sweet!!! The piece for my placecard table was absolutely breathtaking, and the urns for the church (eventhough they were in the back, snuck in by my clever groomsmen) were amazing, even down to the little cabarets on the tables during cocktail hour, it brought the whole color scheme of the wedding together, and were incredibly sweet smelling and gorgeous! People are still raving about the flowers, and as well they should, thank you Brian for making such an important part of our day such an easy choice! I would recommend them ten times over!!!!!!!!

Ladybird Bakery-Cake-Mary Louise A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ From the day we first met with Mary louise, we knew we would LOVE our cake, it was delicious, and pretty too!!! She listened to what we wanted and we felt so comfortable about her baking our wedding cake! I loved our cake, I loved that it was different, like us, it was chocolate, dense chocolate cake with mocha and hazelnut filling, she's based out of Park Slope Brooklyn and her other baked goods are just as yummy!!!!!!!!!

Malverne Bakery-Cookies for tables-A++++ We've worked with Malverne bakery for family parties, our engagement party, and as always were not disappointed, we ordered 1lb trays of cookies for each table, they were delivered, wrapped in pink ribbon, to match the theme and quickly eaten by happy guests! I always recommend Malverne and will continue to do so!

Nordstroms-Earrings-A+++++ I got my earrings off the rack one day while shopping with mom, and I LOVED them, Nordstroms has GREAT bridal jewelry and you won't spend tons of money!!!

Shoes-Sandy's-Massapequa A+++++++ I'm so picky about shoes, and I needed comfy ones, I found them at sandys, and so reasonably priced, I also found my toss garter there, which saved me a trip and had my shoes dyed, they did a great job and I would definitely recommend them!

I ordered the dragonfly pins for myself and my girls about a year before the wedding, I saw them in Brides magazine for like $175, I found them, similar ones, on this website for $14.99, JACKPOT!!!!! They came quickly, were really pretty, and were an extra little gift to my girls!

I found pretty earrings for my girls, and with the help of an incredibly wonderful sales lady, I saved about $200!!!!!!! Lord and Taylor has awesome sales and great coupons, it's definitely worth it!

I didn't know at first that you didn't get the cardbox until the week of the wedding and I was so nervous as it got closer, but when I got my proof I was stunned, it was AMAZING, I LOVED EVERYTHING about it, it came in 2 days, and people were flipping out over it, and now I have a beautiful box to store a lot of my wedding mementos!!!!!! It wasn't overly expensive and for the budget conscious bride, this is something you can totally splurge on!

The LAST place I expected to find bags to wrap my favors in, I had looked all over, and while shopping with my mom and aunt, I saw the cutest little bags, all different PINK, WEDDING BAGS!!!! For a mere 59 cents a piece, I had awesome bags to wrap my favors in, and it took no time at all to do it myself with the help of my amazing mother!

Rehearsal Dinner-Blue Moon, Rockville Centre

Nothing Major, Pizzas, Salads, good food, good drinks, good friends, amazing family and lots of laughs the night before the wedding, we go there all the time, the food is always amazing, the service and staff are always top notch and the atmosphere is like an old time pizzeria from the 50's, go there, you won't be disappointed!

The Rockville Links Club, Rockville Centre

We had our engagement party, my bridal shower and our wedding here, what can I say about a place that is so consistently amazing? From Steve and Brad, our catering managers, to Timmy and Richie, the bartenders, to our fabulous and attentive servers, to the parking attendants, the people there are second to none, we were the only event there and had the run of the place and were treated like kings and queens all night, I can't think of one BAD thing about the links! Our food was absolutely amazing, fresh, HOT and delicious! We had a sushi station (courtesy of yummy yummy in Long Beach) which was beyond anything we had expected, and a peking duck station, it had to be some of the best peking duck we'd ever had, the passed appetizers were so yummy and the presentation was so pretty! Our dinner consisted of a salad of arugula, pear slices, candied walnuts and bleu cheese with a raspberry vinagrette, the salad was freshly prepared, not wilted or drowned in dressing! The everyone was served a rigatoni with a tomato basil sauce, it was so fresh, so delicious, not acidy or overly salty, I was so impressed!!!! This was followed by a choice of a porterhouse porkchop with an apple sauce and frizzled shallots or a swordfish with a tomato, olive and caper sauce, which was so incredibly delicious, I again cannot say enough good things about the food, all of the visiting of tables I did, all of the plates were clean, a true sign of people actually enjoying the food at a wedding!

The links really helped us personalize our day, they are more than banquet managers and bartenders and servers, they are family, we belong to the club and are there all the time, all of the meetings I drove steve crazy, he made sure our wedding ran like clock work, and before I knew it, it was time to cut the cake, I couldn't believe how fast the day went, before I knew it people were saying goodnight and thanking us for a wonderful day, where did the time go, that's the one thing I would change, let the time go a little slower....thats all! Steve ensured that our day was perfect and drama free which it was, so to the staff of the Links, we love you and thank you for making our day everything we could have dreamed of and more!

That's my review ladies, pictures to follow as soon as I get the disc from Glenmar, thanks for reading this REALLY LONG, but really HAPPY review of our most incredible 6.6.09 wedding, I only hope that the rest of you enjoy your days as much as Guy and I enjoyed ours!

First off - congratulations! You looked beautiful and I loved your flowers, cake, invites!!! I had a nightmare with my church too where our singer didn't show up - so disappointing. My letter went unanswered too. Sorry that you had those issues as well. But glad you had a beautiful day regardless.
